Out on his own for a short while, Kasai trots along a well worn game trail on the hunt for anything that might catch his eye. Whether it be deer, elk, rabbit, or even squirrel the burnt wolf was planning on eating something today without taking food from the caches of the pack.
His black fur twitches under the mornings slight chill. The moist air however promised that it would be a warmer day. One that would bug the dark wolf if he decided to stay out under the sun for too long. His yellow gaze scanned the area for prey sweeping past a bunch of wild flowers and dogwood trees. Their white flowers seemingly sparkling as the breeze touched them flipping the petals onto their backs. Then there were the willow trees, something that he was now quite used to seeing. The Kage paused admiring a black and blue butterfly the likes of which he'd never seen before. The fluttering insect would be known to humans as a Spicebush Swallowtail butterfly. It's appearance so far north was surprising to any viewer as these butterflies generally live farther south.
Perhaps that's why Kasai had never seen one. His yellow eyes stayed glued to it as it flitted around the clearing and onto the trunk of a tree. Not big enough for a meal though... He sighed then broke his stare with the beautiful creature and continued along the trail.
Eventually the trail came to the edge of a lagoon. A lagoon that has amused and given sanctuary to wolves for as long as they had lived in this land. Once at the bank of the lagoon the black wolf looked around once more. No deer were drinking from the clean waters, which meant no lunch was there for the hungry male. Instead all he saw was the russet frame of a female wolf standing ankle deep in water just staring at the surface.
At first Kasai thought she was looking at her reflection and started to greet her. But then a ripple on the surface near the woman betrayed her real motive and he kept his yap shut now watching her intently. So she's hunting? Fish it seems.. He scented the air nose twitching and realized three things. 1) that the woman he was watching was a member of his pack, 2) that she must have already caught a few fish before hand for he could smell now rotting fish nearby, and 3) that he had no clue what the fishing womans name was. Obviously someone from the pack I haven't met yet. He watching as the ripples slowly began to edge their way closer to the female.
Will she get it? His thoughts echoed as the dark wolf watched in anticipation.
