The witch was starting to get tired of this little tour, wearing their paws down with so little to show for it – despite leaving their calling card for anyone to follow. These woods were basically dead. The scent of wolf might lurk in some corners, but it was fleeting. Short of going straight to the brine-water pack and risk the alpha’s ire, the One-Eyed Prophet was out of ideas. They missed their mountain, with its blessed cold and holy ground, far above this abandoned mire.   But as long as their body was still in the season’s grasp, the witch would continue their vigil, hoping to fulfil the God’s foresight. If only they could manage to draw the necessary attention, that was! Things had seemed a lot simpler the year before, when they were still just a young girl feeling this itch for the first time, and all they were looking to do was soothe it. But now that there was so much more at stake, it suddenly wasn’t so simple; Perhaps it’s a test… A trial to see if they were worthy of carrying the promised life – or perhaps they had misread the vision all together.   A frown creased the prophet’s brow as they came to a halt, looking down at a frozen creek barring their way. It had been quite a few moons since they last questioned themselves about the God’s messages and the fresh taste of insecurity was not at all welcome. Things would have been much simpler if Paeryl hadn’t vanished; I wouldn’t have to be down here putting out lures for strangers…! Whatever the gods plan was, it was starting to look rather hazy. It was a really weird time of the year, but that was not something she was ever going to bring up again. She had mentioned in passing to her dad that everyone was acting weird and in return the blond child had gotten a long and rather embarrassing lecture about where cubs come from. She had ended the conversation as quickly as possible, cheeks burning under her pelt and scampered off so she could forget the topic had ever been broached - or at least try to.

That had been a few days ago and still she felt like she couldn’t look her dad in the eye. She was certainly dreading next year when all of those weird things were going to happen to her. Hera wished she had her sister to talk to, Kalysta had been gone for a long time again, and she wasn’t going to talk to the weird twins about it, they never even talked back. All she could count on from them was their creepy blank blinking stares and a sense of unease like they were talking to each other in their heads or something.

So, she had decided to take off for the day and just try to get out and forget about all of the…tension? That was happening back home. Instead she had accidentally stumbled upon a woman who brought a flush back up her neck when she realized this stranger was also having the spring fever. Hera was going to turn around and disappear when she noticed the tawny wolf had one distinct marking and couldn’t help but blurt out, ”What happened to your eye?” It didn’t even cross her mind that that could come across as rude. She stood there, a few feet away, waiting for her answer.
