Rebecca Wheatear
Too small was the first one, too large the second one, pack den the third one. Reba needed to find her own den. That would be her private resting and sleeping area. Though she wasn't sure did pack wolves have their own dens... The ebony girl wasn't sure about anything. This life was so new to her, she had no idea what to do or not to do. It wasn't nice to miss the most important state of your life. But Rebecca was eager to learn and the best way to learn is from mistakes. At least in her case. So she kept looking a good place for herself.

This seemed promising. Looking at a pile of rocks on a fallen tree. Maybe there was some good place? Walking closer, sniffing the ground. Good, there was no specific scent that would tell someone else had already made their den here. Eyeing the pile, trying to figure out was it even suitable for den. At least there wasn't one yet, but maybe she could dig one. Scratching the ground, it was covered with snow of course, it was winter, but maybe it wouldn't be too frozen to dig? Looking around, then her view halted to the large roots of the tree that sticked out from the snow. If she could dig her way in from there? Walking closer, head hanging low, eyes pointed to her destination.

This was almost too good to be true. Under the tree, between the pile that covered the trunk and the roots that had failed the tree, there was already a hole. Going under the rocks. Did someone live there? Halting to the side of the tree, then crawling towards the hole. Tight space, the fallen pine was pretty close to ground, but Reba could just fit in there. Sticking her head in the hole, trying to see something in the dark place.

<blockquote>The particular shade of blue donned by the mid-day sky reminded her that winter was only temporary; with the sun hanging beyond watchful clouds, she couldn't help but to notice that its rays were warm, dancing across her face like an infant's fingers. From her perch, high among the rocky outcrop of the pack den, the tawny red female overlooked the Spring and all of its glory for some time, her plush tail curled gingerly about her hindquarters as she lay. The pack had grown in the short time since its arrival here - though she had yet to meet any of the newcomers, she'd become accustomed to the strewning of their relative scents, now zig-zagged through the territory.

A mighty growl came from within her belly, as if to scold herself to feed. The shewolf hadn't bothered - larger prey was scarce in the area, except for the hog population that inhabited the Ghastly Woods, and it would have been a meager waste of time to stalk squirrels when the borders needed patrolling and marking. Just as the female considered leaving the balcony behind her in search of a better muse than sunwatching, a scuffle below met her ears.

Peering curiously over the edge, large paws dangling, it was with an eager delight that her gaze fell upon a dark figure. A smile crept across her wide face as she watched the female dig feverishly, perhaps an attempt to forge a more suitable, personal den. Quietly, the leadess withdrew from the hanging perch, stealthily creeping down the shaded isle that led from it.

She approached carefully, as not to frighten her packmate - marked by Ruiko's own scent - but quietly enough to move unnoticed. For a few moments she watched, observing the coal-colored shewolf's technique. <i>Quite efficient</i>.

Charismatically, and with her flag held high proudly behind her, Aeylen called out to the black lady. <b>"Perhaps I could lend a helping hand?"</b> Her words were warm as she came to stand at the woman's side, honey-colored eyes overlooking the work in progress.</blockquote>

She started digging. Whoever had made this hole and lived here wasn't home. It was hers now! At least if pack members ahd their own dens... Well, she wasn't lazy, and digging was actually fun, despite that the ground was harder than usual due the freezing air that had frozen the ground. But the den needed to be largened, barely her head fit in. First Reba started with the entrance,to make ti easier to just slide straight in her new den.

Not long after she had started, she suddenly heard a voice behind her. Jumping up and to her surprise noticed a she-wolf standing next to her. How long had she been there? She was about the same size as she was, but wiht very different fur color and beatiful honey eyes. With ehr light blue ones and sometimes not so... Mature behavior, Rebecca suddenly felt like a pup. Specially when she noticed her tail. Kept high equals alpha. Reba was stunned taht her leader that she had never met surprised in the middle of her work, talking to her with her beatiful voice and just looking at her. Reba had no idea what they were supposed to be doing, but omsehow she had thought that the alpha female was jsut relaxing in the den.

<b>"Ehm... Grhm... Hi... Err... Yes? Maybe... No."</b> Reba stumbled wiht her words. This happened... Never? She had always known what to say in every situation,a nd now when she the most would've wanted it she had no idea what to say... How embarrasing. Sheepish look on her face, apologizing smile and lowered head, small, ashamed chuckle. Why was she so lost right now? <b>"Uhm... No, thank you"</b> the ebony wolf continued, trying to sound more polite. <b>"I don't wan't to stress you"</b>

<blockquote>She'd meant to surprise her - after all, it had been a surprise that she'd so randomly come across a new packmate - but didn't intend to startled the woman as she worked. The female had crystalline blue eyes, set in her dark mask like diamonds are set in coal.

<i>Stress? Me?</i> she thought. Life here was the far from stressful, and on the contrary, Aeylen felt as though there was a distinct lack of stress. Ruiko took care of her, and did it well, leaving little for her to worry about at the end of the day. She'd spend the nights with her body wrapped in his, taking in his scent as she dreamed of their children's faces; she'd spend the days patrolling and exploring, until now with very limited social interaction.

So there was, actually, nothing the leadess would enjoy more than quality time with a potential friend.

