RE: So many foxes!
Foxes.

There were so many foxes!

Of course, Marianna wasn't actually aware that they were called foxes, only that they weren't wolves like herself or the rest of her family.  If they were wolves, they were the smallest, reddest canines she'd ever seen, darting in and out of the territory as if they'd lacked a sense of smell all together.  The border was marked so clearly, the scent was so pungent and thick, it formed a virtual wall of clouds and warnings to anyone foolish enough to try their luck with the pack of Round Stone Crest.

But this did not deter the youngest Lagina princess, oh no.  Spying the little fiery creatures darting hither and fro only captured her imagination, and as soon as the opportunity presented itself, she began to dog after one.  She had no intention other than following the creature – perhaps greeting it, if it ever slowed down.  The vixen moved so quickly that the pup was hard pressed to keep up, her clumsy feet occasionally committing mutiny and catching on an upturned stuck or a particularly large rock jutting out of the earth.

Finally, her paws betrayed her altogether, and the child went sprawling into the forest floor, whining as her jaw took the majority of her impact.  Stars spun around her head for several second – once she opened her eyes, the fox was gone.  "Wait!" the puppy cried unhappily, struggling to get her limbs back underneath her.  Glancing around frantically, she realized her new friend was nowhere to be seen.  Tail drooping, she pushed her nose to the air, but despite frantic wiggling, could not detect the animal's scent. "Wait…" she called again helplessly, vocabulary not expansive enough to express anything else.
