She had happened upon these lands in her search for another human camp. The tawny female had been chased away from the last one she inhabited, but that was the routine. The strange two legged creatures let you stay for a while, then they ran you off. After that Veronika would move to another place containing human life. It was so much easier for her to search through trash then attempt to hunt on her own. She had been in captivity so long that she wasn't even sure if she could hunt. Especially with her bum leg; Another product of the hell she went through in that glass case. However, the large fae was not worried. If there was anything in the world she would call herself good at, it was survival. Regardless of what happened she would find a way to make it, if only to find her brother. He was out here in the world somewhere. Taking another bite of the blackberries littering the ground, she did what she could to fill her stomach before she had to move on.

A laugh pulled her attention away from her meal and onto the horizon. Her ears strained to detect the noise again, and her eyes scoured the field in front of her. A familiar scent flooded her nostrils, and her heart dropped. It was a puppy, she could see him now. He seemed to be playing a game with a small flock of birds. Every time the little brown cub would jump after them they would fly a few yards away cawing and chirping. Her body was a mix of emotions as she watched the silently. He was so beautiful, and yet she cursed the one who bore him. Why did she have to go through life never knowing the joys of having a part of her live on. She would leave no legacy, not a soul would even remember her, for she had done nothing great. She couldn't even be a mother, and it angered her to no end. The best she could do would be to foster another's pups, but what good was that? It wasn't often that a wolf would come across an abandoned litter of pups, or that a mother would let another care for her pups for more than a few minutes. A sigh escaped her lips as she watched the young male from afar. The anger that had previously crept up her pelt was now melting into despair. She had felt so defeated since she was separated with Comrade, and this was just icing on the cake. Every second she was reminded of her flaws, but she was accepting them. What else could she do? Her body craved sleep, as it always did when her emotions caught up with her, but instead she decided to keep watching.

The scent of an approaching wolf turned her attention away from the excitable pup. It could have been the mother waiting to chase her away, or maybe it wasn't. Either way she didn't plan on moving. After all, she was doing no wrong. Veronika had not crossed over onto their boarders, nor had she made any attempt to contact the little male. Therefore she would stay put, if only to watch over the little one for another minute or two. Light rain began to fall from the heavens, and Veronika thought it fitting.
