Zera Tainn
Partly cloudy, 70° F @Jessie

zera tainn

There was nothing to Zera like the calm of a sky that held clouds. Often she'd find herself gazing at them from her favorite red stone perch like her mother did the night she learned about stars. She always found something interesting and irresistible about the way they could previse a day, whether they misted the ground with delightful rain or spread vast and wide to let the sun shine through. Zera was growing to respect the sky and all that it brought.

The young Tainn sought adventure almost every minute of the day, but sometimes adventure didn't involve trekking across the high-noon hills with Darrah in tow, grumbling and whining his pathetic way - sometimes adventure involved daydreaming and sky-gazing. She could imagine anything from the colors and the shapes of passing precipitation. Zera sometimes thought of prowling like a lead hunter, taking down a terrifying bear on the edge of the borders, and even conquering the swirling creek's current of which was her greatest fear. The current was probably most often on her mind after that vivid dream of drowning in it. Maybe that was what provoked the sudden stillness in her usually bouncy nature.

Zera was really hankering a rest from the day's previous play hour with Darrah. Sometimes the siblings just needed a break from each other every now and again. Apparently, she made too much racket for him, anyway. He was probably curled up on his side of the den, thinking about how to rat her out of sunbathing. Sometimes a girl just needs to have some girl time.

Jessie Tainn

She was not fond of many of her pack mates, though it didn't change the fact that she often interacted with them anyone. She was especially not particularly fond of the children. She never knew why...well she did. Ever since the incident with Rissa, Jessie had been extremely distant for the young. She did not want the children to get abducted again and then brutally murdered. Because then Jessie, as Head Scout, would be tasked with the expectancy to find the missing child and then she would once again be crushed and alone when she found the dead, broken body. She tried not to let her thoughts wonder much to that though, because then she had been able to call for Fenru and her Ice, but now she could do no such thing, the only ones she had were Hotei....and herself. She respected and loved Triell and Nayeli deeply, but if it came to her life she knew that there was nothing they could do for her, nothing that she would let them do.

She knew she would just simply have to wait, and so she remained silent, her body weaving easy throughout the familiar territory. She was in peace, until she came upon the scent of one of the children. Fear instantly gripped at her heart and she pushed herself forward, her agility taking over. When she came upon the child near the borders, her breath returned to her, allowing her lungs to expand to their full capacity and for Jess to feel a smidgen of relief. Coming out from the shadows, the small gray woman spoke calmly, "Does your mother know that you are away, child?" She stepped closer, her emerald eyes on the small girl before her.

There was no doubting that Zera was growing into an interesting pup. She always found a way to give a moment of her day to the clouds. Yes perhaps, they were a distraction from Darrah among other things - but she found herself in the delicate, froth-like artwork too. The young child would never expect Darrah to find solace and consolation in the sky's tedious creation. She was beginning to believe it was impossible to give the clouds mot juste, as they were always changing, rapidly revering. It was easy to wander a little too far, perhaps gaze a little too long on her short, fast little legs. Zera wandered almost out to the reaches of the den's boundary, eyes lost in the never-ending sky. She might not have even noticed how far she was until the grasses parted to the wise, silver figure of the head scout.

Zera, with the awkward pup frame and large head, butted right up against the woman's towering leg. "Oof," she grumbled before taking a step back and a glance up at the Swiftpaw's worried emerald eyes. The young Tainn dropped her gaze to her paws at Jessie's anticipated greeting, "Does your mother know that you are away, child?" Truth be told, Zera wasn't actually trying to cause a scene. She had no idea she'd wandered out this far, and let out a small whimper in response, something that came instantly out of habit from Darrah's troublesome, guilt-making mouth.

Zera sighed sadly, "no ma'am," and began to turn her tail, starting to follow her little trail back through the grass. She knew she'd have to go adventure somewhere else, since adults were all business and no play. They would never understand the extent of exploration, she learned.

Jessie Tainn

She saw rather than felt the small bump that accompanied the small pup as she ran straight into Jessie's leg. Though she was not built, her power was in her legs, and she used this to her full advantage when she needed to. As she looked down at the little girl, she suppressed a wince. She definitely did not like children but she had claimed that she would try to help her lady out, and the last thing she wished to do was be on bad terms with the daughter of her alphas. So with a sigh, she watched as the girl answered her, quite polite, might Jessie add. The silver headed woman tilted her head slightly at this, a small pleased smile that was barely even noticeable crossed her lips. At least the child knew how to be honest and it definitely put in some impressed points from Jessie. This girl was not trying to deceive her, and for that, Jessie felt a strange sense of...importance.

Perhaps that is why she always had a hard time bonding with others, due to their lies and deception, but this child...this...little girl had not lied to her once and had not tried to get her way out of the situation they were placed in. Perplexed by this, she almost did not notice that Zera was following the path that she had taken to get to where she was. Jessie could easily tell because...well...she was the Head Scout and she was required to notice things such as these. Without thinking, Jessie knew that she wished for the company of the child and so she called out to her, "Wait, where are you going?" The small woman pressed a few steps closer, her emerald eyes narrowing at the girl in front of her. Jessie found that she wished to get to know the girl better, regardless of the fact that she might once again be disappointed by a death.
