you can set yourself on fire
Gold eyes lingered upon her silver facade. Searching, he thought, for something that might appear as uncertainty. He could travel so far if need be. But the Lyall did not see even a wisp of doubt. There only seemed an echo of confidence, and assurance. The smile that had fallen from his face returned, seeing it so plainly. Reminding him of Elettra herself. For what was a journey after all else she had faced? She would push forward. Follow her heart, like her father. Do what needed to be done. He admired her for it. It was something he felt he struggled with, and wished he had more conviction about making choices.
As she would give him one last embrace it would take great force to keep a hold on his emotions. His brain wanted to scream he could not let her from his sight. After two deaths, why wouldn't another follow. But, his heart he felt no such thing. He actually believed fate would give them a break. He would nudge his nose to her ear, still half wishing as she pulled away he could just go with her. For now, this was where he was needed. Where he half believed where he was wanted. So he watched her go, letting her fade from his sight. He'd never been one for praying, but he did then. Prayed to her fallen parents to keep watch over her.
