Once upon a time, in the heart of Relic Lore, a cottontail rabbit hopped along the banks of the Heartleaf Stream. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and the rabbit was enjoying the lush greenery that was beginning to sprout around the creek. As he nibbled on some fresh clover, he noticed something out of the corner of his eye.

The rabbit panicked and darted off, zigzagging between the trees and bushes, trying to get away. The rabbit had been gathering materials to build a cozy nest, and he had accidentally left them behind, a pile of twigs, leaves, and grass. He hopped over to a nearby tree and nibbled on some of the bark, pulling off small pieces and leaving them in a pile. He hoped whoever found them would enjoy them.

Oleander Valle
Oleander began his day as usual. For him, this was like any other day. A scavenged breakfast enjoyed by his little thicket, a quick check-in with Mama at her herb den, then a stroll. His paws brought him to the river. Not surprising.

Today, the air was crisp and alive with birdsong. Spring had arrived in full swing. He lowered his head to inspect the clover underfoot. His nose twitched twice and that was when he saw it from the corner of his eye. A rabbit. The first of the season.

His heart gave a leap and before he could even get into gear, the rabbit was off. Spindly legs faltered a few steps but it was easy to tell that it was not worth the energy. The wolf turned his attention back to where his prey had been. Nestled in the clover was a sizeable pile of loot. Oleander's maw pulled up in a smug smile. His inner cub could not have been happier. Small sticks of decent lengths, leaves of all kinds, a small but plush pile of sweet grass, bark shavings galore...

A cautious tail lifted in a high wag as he peered through the trees. While he hadn't meant to really startle the poor thing, he tilted his head to one side. They stared at one another and Oleander's brow furrowed. Was this a gift?
