Entering, and exiting the den were now daily occurrences. The lake bird was no longer afraid of what the world just outside their home had to offer. In fact, she actually found herself looking forward to exploring That's why she barreled right out of their little den without a second thought. That was, until she took in the light coating of white which covered everything. Blinking once, then twice the girl waited for her eyes to readjust, as they had that first time. Unfortunately, the blinding light never ceased, and as the cool temperature of snow burned into her paws, Chenoa froze. Terror pulled at the tiny girl's features, and a wail escaped her. She called for @Elwood, or mom, or dad, or anyone who would listen. Someone had to save her!
The children were rather active now, keeping her on her toes. Luckily neither of them seemed to get into too much trouble so far. She was positive that the times when she stayed in the den while they tussled just outside that Kajika had a watchful on them. Although she did stay near them even if he was around. Maternal instincts.
It was those instincts that sent her rushing out of the den to see what caused one of the children to wail. It made her blood run cold to think that she could have let something happened to them. Her first children and maybe her only children, she didn't know what the future held. She treasured her son and daughter like rare gems.
Chenoa. The mother whispered as she moved to stand over her dark-furred daughter. What is wrong? She asked before noticing that a dusting of snow had seemed to cover the lands. How....odd. Perhaps it was due to the altitude of the lake pack but she thought it too late for such a weather occurrence like snow.
Since the birth of his children he didn't wander too far from the den or if he did it wasn't for very long. Often he would lay outside of it keeping a close watch on them. Since they had grown old enough to leave the den he was ever watchful they didn't get themselves into any trouble they wouldn't be able to get out of.
The weather had chilled as he lay under a tree that wasn't far from the entrance of the den. He'd returned from a patrol a little earlier and planned to check the caches but he wanted to rest a bit first. He'd dozed off until he heard his daughters wail. Amber eyes shot open searching the area for where she was. After a moment he realized a fresh layer of snow was in the ground and covering him.
To him it wasn't that abnormal bit for a girl who hadn't ever seen snow it made sense she'd be afraid. As he rose to his paws the alpha saw Birtie exit the den, a smile formed across his maw seeing other and daughter together. He made his way over to them and licked his daughters crown before doing the same to Birtie’s cheek. “I am curious to know what it wrong as well my little dove,” he said looking between the two females.
Relief came as soon as her murky gaze washed over her parents. Thank goodness someone had come to save her! Sniffling, Chenoa lifted her right foreleg in an attempt to put as much distance between herself and the chilly ground as possible. "S-ssss-ssscold." Her lower lip pushed out, as a pout etched itself onto her tiny features. "Mummmmma" For added effect, she switched legs, now holding her left fore-paw close to her chest.
Unfortunately, the shift in weight to just three limbs made the Tallis cub even more unsteady, so Elwood's tug succeeded only in pulling her downward. A tiny squeak sounded as soon as her rear touched the ground.
