Maybe {M}?

The sun would rise, the seasons would change, wolves would be born, and wolves would die. All of those things were inevitable. Even the Gods, bound by the threads of fate, were unable to change was was and what had to be, which meant that this feeling... well that was inevitable too.

When the first wayward feelings of spring finally hit, Saga tried to make herself scarce without being absent, which was a feat unto itself, but as the days passed and the feeling grew stronger, the woman found it harder and harder to stay away. Somehow she had thought herself stronger than instinct, as if she would be able to deny nature itself, simply because she wanted to. So when the monochrome fae found herself following Hudson's trail she told herself that it was definitely because she needed to touch base with him. After all, she'd scouted a small herd of deer to the south of the forest. Never mind that it was the middle of the night, and never mind that from what she could tell he happened to be entirely alone.

As soon as her eyes fell over his form, she spoke, hoping that she was far enough away not to startle him. "Can't sleep?"

Hudson "Huddy" Macieo
Well if you wanted honesty that's all you had to say

Hudson liked spring, he did, but not this part of it. He was no stranger to the comfort of a woman, he’d had a one night stand or two himself, but unlike most men it wasn’t what he looked forward to every year. This was especially because he’d grown up surrounded by women; his sister, his two aunts, his mother and grandmother. The only testosterone found for miles other than himself was his father and grandfather. Thus, he’d been subject to their ever changing moods when the season came, their annoyed nips, their sudden crying, the neverending theatrics, and their horrible stench. It would fill the air for miles it felt like, their estrogen so potent it made his fur stand on end. He’d make himself as scarce as possible during that month in spring, not wanting to be around his parents anyways should they get up to any...bleh…shenanigans.

He’d figured it would be the same in the Chasm despite the men outranking the women in numbers. But, he was wrong. Not in the stench, but in it smelling awful. In fact, it smelled so sweet he damn near wanted to throw up. Especially Saga’s, the headiness of it drawing him in like a starving wolf to a fresh carcass. He’d forced himself to stay away from her and it seemed she was doing the same with the rest of the pack, which both pleased and annoyed him. He missed her silver body tucked against his in the night, their muzzle buried in each other’s ruff as they snoozed or her quick witted remarks about his ‘snoring’. But, it was for the best. At least, he tried to convince himself of that.

The man had taken the night shift, mostly because it was his favorite shift. He liked the quiet of the night, the way the moon shone down on the land and blanketed everything in gentle silence. While the world was asleep he was awake, while everyone else’s minds were empty he felt like his could finally think. He took a deep breath to breath in the night air and almost choked on the smell of Saga’s approach, masking it at a short, dry cough. He turned his head as she approached, the sight of her cinnamon and stardusted pelt beneath the moonlight a sight to behold. He could already feel his head going foggy. He turned back forward.

“Mmm, night watch,” he replied, his silver gaze looking out toward the Sierra Hills to the east of their territory. It felt so weird to think of it as their territory, a pack’s territory. He still wasn’t sure if he was the right fit for the job, but the others had elected him, so they must have had some sort of trust in him and he didn’t want to disappoint.

“How about you? Riv tryna smother ya in yer sleep?” he asked with a bemused grin at the thought of the affectionate yearling.

Before the claiming, Saga thought she might return home, especially now that she had some basic directions-even more specific ones if she met Azra after the thaw-but in finding this place, the woman thought she'd finally come to understand her predicament. The Gods had placed her here for a reason. Initially, she thought the test would be to find her way home, but in laying claim to this forest... well, now she thought that maybe there was more to it than that. She would still make the trip some day, if only to find out what had become of her family, but for now this was where she was meant to be.

"Mmm." Nodding, the woman continued to close the gap between them, stopping at a distance she deemed both respectable and not too awkward.  "Anything interesting happen?" She forced her gaze away, following his towards the red-soaked hills. Whatever call had pulled them here, she hoped that they might answer it, that fate would draw them towards whatever goal or purpose was to be had. The Chasm wolves were destined for something great, Saga could just feel it.

