She had made this a home, whether she wanted to admit it or not.

@Seri had been raised in no place but here. They shared a den that carried their scents. She chased away predators that she could and stayed mindful of those she couldn't. Fed them with what the land provided.

Life seemed peaceful despite her inner worries.

A growing son. Her own growing self.

The kind of thoughts that forced one to sit and think on what they wanted, what they needed. None of it seemed clear to her. She simply knew she needed to make sure her son had a good childhood and that he had anything he could ask for. So far she had succeeded. How long would that last? Fall would be soon and then winter.

It stirred some sort of restless frustration in her bones. Enough that she raised and paced off along the creek's edge.

On the hunt, but for what?

With his inability to track down his Isomne, the former hunter had made the difficult but necessary decision to progress onwards by himself. To be moving again felt pleasant, and he’d decided to cross to the opposite side of the mountains, curious as to what might reside there. If he was correct, to his north would be the area he’d first awakened in to discover he’d been torn away from his family. Out there was also where he had met Levi, originally.

And so far, the forests here were as thick and as sparsely populated with his kind as anything he’d seen to this point. It also, he’d discovered, was darker and had a gloomier feel to it. Enough that Al did not want to venture too far away from the creeks or bodies of water that split the forests just yet, appreciative of the gaps in the canopy overhead, where sunlight could be seen mostly unhindered.

Observation revealed that fish were present in the creek, a blessing the former hunter hoped to take advantage of. He had waded into the water and settled himself beneath the shadow of a tree, so as to slightly disguise his own shape and shadow. Patiently he remained, still and silent, until a fish got too close. There was a lunge, a splash, a saturation of his fur, and a noseful of water, but a small scaly creature was secure in his jaws as he rose up again. The hunter afforded himself a wry grin, though a flash of movement provided a distraction. Someone else was there a short distance away, along the bank of the creek.

”G’day,” Alarick called out cordially, the greeting muffled slightly by the fish he held. At that, he turned to deposit it atop a nearby stone so that he could converse freely.

--@Kisina hopefully you don't mind if I grab this!
