Adonya and Sovvie

They had been growing fast, and with all of the changes that came with it, Adonya had been sticking closest to her twin. Even Enera she avoided for the most part, and Woya as well as she tended to her actual children… she spent as much time as she could in the trees, practicing her pounces and play fighting with her sister in order to hone her skills to use on the younger kids. Watching them squirm brought her an immense amount of joy, regardless of how it seemed to irritate the adults in turn.

She didn’t understand what the big deal was. It wasn’t like she had hurt them! There were plenty of scary things in the world; she was teaching them survival skills, or at least that was how she would paint it when she was scolded for her behavior. It only made the discontentment with the rest of the pack grow within her. She sought freedom from the worldly burdens that the pack brought her… that particular day, she was in the woods practicing her hunting crouch, making attempts at rabbit warrens as the cool air of a crisp fall was starting to befall and summer began to fade to a close.

Sovanya had felt different from the beginning just as her sister did, and recently their foster mother's stories had finally begun to sink in. They had come from elsewhere, and so had @Enera. While Woya had never used the word and insisted that they were just the same as the littler siblings, they weren't; they were outsiders. The schism between us and them was widening each and every day.

For Sova, this included their older sister. It had long been clear that Adonya did not feel the same, and so the redhead was struggling with this as well. When she thought she was beginning to understand her world, new conundrums came into focus.

Where exactly did she fit?

"Ad, where you at?" she called into autumn air, seeking her twin for fun. It was always the best distraction.

Adonya knew her sister felt different about Enera, but it was hard to see her as anything else but one of them. They couldn’t possibly understand them, and they had made that quite clear over time… and so Enera had fallen to her wayside as well. Her rump was shaking lightly in the air as she prowled after her prey, chasing after it when the voice erupted the wall of silence that had formed between her and the creatures scraping about on the forest floor.

The rabbits were gone, causing a frown on her features as her nose twitched lightly, sighing before she called out. “Over here, Sov.” She announced, turning to make her way towards the voice. “I was chasing down some rabbits.” The tone of her voice and lack of prey in her maw gave away her failure before her tail wagged lightly from side to side.

At least she had the consolation prize of her sister’s company. “What are you up to?” A smirk found her features, a mischievous glint in her eyes. Her sister usually had some kind of fun plan, and Adonya was usually eager to jump right in and help her with her crazy antics, wherever they might lead them.

"Oh," Sovanya answered, nosing her way through the ferns and toward her sister's voice. Spying the slight irritation upon her twin's features, she gave an apologetic smile and said, "sorry."

She hadn't meant to spoil Adonya's hunting, but of course they also did not want for food and had many other opportunities for blood-drawing fun. Her own tail wagged back, and the smirk that formed on her siblings face caused her own toothy grin to spread.

"I'm bored. Wanna get the princessses riled up?"

Adora and @Apolline, with their loud mouths and principled natures, had easily become her least favorites among the litter.

She saw the way her twin offered an apologetic smile and the girl could not help but smile back at her twin, butting her shoulder roughly against the girl’s side to show that it was all good. They were rough with each other, but it was never in a malicious way like Adonya could be with the littler ones.

“I messed up my form a bit anyway; I wasn’t going to catch anything.” She brushed it off as if her twin had not completely ruined her entire hunt. Her grin grew more wicked at the mention of the little princesses. She loathed both of them.

They were so annoying! So prim and proper and nauseating. “Of course I do… what are we gonna do? Maybe we can push them into the creek or something.” The weather was starting to get cold and Adonya could only imagine how miserable they would be soaking wet and freezing.

As her sister answered affirmatively, Sovanya's brows pinched devilishly and her smile spread. So far, even when she had gotten caught bullying her younger siblings, their foster mother had always had one reason or another why little Anya shouldn't be blamed. The sparse few times she had been punished had been very mild, leading to a dangerous assumption that she could get away with pretty much anything.

Each day she grew bigger, Sova tested that theory more and more. The appeal of simple scares and muggings was deteriorating, and she found herself craving something worse without knowing why. Perhaps she wanted to push Woya and the others that far, maybe she truly was a sadist at heart. Whatever the reason, it was a tangled knot unlikely to ever be puzzled out.

"See how long they can hold their breath?" she added to Adonya's idea sinisterly.

They were certainly known for getting into quite amount of trouble, a devilish smirk rising on her own features as she mirrored her sister. It was her goal in life to make the little rats that had come after them as miserable as possible simply for existing and taking attention away from them as they grew. They should have been born to someone else, leaving Sovanya and herself to receive all of the attention.

And yet, it had not happened.

She hummed, considering her sister’s opinions on the matter as she giggled. “I like that idea… maybe we can hold them there with our paws until they’re crying.” She assumed there would be some kind of gurgling and bubbles for when they started to cry that would give them some indication. While she loved to torture the little pests, she had not yet reached the stage where murder was something she outright considered, though she fast approached such an idea every day.