As the conversation continued, a smile passed over her moonlit features. She was pretty sure that all of the wolves held a soft spot for their youngest member, Hudson included. "No. I was out all night." Because she was supposed to be staying away, but she left that thought unsaid. "There's a herd passing through, and I thought we might want to have a hunt before they continue on." Which, for some reason, couldn't have waited until morning when everyone else would be up.

Well if you wanted honesty that's all you had to say

Hudson noticed the way that she stopped further away from him that she normally did. From the beginning they’d been somewhat touchy feely, if only for the sake of staying warm in the dead of winter. Then, it had just become a habit, their pelts intertwining in a mixture of cinnamon and salt and pepper when they came across each other. He wasn’t a romantic in any sense of the word and he still wasn’t entirely sure about the extent of his feelings for her. He knew he felt comfortable in her presence, he knew she was able to calm him and seemed to understand where his mind was at half the time, but what did that all mean? The Macieo hadn’t ever really ‘liked’ anyone before despite his nearly 6 years of life, but he also hadn’t felt the same way in the presence of those few one night stands as he did with Saga. Ugh, it was all so confusing.

She asked if anything interesting had happened and he shook his head, Nah, but I’ll consider that a good thing,” he replied. She went on to mention that she’d been out all night and had found a herd of deer passing through. He glanced over at her with raised brows, surprised she’d found it before he had. But, then again, she’d been the biggest help when he’d been tracking the elk at the beginning of their journey. They’d spent a lot of time together then, too, sitting on a nearby ridge either in silence or making idle, comfortable conversation. Her shoulder leaning against him as they sheltered from the breeze...he gave himself a shake. God, get your head together, Hudson.

“Good catch, we can bring it up to th’others tomorrow. First big hunt in th’ new homestead,” he replied with a nod.

The silence stretched between them for a few moments as they both stared out over the horizon before he finally spoke again. “How’re you feelin’ ‘bout all this? I’ve mentioned b’fore, but I wasn’t raised in a pack so it’s a lil’...foreign t’ me.”

He didn't seem to act as if anything was amiss, which made Saga wonder if it was.. just her. She had assumed that he would.. be different somehow, like maybe spring would change things. What she thought that the season might change remained illusive, even to her, but she felt it all the same.

Though she agreed with the fact that he considered the lack of happenings a good thing, Saga was unable to stop the playful roll of her eyes. "Don't turn into a boring old man on me yet, Hudson." What was life without a little excitement? Only moons ago they had sat on the hillside talking about going to inspect a fire. Certainly he hadn't lost all that spirit already? "But yeah, that's a good idea. I'm sure they'll be excited."

For her, the silence that stretched on wasn't the same comfortable silence that she had come to expect with him. It was charged with thoughts, and feelings, and all the things she'd never really had to consider, like the way she felt about him. Their relationship might have never been exactly conventional. Necessity became familiarity, and familiarity became habit. They were just... comfortable, and until now she'd never really had to delve any deeper into it.

When Huddy finally spoke, it was a question that fell from his tongue. "I.. uh.. I don't know." Her eyes flickered from the horizon, passing over his maw before coming to rest on his silvery orbs "It's a lot, but it feels right, like this is exactly where we're supposed to be." His scent was.. intoxicating, and it was already getting harder to form a coherent string of thoughts that didn't involve him.  Saga probably should have made some excuse to leave, but her paws remained rooted to their spot. "What about you? How are you feeling about it?"

He felt shocked, for some reason, when she gave a playful jibe at him. He turned to look at her, a few blinks passing across his expression before it felt like he rebooted and a grin stretched across his maw. “I ain’t old yet, these bones’ll still kick some ass fer you an’ everyone else here if they have to,” he teased, instinctively leaning to bump his shoulder against her. The contact sent a jolt through his shoulder to his head and his loins and he sucked in a sharp breath, staring at her for a moment before he realized what he was doing. He cleared his throat and leaned away, auds twitching awkwardly as he fixed his gaze on the horizon once again.