<b>"Not at all, I enjoy hard work. I believe it builds character,"</b> her smile beamed as she spoke, reaching a paw to sift through some of the loosened dirt. It would be rude to just jump right in without permission, Alpha, or not. <b>"My name is Aeylen- Aeylen Tainn,"</b> she offered, hoping to break the ice between them. <b>"I've been waiting for you..."</b> and she had been so patient, memorizing the scents of the Creek wolves without faces to associate them with. <b>"...What is <i>your</i> name, if I may ask?"</b> </blockquote>

Wow. Rebecca had never thought that an <i>alpha</i> could be that nice. She really didn't remember what her parents, the alphas had done expect taking care fo their kids, she wasn't even sure had she ever seen them doing anything else. So somewhere in her mind, Rebecca had built an picture of dictator rulers, tyrants and other things like that, plus that the female only slept in her den and waited everyone to bring food to her. With that picture, it's a wonder that Reba never even joined a pack...

But now she was here, talking to alpha who was so nice she could've even thought her as an ordinary wolf. Wagging her tail hesitantly, giving a small, unsure smile, before it widened to grin that so oftened marked her face. Impish grin, with the same kind of sparkle in her eyes. But she didn't want to disrespectful, so her head was still low, ears partly held back and tail, though wagging, was kept low as well.

<b>"Waiting for me? Anyway, my name is Rebecca Wheatear, shortened Reba"</b> the crazy girl introduced herself, slightly lifting her head, licking her nose, smiling and wagging her tail, in overall looking friendly, but lost in the thicket of manners. Her alpha, Aeylen, didn't shy away from work? Were all alpha females like that? Hopefully, though Reba wasn't sure. But she was happy if hers was. <b>"And if you really think it's no problem to you, you can help, of course"</b> she then continued, looking little sheepish this time.

<blockquote>Pleased by the dark girl's sweet and respectful gestures, the leadess allowed her plush tail to wag in sync. <b>"It's a pleasure, truly, Rebecca Wheatear. And, yes, I <i>have</i> been waiting for you, and this place, and the memories that we shall all build together."</b> Dreams of a strong pack flashed through her thoughts, images of her future children growing healthy under the care and supervision of wolves such as Rebecca. How refreshing it was to finaly put a face to her scent, more refreshing to watch the female work with her hands as she carved a den to call home.

With the dark lady's express permission, the tawny wolf dug right in, savoring the feel of the cold dirt as it moved between her toes. With a slight arc to her fit back the Tainn exerted her strength, sending earth flying a short way behind she and Reba. She worked feverishly, at times looking over to examine the other's work, making sure that her marks were as uniform and in the way Reba may prefer.

<b>"By day's end, you may have a cozy home fit for kings,"</b> she added eventually after a period of silent labor, taking pride in the time she was spending with a new friend.</blockquote>

Digging, feeling little uncomfortable at the beginning. Having an alpha, nice, friendly aplha next to you, working wiht the same pace to make a home to her follower. It was something that really mixedc up Rebecca's mind. But slowly, with the comrade silence, the black girl started to relax. Her digging pace didn't slow down, but she began to feel more like herself, not as lost anymore.

Wondering Aeylen's words, about building memories together... That made Reba feel good. Like she wasn't just one of the wolves in the pack, but an individual that the alpha wanted to get to know. The insane wished that it wasn't just a pretended thing, it didn't feel like pretended though, so probably it wasn't. One thing Reba really hoped, was that Aeylen or Ruiko wouldn't care too much about her craziness when they would find out. She wasn't going to put her packmates in danger, at least not with purpose, so maybe they would be fine with it?

The alpha's next words interrupted Rebecca's busy mind. <b>"You think so?"</b> she asked giggling, stopping working for a brief moment to glance Aeylen with friendly eyes. Yes, probably the den would be really comfy when finished, but good for kings? The black wolf wasn't sure about that. But she continued working immediately when her eyes moved away from the alpa. She wanted to sleep that night in her new, finished home.

<blockquote><b>"Sure I do,"</b> she replied cordially, taking a step back to admire the masterpiece. <b>"Quality is a value placed upon something, such as this, by the person it means the most to. If it is good enough for you, <i>it is fit for kings</i>."</b>

The last thing the tawny female wanted was to impede any progress, and so she jumped back in right where she left off, comfortably following the dark woman's lead with a soft smile to her face.

As the afternoon pressed on, the familiar sting of hunger screamed at her from her belly. The leadess was well-fed, certainly spoiled by her mate, but it had been over a day since her last meal. With large creamy paws now muddied to her elbows, she wondered when Reba's last meal may have been; perhaps if her work wasn't too taxing, and pending the fitting den's creation, she'd be willing to pursue an evening hunt?

<b>"Would you like to grab a bite to eat later?"</b> Aeylen nearly felt silly asking the question in such a manner, but she was certainly enjoying the good company.</blockquote>

When Aeylen started to speak her wise words, Rebecca stopped working and instead explored the creation with her eyes. How someone could carry that kind of wisdom? Rebecca was still young, but she didn't expect learnign anything greta in her future days of life. At least nothing that ahd that kind of value like Ayelen's words.

When Ayelen started to work on her side again, Reba continued with a smile. She did like her alpha. Really.

Morning went by with work, the den starting to look pretty good. It wouldn't take too long before it would be finished. With warm feelings Rebecca wondered how she would sleep with her first night in the den filled with scents of lately diggen earth. Ah, it would be wonderful! Then Ayelen suggested a hunt. Halting with her work again, stepping away and scrething her muscles, swiping her dirty paws to the snow. Then the black girl smiled to Aeylen and replied:<b> "Sure!"</b> with little teasing in her voice. One word from the alpha and she would be gone for hungting, but instead Aeylen suggested it. One more prove of her kindness! Shaking her black fur, wagging her tail and giving a wide smile to her alpha, then sniffing the air to catch any scents. Indeed, the black wolf felt hungry. It had been nealry two days since her last meal.
