Winter is Coming..
Print · · Subscribe · 0 Loves ·

The last of the bright colored autumn leaves has fallen, taking with it the warmth of sunshine. The days grow shorter now — darkness envelops Relic Lore with a chill that rakes much closer to the skin so early in the months of winter than before. The snow has begun already; a myriad of flurries that break in to a light snow and dust the territory grounds.. the accumulation is slow, but already, the depths reach ankle deep.. another record of these lands. The herds scatter further than before.. migration patterns begin to reveal their journey closer to the edges of the Lore.. Winter is coming.

Introducing RoW's Boardwide Plot #3

.. It looks like the staff of RoW have developed another interactive boardwide plot for our members to enjoy and participate in! This is a plot that will affect everyone's character in terms of their health and lifestyle.. after all, sometimes, life doesn't go as we all plan, so why not with our characters as well? As this plot continues, certain developments will come in to play.. but you'll have to wait and see what that is. :)

Migration of RoW Herds

It looks like the herds in Relic Lore are thinning drastically.. the remaining herds can now be seen in our In Character section right beneath our map thumbnail. We highly encourage members to keep an eye on this -- herds and larger prey mentioned can only be sought out in the following areas for now, unless a Food Cache opportunity (explained below) appears. Smaller prey like rabbits, birds, and other small mammals are also getting harder to find... what could this mean for the wolves of Relic Lore?

Weather

A light snow has begun across the lands of Relic Lore.. Such a sighting is not odd in November.. and yet, every inhabitant seems to realize that the snow is accumulating a bit faster than normal. Was it ankle deep last year around this time?

Health Bars

This plot has brought on the new health bars that everyone can see attached to their character! These are an indication of your character's current health, and can be edited by each member -- because of this, we are putting heavy emphasis on the honor system to this new feature. Do not add or take away points that are not merited to your character. If we feel the system is being abused by any individual, we will manually edit your health bars as we (staff) deem fit. These health bars affect the fight system stats of each individual character, and is primarily based on hunger and any injuries obtained. The maximum health for a pack wolf is 100%, while the maximum for a lone wolf is only 90%. There is a benefit to being part of larger groups this season.

Food Caches

To work alongside the new health bar system, we have introduced a food cache system. This works through a plugin that gives each IC post by a character a percentage of a chance to find a certain piece of food or hunting opportunity. This is only a prompt to the thread, and your character can only gain the health opportunity if the thread has a direct response to finding or taking advantage of the opportunity. An example would be if your character finds part of an elk carcass, you can only add the points to your health bar if you respond by eating the carcass.

Of course, when there are multiple characters in a thread, the food cache find can either be fought over for the points, or shared and divided equally. We hope to see some interesting development begin to stir from this. ;)

By splitting up the cache, does that mean that if there are six wolves who find a deer carcass +3 points then only three of those wolves get the points even though they all ate the same?
if a wolf is in a pack and has absolutely nothing wrong with them, will they be at 100%, or because everyones been defaulted to 90% will we still have to wait for the prompts to get points up to 100%?

They were set at 90% so the fight stats weren't blank, not because every character on the game is at 90%. You're free to adjust them as you see fit. Obtaining food is not a requirement in increasing your character's health, but it's a way for you to think about it and make sure your character's condition is marked accurately. For example, if your character is healing from an injury, that would reflect in their condition. Hope that makes sense!

As to your question, Render, we need to redetermine some of the points that are available. 3 is probably too low for a deer which could feed several wolves pretty adequately. Since it's already been posted and we can't/won't adjust it, that +3 is up for grabs for anybody who actively interacts with the kill.