The wind plowed her scent into him once again, damn near knocking him over and for a moment all he could hear was the blood pounding in his ears and feel how close she was, even though she was a foot away. Then, there was silence and he realized she’d said something and he’d heard none of it. “I..uh, sorry. Didn’t catch that,” he apologized, his brows furrowed. God, this wasn’t like him. He wasn’t tongue tied, ever, he didn’t ever give a rat’s ass what others thought of him because if they didn’t like it, they didn’t need to stick around. But he cared about Saga sticking around, as much as it surprised him. He released a pent up breath, if he were human he would have been running a hand over his face. “Fuck it, I can’t do this tiptoeing shit. You smell delicious, I can’t fuckin’ think straight,” he said bluntly, fixing his silver gaze on her. There he was, that was the real Hudson.

His shoulder felt like a tidal wave, crashing into her and sending a shockwave through her entire system. It was all she could do to blink, letting whatever response she might have had die on her tongue. He was quick to realize his misstep, awkwardly pulling away, though Saga found herself wishing he hadn't. Pale russet ears ears fell flat against her skull as she made an attempt to look literally anywhere else.

The gust of wind ruffled her fur, but did nothing to dissipate the growing heat inside her.  The fae tried biting her lip in hopes that the action might ground her, but her eyes found their way back to him as he apologized.  If she didn't go now, she'd give in. She knew it.

Pear-hued orbs flickered back to him as he apologized, ready to repeat herself, but finding something else there.. something that felt inevitable. Her heartbeat quickened as her veins caught on fire. Whatever this feeling was, it was all encompassing, blocking out everything that wasn't distinctly him, and she found herself even more aware of his presence than she thought were possible. His scent, the sound of his breath, the way his eyes poured over her. Every movement, every detail, every bit of it forced her to dance closer to the edge.

He gave in first, or at least that is what she'd tell herself. "Well, if we're not tiptoeing anymore," Her confidence had returned, and a wicked smile had formed along the edges of her maw. "then we don't have to think, either."

For a long moment there was nothing, no sound, no words, just them. His words bridged the gap between them, leaving the air heavy and electric like just before a thunderstorm. He wondered how she’d react. Would she run, would she reject his words or brush them off...would she do what he secretly hoped she would and square up to his bravado.

Of course, she met him. Atta girl.

Her wicked grin and her teasing words caused a low, pleased growl to rumble from his chest and he was on his feet, prowling toward her. ”You sure ‘bout that?” he challenged, his metallic eyes glinting above his smirk. His teeth struck out to nip at her cheek before smoothing it with his nose, his voice gruff in her ear, “b’cause once there’s no thinkin’, there’s no stoppin’.” His voice was a warning, but inside it felt more like a plea.

She felt his growl as though it rippled through the air, and sank into her skin, melted into her bones. The world was on fire, her, him, the ground, the air, and it was right. As though the Gods themselves had transported them to some other realm just to weave this moment into existence.

She leaned into his approach, as though even another second spent apart might cause the world to collapse, and send whatever had just begun crashing down. Saga couldn't help but shutter out a breath as his nose connected to her cheek, and found it's way to her ear. He was giving her an out, but really it felt like a challenge, and she hated losing. Her body reacted to his movements instinctually as she nipped her way from his shoulder up to his ear. "Good." In that moment she had no use for thinking, or for stopping. "Hopefully there is less talking, too."

Well if you wanted honesty that's all you had to say

He felt her shudder beneath his touch, sending another spark of pleasure into his belly. He liked that feeling, her trembling in pleasure because of him. He liked it more than he would admit. Then she was nipping her way across his shoulder, the light pain that came with it only adding to the goosebumps that were littering his skin beneath his thick pelt. The man’s breath hitched in his throat, a fire growing in his chest that demanded he take her, right then and there, make sure she knew she was his, at least for that moment. Hudson selfishly wanted to mark her, make sure every other male within 100 miles knew to stay away and not even glance her way. They didn’t deserve her, the way her bright mind worked, the way the moonlight made her glow like an otherworldly being, the way her smirks could drive a man crazy and her smiles took their breath away. Hell, he didn’t even think he deserved it. But he would.

When her words tickled his ear, breaking away the last bit of resolve he had, he was all in. There would be nothing gentle in the way they intertwined themselves, like an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. It would be all flashing teeth and possessive growls as both tried to gain the upper hand over the other, a roaring fire burning bright between them eating away at anything that tried to get between. And between them, it was perfect.
