RE: Grizzly Hollow, due to recent snows, your local water source has become very difficult to access.

She was the first to awake that morning. The pack had piled in the den the night before in anticipation of the winter storm they'd each scented plainly on the air. Pip had settled herself closest to Veho, but otherwise isolated herself from the rest of the pack as much as the small space would allow. The mute female was still struggling with the loss of her fellow sea wolves from the pack and preferred to keep to herself while healing so as not to disrupt the daily goings-on of her packmates.

It was abnormal for the others to not be even stirring yet and Pip surmised she must be up far before sunrise. She could find no hint of light. Was it still dark outside then? Quietly, the girl stood and tip toed to the entrance of the den only to find it blocked by snow. Her ears fell back worriedly and she gave a tentative scratch at the wall barring her path. Thankfully, the snow gave way readily and blasted icy wind into her face. Digging a bigger hole, Pip slipped free and found herself surrounded by deep snow drifts.

Using the familiar branches above as a guide in direction, the small wolf trudged her way slowly towards a small outlet of the large river that fed the densite. What she found of said water - buried beneath heaps of snow - was frozen solid. Would the river be the same? But already her small frame was trembling with the effort it had taken to get this far. Relenting, she chirped out for alert her packmates that it was time to wake and something was amiss.

Ophelia Macieo
Another pack call for GH. @Veho, @Oula, @Tomen, @Nineva, @Joan, @Felix, @Deacon, @Amaryllis, @Yvly

Ophelia never woke up first. She took pride in being a pampered princess and slept as late as she pleased. But since @Oula's return, the pale pup was sleeping less than she liked. She spent far too much of her time at night tossing baleful, bitter looks over at her slumbering mother. She still had yet to speak to her, and the girl was petulant enough to keep up the poor attitude for as long as she could until someone confronted her about it. Ophelia wasn't the kind to ever see reason on her own.

Needless to say, she was less than pleased when she heard that dumb girl tweeting about like some stupid bird. Rather than ignore her as Opie often did, she stomped from the den, through the opening Pip had made, and rushed over to chomp on her muzzle. A few months ago, it would have been physically impossible, but now, Opie was already larger than the mute and she would use her size as an intimidation factor for the meek girl. Her growl was pure morning-grouch-annoyance.

"What," she snapped, "can you possibly be whining about this early in the morning?" The demand is snarled as she hovered over Pip's now prone form, blind to the deep snow around them in her fury. In all fairness, Ophelia knew it wasn't Pip's fault, but it felt good to take it out on her anyway.

Deacon

He hadn't been sleeping well lately, so the chirping that came from one of his packmates was not dismissed. He arose and ran out through the path that had already been made by someone else. The scene he came upon was not one he wished to see. One of the children were acting rather rudely towards a small female. Without any thought, his tail rose and he growled. "Behave!" He snarled towards the aging child. "You do not treat your own members with such rudeness when it is utterly uncalled for." His words were an usually harsh hiss. Stepping over towards the small female, whose name he believed was Pip (rather fitting), he offered a lick to her crown.

As he looked around the area his brain didn't connect with the issue of water. His bright amber eyes looked to Pip with gentle care. "What's the issue?" His voice had grown more gentle as he spoke to the woman. The dark male couldn't imagine what had the mute woman so worried. He hoped more would appear soon. While he had mostly handled Ophelia he still wasn't fully trusting that she wouldn't pull some stunt again. Not to mention someone who knew Pip better might be better suited for understanding her chirps.

Any packmates are free to interrupt at any time. Don't intend for this to be a strict wait-your-turn sort of thread. More just an answer if/when it suits your character one. c:

It was happening again, she realized with rising anxiety. And this time, Niq'x and Blitz weren't here to protect her. While the mute had been at the sharp end of Ophelia's tongue before, she'd never been bitten by her. The muzzle grab left Pip trembling with more than just the effort the snow had taken to clear. Her scent was drenched in anxiety, ears falling flat against her skull and tail tucking quickly. Most distressing was the pup's apparent lack of acknowledgement of her submissive nature. It should have been unnatural for her, an adult, to want to show her throat to a pup, but she certainly felt the need now. Old habits died hard.

In pleading, soft orange eyes flickered to the wall of snow barricading them in and blocking their path to the river and any of its smaller outlets. The subtle clue was lost on the irritable pup who only sniffed and looked down her nose at her.

Pip flinched at the arrival of another packmate. A quick glance was all that was needed for her to recognize Veho's new Second. Despite being a new member himself, Tomen was too young yet to be of more significant status. The omega lowered herself even further to the ground when his growl lashed out. Even if it wasn't meant for her, she'd rather not become the center of his attention when he sounded so mad.

Eeep! she thought nervously when he approached, eyes downcast at the ground to prove she had no intention of challenging his authority. Pip blinked with surprise when he only licked at her head. Her tail unfurled from between her legs long enough to give a few lowly sweeping wags before stilling. She risked a glance up and saw no anger there for her. Phew.

With Ophelia no longer hovering over her, Pip took a few stilted steps towards where she'd grown too tired to continue on towards their water and pawed at the thick snow a few times. There was little more she could do on her own.

Ophelia Macieo

Ophelia was stunned. She blinked several times in shock before turning to see her Daddy's new Second stalking towards her with a snarl. Automatically, her ears fell back and her lip quivered. The bold princess was quite skilled with dishing out harshness, but never had been one for taking it. Mostly looking to avoid being punished further, the pale pup moved away rather than show proper respect and show her belly for such a blunder.

