Sven Archer
For @Kerberos only. <3 Scouting dem 1/3. forwarded dated to 12/12.

the devil is & always will

Despite @Ravenna and @Leotie's concerns, Sven felt in his bones that this was the right course of action. He wouldn't surprised too if there was an uneasiness, at least with his cousin, that he wouldn't be able to hold his tongue either, that his abrasive nature might make things worse. This was a chance as well to prove that he was capable of being diplomatic. There shouldn't be any hard feelings between the packs, even if he was far from happy with what had been done to Leotie. Still, none of the pieces he'd been given upon his return had added up to any kind of picture that he could make sense of. Something was off, had gone wrong, and he would either smooth things over now, or ensure that the two packs could at least co-exist despite whatever differences had arisen in his absence.

As he approached the borders of the pack's territory, he dissected the scents that emanated from the land while maintaining a respectful distance. Naira's scent was missing. Not just faded, but gone. That was quite the large flag in itself. At least Kerberos' presence was easily gleaned, however, the man clearly still a dominant force within the Draw. If he had any kind of shot of talking things through, it would be with the wolf that had once been his friend. Even though Leotie had told him that Kerb had been one of the wolves to escort her from the pack.

With hope for the best, but prepared for the worst, Sven tilted back his skull and sent up a howl, requesting Kerberos' presence alone.

Kerberos Rigel

He had been lingering around the territory like a ghost, defensive of any little sound. Suka was missing and Kerberos was kicking himself for it each passing moment. Treyah and Triell had endured too much. She did not deserve a little brother missing and her father did not deserve a son missing. In the back of his mind was a small voice that felt like it was growing louder each passing day.

"The world will swallow me whole. The world will swallow me whole..."

It was a nagging sensation but it seemed to hush when a familiar voice called for him. The world was still for a moment. He felt warm, he felt good and then....then he felt bad again. His stance did not take on a fully dominate one as he rushed towards the borders of the Draw. His features would have brightened had he not been so tired and perhaps a little rough looking around the edges.

The large form came into view but something was off. He slowed his pace as to not barrel into the Archer. Brows furrowed above dimmed yellow eyes. Scars. The scattered lines hadn't been there before. Kerberos remembered the form of Sven being a smooth one, no knicks or lines.

"Sven..." Was all he managed at first as yellow eyes looked for pools of silver. "What happened?"

They both looked different from the last time they'd seen each other. The Rigel patriarch might not have worn his scars across his pelt as Sven did, but they were there are the same, festering behind his eyes. The corners of the Archer's eyes pinched with concern that he didn't dare properly show, not just yet. Kerberos, on the other hand, wore his worry readily upon his features. When at last roaming yellow met still sterling, he felt his heart clench as he remembered all the things that gaze once made him feel. Up here, he'd been able to be a different man than he really was. Brighter, care-free. With Kerberos, he'd managed to play that part as well as share one of the darkest parts of himself. But that was over now. He couldn't be here as Sven the friendly neighbor boy. Now, he was the Ridge.

"Some loner I'd chased away came back with friends," he answered, "and now they're in the ground."

How he would love to ask after Kerberos' mate, the children she had been heavy with, but such light-hearted questions had to be saved for after he knew, truly, where the two packs stood.

"I know what happened with Leotie. That she was ousted because of her relationship to me. That Naira is against us. I need to know, Kerb; is there a problem between the Ridge and the Draw?"

Kerberos Rigel
There was no shock at the fact that the loners were now in the ground. He did not know the statistics but surely if the Ridge had got a hold of them then they paid for what they had done. Simple.

But his face no longer held a tender gaze at the large male's next words. Unknowingly, Kerberos threw up a wall to protect himself. His stance was rigid but not defensive. "Naira is no longer with us." He stated bluntly. "She disappeared and as far as I'm aware, the ill feelings towards the Ridge disappeared with her." In fact, there had even been little interaction with Willow Ridge since Naira's tossing of Leotie. Kerberos had other more pressing manners to deal with up here in the Draw.

He had said his piece. Now it was up to Sven to decide if there was a problem here between the Ridge and the Draw.

Sven noticed the shift, and felt his own muscles tighten as well. The darkening of Kerberos' presence indicated to the Archer that he was about to receive an affirmative answer, that there was indeed something ill brewing between the two packs that he had somehow been oblivious to. That his desire to reach out had only brought negatives back to the Ridge. Thankfully, however, the Rigel's words proved the omens Sven thought he saw wrong. That it had all lain with Naira was a concern of its own as well as a relief. What the hell had she against the Ridge? Was she still out there? Would she ever be a concern again? As far as I'm aware, Kerberos said. What was this wall still between them, then?

Sven watched the other for a moment, before finally he moved. Perhaps he was more foolish than he'd thought himself to be, had more heart than he'd wanted to face up to. Whatever it was, it pulled at the center of his chest and connected him directly to Kerberos'. He attempted to press his crown against the other man's neck and embrace him.

"I missed you."

Kerberos Rigel

binging on unearned attention

i've said awful things, such awful things

Once upon a time, he would have cried into the thick fur of his pale friend. Yet he had cried too much these past few months, frustrated with himself and the world around him. He was so terribly tired of the crying and moping that all he could do was cherish the male's close presence.

"I missed you too." The Rigel rumbled genuinely. "Can we put everything aside for a moment?" He asked softly as feelings (affection? simple enjoyment?) seemed to roll about in his mind. "I want time for us. Just us." There was so much to talk about but he was fine if they talked about nothing too. They could lounge around like a pair of lazy children. Kerberos could pretend he wasn't a leader with the weight of the world on his shoulders and Sven, well Kerb would let his friend be whatever he wished to be.

Kerberos did not pull away nor block his advances, and that alone caused the Archer to relax immensely. Better yet was when the sentiment was returned, and by the time the Draw alpha asked that they just spend time together without any pretenses, Sven had all but melted into the other wolf. His tail gave a few earnest wags as he spoke into the other man's throat.

"I'd love that."

It was safe now, wasn't it? He hadn't gotten any details, but Naira had been the problem and now she was gone and for the moment, Sven could let it all rest at that. The Ridge had no enemies here, that was all he needed to know to act without risking betraying his home. Briefly, his mind flitted to @Leotie, how she would feel regardless; it hadn't been Naira alone that had ousted her, after all. Yet wasn't that between her and Kerberos? Couldn't his summer friend still mean so much to him?

"Tell me anything."
