RE: Nalda, you find a trio of duck eggs!
- Before Noon, Sunny - 58 ° F/14 ° C
"Don't go shouting out loud that you're claiming the crown" Bright sunlight glittered off the cool, blank water, reflected in glittering patterns on nearby trees and rocks. Pockets of warm air gathered around the creek as the day slowly heated up, fighting a battle against the ever rushing water, still holding the coldness of the snow it had once been. Nalda hiked along in the borderland between the two, right on the bank where mud from the gushing creek was drying in the sun. The young wolf moved nimbly, batty ears perked and nose hanging low over the ground, searching along with her eyes for any tracks of prey. While she still preferred scavenging, she had become an avid hunter over the past months, often tracking down rabbits or forest fowl to bring home to the caches; Once her own belly was full. It was a way to pass time, and one that gave her an excuse to stray from the pack territory, to explore for herself as well as hunt. Today she was heading south, following the creek that had been so creatively named for the temperature of its water, hoping to jump some creature stopping by to drink. And she did end up catching something by surprise, but unfortunately that something had wings, taking off with a loud quacking and much flapping of wings, alerting every other critter within a mile's radius to her presence. "Oh for fuck's sake!" She barked irately, head and tail rearing up, and every hair in between standing on end; There goes any chance of eating today! But some luck seemed to be smiling on her, for as she hunkered down to move on, stepping into the tall grass nearby, she came across a small nest on the ground, abandoned by the mother duck in her fear. And in it was sitting three, fat, bluish grey eggs; Or maybe not..! The wolfess grinned to herself, bowing immediately to feast on the bounty. Word Count: 319 Thoughts "Speech" |