She knew what she should do. But without Veho to demand it of her - she had very much become Daddy's little girl - she was less inclined to follow the rules. When Deacon's back was facing her, his attention now focused on the stupid mute, peridot eyes glared at the cowering sea wolf.

Stupid Squeak, she thought bitterly, thinking the girl's nickname with venom. This is all her fault! And knowing it wasn't truly did nothing for Ophelia's anger. In fact, it only seemed to grow towards the mute and she would have headed right back into the den to pout away the rest of the day were it not for everyone else being in there taking up space.

Ophelia dared not growl under her breath, but it didn't stop her from thinking ill of the pair of them. Meanly, she wanted to sneer, 'Why don't you just marry each other?' But even she knew it was too immature. Even Joannie would say so.

Tomen Attaya-Lyall
Cradled by the warm obliviousness of sleep, and as-ever tucked happily beside @Nineva, Pip's soft scratching to the snow in the way had not woken him at first. In fact, it was not Pip who stirred his sleep at all, but rather Opie, who - in her ever-graceful and tactful way - trod right on his tail in her march out of the den. Though it hadn't hurt that much, it was enough to startle him into some kind of consciousness - and cracking one eye open to peer at the den's entrance, saw the tip of a dark tail as somebody else marched after his sister, though Tomen wasn't sure who it was.

Pushing his paws forward with a great yawn, he blinked blearily at the others and saw most of them still asleep. While tempted to join them again, he couldn't shake the thought that something had been important enough for his littlest sister to get up, so with a light lick to Nineva's slumbering nose the dark wolf stepped out of the den himself (taking note of the fact that someone had clearly need to do a little renovations...) and trotted after the sound of voices.

Raised voices. Ears flicking back, Tomen frowned as he picked up the pace a bit, and his speed was rewarded by seeing @Deacon reprimand a clearly stunned Ophelia before appearing to comfort Pip, and everything about that twisted Tomen's gut in anger. "Hey," he snapped, tail stiffening, for a moment uncaring of their ranks and the proper chain of authority because, damn it, this was his family and Tomen had been here first - he didn't give a shit that Deacon was lucky enough to be one year older. "don't you talk to her like that." Don't you touch Pip like that.

Moving to touch Opie's cheek with his nose, to tell her it's okay, big bro's here - not that she ever really needed his protection and he may well have earned some of her ire himself but he didn't care, he'd be damned if some pack newbie was the one to scold her - he looked over and saw Pip pawing at the snow where... wasn't this where most of them took a drink in the morning? That didn't look good.

Deacon
i apologize for deacon x.x

objects in space

It appeared someone had come tailing after him. @Tomen. Deacon's hackles raised, his teeth bared, and his tail threated to raise fully. "If you don't want me disciplining her then do it yourself. His voice was harsh. Opehlia had no reason to be acting the way he had caught her. If Pip had been warning them of danger, then the child should not have acted so draconian. If anyone else intended to snap at Deacon he was more than prepared to defend himself.

As he moved his large form to check where Pip had cleared some snow he grumbled softly. He cleared more snow in hopes of seeing some water but it all seemed frozen. "Someone help me try to break this ice. Depending on how thick it is we may or may not have a more serious issue." At the end of his sentence he raised up and slammed down into the ice. A solid thud sound greeted his ears as if to mock him. This didn't look very good for any of them. He went in to hit it with his forepaws again. Another thud and another one and another one. Deacon had to interest in stopping until something gave or someone pulled him off the ice.

Oula Whitebark
Wrote this on tablet let me know if something is messed up

Oula slept right through the first few wolves that filtered out of the den. And who knew how longer she would have continued to sleep had the sounds of bickering and Ophelia’s unmistakable falsetto of indignence not reached her. She peeked one eye open, then another before noticing the den was much emptier than it had been when she'd gone to sleep. She carefully rose, leaving a small kiss on Veho’s crown before she squeezed out of the furrow of snow that had previously barricaded the doorway, now trampled by several sets of paws.

She jogged over towards the sounds of arguing, noting a rhythmic thudding that only increased her growing concern. What in the hell had caused this sort of ruckus this early in the morning. The scene she arrived to answered some of her questions, but not all. She had missed most of the squabbling. “Just what is going on here?” She asked, lips pulled in a flat line. Deacon was jumping up and down like a jackrabbit, and every one looked a bit on edge.

Oula walked closer, peeking over the snow that had been pushed aside where Deacon was stomping to reveal their water source, frozen solid. Oula sighed, shaking her head, “Deacon, stop.” She commanded him, though maybe it wasn't her right she couldn't stand to see the lad tear his paws up over nothing. “Even if you get through, it will be frozen again tomorrow. It's not getting warmer any time soon.” She cautioned. They had months left of this frost, it wasn't sustainable to go through this routine every morning as the ice consumed more and more of their stream, especially if it resulted in the accompanying theatrics each time.

Maybe she should just... Nope. No escape that way. The snow was piled far too high to make a subtle escape. Any attempt would leave her packmates surely looking after her and questioning her behavior. Shrinking down into the most miserable ball was not helping either. More and more tension piled high and Pip shouldered every bit of it. Even if she hadn't been the cause of it, she likely would have felt some responsibility anyway. But knowing that this entire situation snowballed from her waking the others up left the small mute feeling sick with anxiety.

She had to fix this.

Despite the cold, Pip began panting heavily. This was not how she imagined this morning's problem being solved. All the bickering was completely unexpected.

Though she was weary from digging out so much before the others woke, with trembling, exhausted limbs, Pip went back at it in the hopes that others would begin picking up the hint and help her tunnel towards the mouth of the river. It usually ran too fast and too wide to freeze over like the smaller rivulets that it fed like the one near the mouth of the den.
