It had been some time since Rayne had seen anyone of the new pack, least of all Silver, for how busy he had been trying to prove himself as a good guardian for the pack and the fact there had been an unusual amount of foxes roaming around. There was a surety that they were being drawn by the abundance of food that had come back to Relic Lore, even braving the caches that had been so carefully restocked. So of course, they had to be watched carefully.
He felt guilty of course, for not spending that much time with the one he adored so much but that is why he was fixing that problem right now. His howl tampered out to silence as he called for the black beauty, hoping she could come and meet him as his feet shuffled and the rabbit was nudged with his nose as he waited nervously. There was a desperate need for an apology and a hope that Silver had grown tired of waiting for him. He had no idea what would happen if she merely wanted to go back to being just friends, nothing more. It would break the large rusty male’s heart for sure but he would respect whatever the other chose.
But the thought Silver wouldn’t come, or if she did, she would tell him she no longer held the same emotions that brought them to this pack stuck with him and clung heavily to his heart.
"No," he quietly told himself, trying to calm his rapidly beating heart. "Nothing is wrong. You just have to explain yourself. She’ll understand, certainly..." She had to, Silver was understanding and fair. She’d understand he had simply been doing his duty to the pack.
So Rayne continued to wait, sitting under the warm sun in the meadow that was abundant with flowers and grasses that seemed to whisper in the wind and the rabbit that would be a gift to his beloved at his feet.
