Magg was doing her best to act positive and confident, because the reality was that she was terrified that she was making the wrong decision. That her leg would find another way to knock her out and keep her down, maybe even putting her in a position that even Galen wouldn't be able to get her out of. Not without a pack. Once they got far enough, they were totally on their own again. So far, though, they were making good ground, at least considering her injury. She still needed to pause and rest often, usually leaned against Galen's shoulder, but at least they were chipping away at the distance between them and home. The conversation between the trio had lulled into silence, and after a few moments of quiet, Magg figured it was as good a time as any to ask what had been on her mind. "So... who's your grandma?" |
Ally was quiet. She'd thanked @Finley before they'd headed out, but otherwise she'd barely spoken. She knew she was lucky to have been invited along, especially since Magg was so hurt. She would be just another burden on the pair headed up the mountain, and she'd almost considered staying to wait... but the chance that her dad might be up there, waiting for her, was just too tempting to ignore. She'd almost convinced herself that when they arrived, he would be there waiting.
Her conversation with Chan had also left her somewhat shaken. She tried not to dwell on it.
When Magg spoke it took a moment for Ally to realize it was her she was speaking to. She glanced up, mixed eyes quickly flicking to the ground again. "Dad said she's the leader of the Cove; my mom's mom. Grandma Aquene." Her words were quiet and she was ready to shrink away should Magg grow upset with her.
