Pip Mizuno-Sørenson
Night; 55.4 ° F, 13 ° C; sparse clouds.

Pip carefully extracted herself from the cuddle-pile of sleeping wolves consisting of Kjell, Aegir, and Kyrios. The ragtag band had been wandering the Lore and despite what she'd expected, the little mute found she enjoyed the freedom. While pack life brought safety and the comfort of familiarity, it often lacked in adventure. Every day alongside her traveling pack, the she-wolf had plenty of new things to explore and discover alongside her son. With him, she could see all in a new light and it wasn't so terrifying.

Despite the warmth of the others, Pip was restless. Silently, she padded out of earshot before breaking into a run. While the moon above was hidden behind one of two small clouds in the sky, there was still enough light to see by this night. Even in a forest unknown to her, Pip had become accustomed to navigating her way through them. It was funny - not so long ago, she'd been terrified at the very idea of wandering in a forest alone. And now, here she was, seeking the comfort of its solitude.

The mute ran as fast as she could until her limbs quaked with fatigue. The female panted, her laugh breathless when she looked up to see the two clouds and now a sliver of the moon reflected on a pristine lake's surface. Even if she had no direction in mind, she always seemed to find water.

It was so peaceful to look at - the sea had never been this calm. Even on the quietest day when the wind was still, the waves still crashed against the shores of Bella Coola. But not here. There was only the barest flicker of sound as the water lapped with loving caresses against the pebbles and dirt that made up its shore.

Pip sat and lifted her muzzle to the sky, smiling as a breeze ruffled the thickening fur around her face. The night had a bite of winter to it. Soon enough, the snows would be upon them. She squashed down that particular anxiety - a worry for another time. They would survive the winter without a home to call their own. The female refused to let such thoughts sour her serene mood.

A russet ear flickered back at the sound of pawfalls, but she did not turn, imagining it was one of her boys come to find out if anything was wrong. So relaxed was the mute that she didn't even consider it could be a stranger, for what could a stranger care for a woman sitting on her own staring up at the night sky?
