When she thought the children were finally settled down for the night, she slipped outside of the den. The mother had no interest in going very far from the den. In fact, she did her business and settled down to lay right by the entrance. A soft sigh escaped her as she looked up to the sky. Stars were visible where there was a break in the clouds. It was nice to have a silent moment to herself. These days there was usually at least one child pulling on her ear or tugging on her tail. Occasionally she got lucky and they entertained each other.
Despite her everlasting love for her children, she did miss certain things.
Not to mention she felt rather out of shape. She had put on a few pounds during the pregnancy that she was having a hard time shaking off. She supposed that made for good support when cuddling the children, though. The thought caused a small laugh to stir from her.
