Secret Falls the flood

It was much less fun with the rabbit or her playmate. Bracken listened to the surrounding forest, a little overwhelmed with how quiet it seemed now. It felt like every Pines' creature was holding its breath and watching after their failed chase; Bracken wasn't sure whether to be flattered or uncomfortable with so much attention. For a moment she considered which way her prey had gone, but then quickly pushed it aside at a quick sound in the under brush. Someone was coming and she very much hoped it was Arion, and not an adult -particularly not her mother. How embarrassing would it be to explain the failed chase to Iopah?

She gave a quiet bark of joy at Arion's familiar face. Her scrawny puppy chest filled and she looked back in the direction she believed the rabbit to have taken. "It was so fast, 'n it musta gone into some hide-y hole!" Perhaps when Bracken was older she would be fast enough, but then, wouldn't she would be too big to go into the hole after it? Bracken bit her lip as she considered that scenario. How did the (much bigger) adults ever catch rabbits? She nodded at his suggestion, jostling enthusiastically at his side as they started back home. "'s a good thing you made them marks," she whispered over quietly, "now we won't ever get lost."

Once back in the territory, they set about finding @Zia or Iopah for some rabbit hunting lessons. She was determined that next time they caught the rabbit, and the girl pup knew exactly how to get back to that rabbit next -all they had to do was follow Arion's marks.
