Set just shy of midnight on 06/05/18
The land held an odd lure to it, once that set the young yearling on edge as she trekked across it. chocolate brown eyes were widened with fear as her nostrils flared up. The scent on the cool breeze had the girl fearful. Coyotes, it was a bit twisted, but that smell was comforting. There were no recognizable scents of wolves that she knew on the air. The scent of a pack barely clung to the dirt covered girl’s fur as she tried in desperation to wash it off. She tensed up, catching her own scent, her fur rising as she momentarily thought it was one of her old pack and family.
Aeliana’s ears angled forward, straining to catch any noise that she could as she slowed to an exhausting walk. Each step caused her to grimace in quiet discomfort. Her slender legs screamed in protest with every inch forward that she took upon the ground. “Sorry.” she murmured, an apology to her self. Each breath caused her raggedy sides to heave with exertion, She had a chance and she had taken it. Running, and running, it seemed to be all she knew now, but she wouldn’t be able to keep it up much longer.
The shore of a vast lake came into view, eliciting a soft whimper as the young and small female slowed down to a sluggish crawl. Brillant shafts of moonlight broke through the cloudy sky, almost like a sign to the girl. Minutes dragged by as she dragged by before slumping over at the water’s edge. She lapped eagerly at the water, feeling far more at ease under the moon’s comforting shine then she had during that day. At night she couldn’t be traced, the water helped as well, or so she believed.
