Vlarindara

The news lifted her spirits as she settled onto her haunches, smiling softly as she listened to Volkan's story.. and her explanation. "I'm glad to hear it, Volkan.." She shifted, her ears pointing towards the darker pelted wolf, glancing out of her left eye at her companion. "Ruiko...How is Swift River doing?" She remembered the last meeting with Ruiko... and the tense meeting it had led to. "I'm happy for you, You seem to have come a long way since we last met."

"The pack's, well, fine," she supposed aloud, mind still occupied with the way Vlar repeated Ruiko's name. They'd met before, huh? She guessed Ruiko was a pretty popular guy. "Indru's back, he has everything under control. And the pups are healthy, so." She concluded, not sure what else Vlar might want to know. It made her wonder: what history did the white wolf have with Swift River? How did she meet Ruiko in the first place, anyway?

"I have grown a little, I guess," Volkan shrugged finally, a small smile crossing her dark lips. "So've you," she replied softly, oblivious to the idea that Vlarindara might actually feel worse off than when she'd last saw her— in the yearling's eyes, experiences like the one Vlar had only made you stronger, better. After a second she realized that her comment might have seemed off-base, so her pale eyes flickered once toward her paws as she directed the topic to the one that had pressed her mind moments before. "You talk about Ruiko like you know him. Have you guys met?"

Vlarindara

"We...have met.. Yes.. but... It was...tense. Ruiko and I..we...Well..We don't get along all that well. I harbor no ill will towards him, but I'm sure the feeling is not mutual." She shifted nervously, her head lowering so her nose almost touched the snow, her tail hanging limply near her ankles. She hadn't gotten better since their last meeting. If anything, she was standing on the doorstep of this world.. and the next. One foot in both worlds.

As soon as Vlar began her reply, Volkan flinched, the realization that this topic wasn't the best one having hit her too late. Still she listened with open ears, her face assuming a blank expression, despite the lingering hint of concern behind her icy eyes. They fell to the ground briefly as Vlarindara seemed to do the same. It was as though speaking of Ruiko sucked the very life from her... what could've happened to make things that bad between them?

The younger female looked back to the older one after a moment, curiously eating away at her insides. Could she ask? Was it worth— maybe not, Volkan reasoned before letting herself finish the thought. The white wolf had seen what seemed like a lot of pain... and it pained the static yearling somewhat, having to witness her relive her difficult memories here and now.

"Eh, he can be a little prickly, I guess," she responded with a small chuckle, not sure what else to say. She couldn't speak for her own relationship with the regal yet roguish male, as she did, after all, consider him a friend— or at least the closest thing she had here in Relic Lore. But at the same time, she could see where Vlar was coming from. Odd how it had been seemingly by chance that Volkan and Ruiko got along at their first meeting; for whatever reason, they had been inclined not to hate one another. Maybe, she assumed, it was easy to get on his bad side, and Volkan herself had just been lucky?

"...But I hope... that won't stop us from meeting again," she resolved at last with a serene smile, deciding not to push the topic further. "I'm not sure exactly when we'll be leaving Swift River, but I'm told it's soon. And then, you can find us to the North. Even if Ruiko's got a thorn in his ass, I'll be around," she finished, with a wink and a dry grin.

Vlarindara

"I'm glad that you're still willing to meet with me, Volkan. I appreciate it.. Perhaps.. Perhaps I will come find you.. maybe join the pack. Just.. not right now." Vlarindara was well aware that to a new pack, her ....condition would be of little help. More of a hindrance than anything. She sighed and lifted her head, letting her eyes bespeak her torn thoughts. "I-I'm glad to see you're doing so well for yourself.. "

She frowned, her ears lowering to rest against her neck, a sigh puffing a gust of mist from her lips. "Just promise me that you'll continue to do well?" She was worried, yes.. About the younger wolf. About what would happen if the same thing she had done happened to the other female.

ooooo pretty table :D going to end now, as this has become pretty backdated, hope that's ok? <3

Admittedly, Volk found herself a little surprised that Vlar seemed to take her up on the offer, even if not immediately. She couldn't speak much for how Ruiko would react to Volkan bringing the white female to the new pack, but hoped he could learn to forgive her for whatever had happened between them. It just... pained her, she thought as she watched the snowy wolf sigh to herself, that such a caring, generous soul had suffered so much misfortune. One of the nicest wolves she'd met yet in Relic Lore, and she'd ended up this way...? It didn't make sense. But, maybe there was a side to Vlarindara that Volkan didn't know.

Her pale eyes wore the concern of a friend as she stood still as a statue, weathered tail hanging limply at her ankles. "...Promise," she responded gently, guilt filling her heart. In that moment, she realized her youth, her vigor, her naiveté— perhaps, she knew now, the things that had coaxed Vlarindara into her own ruin. It... scared her a little, made her feel uncomfortable that her situation had improved while Vlar's had downturned in such a way...

"Vlar, I should go now," she said apologetically, lifting a paw with hesitation she hadn't shown since her first day in Relic Lore. "...I want you to come North if you ever need... food, shelter... some fish," she added, a smile coming to her colorless face at the allusion to their first meeting. "If you run into Ruiko, tell him you only came to speak with me. I dunno, maybe he'll listen."

She began to turn away, icy eyes falling to the cool ground, away from the white wolf with a final smile. "It was good to see you, Vlar." And with that, she shut her eyes, inhaling deeply as she started off into the trees.
