Dead Empress Backwater not a good shade match

He really did not know how to feel, or maybe the more correct statement was that Viorel felt a little bit of everything all at once. Vayko was back in power, that was exciting, and also given their recent disagreement, maybe a little concerning. Then there was the wolf in the room, Modesto’s disrespect and following removal from the pack, and that his co leader had just left him to deal with it. He understood why his cousin had done so, but that didn’t mean Viorel could forgive it.

He had left the den and paced for a while, trying to get his thoughts in order, but no amount of pacing seemed to help. In the end he could only accept that he needed to be with his family and suck it up and tell them what happened. He had to trust that they would accept what happened and support him unlike Vayko had. Coming to a halt near the frozen backwater he lifted his muzzle to the sky and called for his wife, children, and Clover.

Do you know the date? Is this in December or January? Just so I know what I can reference having happened.

Archer Valle

Archer had been having a bit more of an active day, stalking Eros around the territory for a while and then wandering off to explore on his own. He wanted to get to know the area beyond their borders, after all, so he could be the most efficient he could be. Knowledge was always helpful, anyway.

He was finally starting to wander back toward home, thinking about curling up and taking a nap, when he heard Da's call. His ears pricked up and head tilted even as he picked up his pace to answer the summons. What could Da want with them? Why wasn't he calling for the whole pack?

Archer was usually an observant child, ever desiring to learn, so when he saw his Da sitting by the backwater he immediately knew something was wrong. "Da?" he asked as he joined him, "Are you okay?"

Eros followed after his father's summons, just as curious as his sibling. The last time they had all been gathered just the immediate family was when they'd all been introduced to each other. That made this feel very important, and he couldn't help but come up with many theories as to what might have happened when he did join his father and the others.

He was second only to Archer, and as far as he could tell there were no new siblings to be shown off. Eros regarded his father with inquisitive eyes that softened as he began to catch on to something being different. Had... something bad happened? He lowered his tail and ears, and nudged Viorel's shoulder.

Margo usually tried to opt out of anything involving more than one or two wolves if she could, crowds made her nervous.  But the girl knew that when her father called for the family specifically she didn't really have the option to opt out because whatever the reason was for his calling was going to be important.  

Upon arrival the fae noticed that she'd actually arrived pretty early, just Archer, Eros, and dad were here for now. "...Hello" the Valle girl spoke awkwardly, finding a spot near Eros.  She studied her father's expression for a pause.  She thought she could see slight tinges of concern edged the corners of his mouth, and she thought you could even see it in his eyes if you knew where to look.  This made Maeguerite very nervous.  What had her father feeling so serious?

Vanadis awoke to find Viorel gone and subsequently made her way out of the den. She didn't have anything major planned for the day, probably just a few trips outside of the borders to collect herbs, but her mate's call came before those thoughts had even fully formed. She trusted her sons would make their way to him, and when she arrived found that they hadn't disappointed her. One of Clover's children was already in attendance as well, but the woman herself had yet to arrive.

Quietly taking a seat, Vanadis watched her husband, a mild concern lacing her features. What was this about?

This takes place approximately around Dec 22nd. @Oleander and @Clover feel free to hop in on this round, no post order!

Most of his family was quick to answer the call, but Clover and Oleander lagged. Viorel did not have much to worry about in that sense, he assumed they were out together looking at herbs, or perhaps separate but doing their own thing. Oleander was certainly not the must mischievous of his pups, and the father did not fret for his safety. All of that was to say, Viorel was not sure he could keep waiting before informing them of the news. It felt like ants crawling all over his skin under his pelt.

Inhaling sharply he tried to offer his children a reassuring smile, but even Viorel could feel how tight and unconvincing it was on his muzzle. There was nothing he could do but get started, ”This is not the news I wanted to share with you today, but after an argument this afternoon Aunt Modesto has been banished.” He stopped then, swallowing hard, not sure how else to continue, sure there was going to be some type of emotional response. It wasn’t everyday a pack member got ousted, let alone a family member.

She had been right in the middle of foraging for some Black Hawthorn, with a bundle of it in her maw, when Viorel's call rang out. It didn't sound particularly urgent, but his decision to call for just her, Vanadis, and the children had her immediately turning around to head back to the pack borders. Clover moved at a brisk pace, arriving just in time to hear Viorel's last few words.

Her paws brought her to an abrupt halt at the edge of the group, only just managing to keep her grasp on the herbs in her mouth as she stood there shocked. Modesto was banished? She momentarily glanced around at the others, taking note that only her son hadn't yet arrived, before moving to sit next to Margo and Eros and placing the herb carefully on the ground. Apparently this had not been a good meeting to be late to. "What happened?"

Archer Valle

It didn't take long for his brother and sister to arrive, his own ma sitting beside Da while they waited. Da offered them a tight-lipped smile that the youngest Valle didn't believe for an instant, and then he was explaining why. Archer's jaw dropped and he shot a look at both his brother and sister before staring up at his parents.

Clo's voice sounded from the edge of the group. Archer hadn't noticed her arrive and glanced briefly at his mentor before returning his gaze to his Da to wait for the answer. Aunt Modesto? Banished? Archer didn't even know banishment was an option for family. How did one get banished? How did he make sure it didn't happen to him, or Eros?

Eros' attention was temporarily drawn by his sister's appearance, and then his mother's. Normally he would have moved to greet both of them with a physical gesture of affection, but this time he could only muster a small smile in either's direction before focusing in on his father once more.

Viorel got mostly to the point, but the boy found himself struggling to comprehend what he was being told. What did it mean to be banished? Clover appeared at the tail end of the sentence, asking for elaboration he guessed, and Eros stared up at his dad ready to hang on every word. After an argument...

"What's banished?" was his own quiet addition, brows knit with great concern.

Margo furrowed her brows, pausing to think over her father's words and what they meant for a moment. The word that was stumping her was 'banished'. The Valle fae was pretty sure that that word meant something along the lines of 'you have to leave and you can't come back'. That interpretation seemed to line up well with the energy surrounding her parents, but she'd wait for someone to answer Eros, who had thankfully asked for the definition anyways, before reacting or responding in any way. No matter what it meant though, Marguerite was suddenly growing very uncomfortable. She leaned into Eros for emotional support.
