she says beauty is pain

Oceanic eyes clasped shut, as emotions of uncertainty, happiness, and budding adoration crashed against her internal walls allowing the smallest crack to break through to shine the brightest of light inside. Love wasn't for the faint of heart. It wasn't a simple thing that was easily explained to a dull mind. Love had twists and turns, valleys and mountains, leaves you in agony but will make you feel high on happiness. It teaches you about the deepest parts of your soul, secrets you never thought you could discover. Love can make you strong, but it can also leave you weak and broken. Adelayde knew broken love. She knewlost love that broke her very heart into minuscule pieces that know matter how hard she tried to put it back together, she was only left with bloodied paws. With the only two beings she truly felt love for left murdered, it felt impossible to her to find the strength to once again risk everything. To have her heart shattered again, was it worth it? Was he worth it? As he tightened his embrace, burrowing into her nape, she was hesitant unsure of the answer. Instead, she breathed deeper, letting those worries drift away momentarily.

As her word vomit ended, her ears steadied to catch any response he could say to possibly put her mind at ease or help her figure out what might of happened. Frowning as he admitted he didn't know either, she was glad that it wasn't just her who couldn't figure out what went wrong. Adelayde was no mind reader and she sure hoped Reyes didn't expect her to be. She normally was proficient in assessing another's mood and what could be going through their head, but that? What was that?

Nodding, she should really talk to one of them. Askan could tell her what was wrong, but would that leave Reyes and her on unsteady terms still? She didn't really care much for the guy, but Askan sure liked him as he was hanging out with him so much that she was sure she probably couldn't tell the two apart by scent. Nodding again agreeing with Laike, "Yeah, I should just talk to one of them." Moving towards him then, she turned to sit side by side next to him. Resting her head against his neck, she sighed loudly then. Letting all her worries disappear in that moment, she wanted to relax and have a simple day with the pale agouti man.

Lifting her gaze up to him then, a mischievous smile playing across her ebony lips as she rose to her feet and drew away from him. Acting as if she was simply walking away from him, she then turned on a dime and fell into a play bow as she released a playful bark. Banner waving above her back, she invited him to challenge her.

Laike Artemieva
He hadn't said anything stupid by chance. In fact, the tall girl agreed with him and he couldn't have felt more relief. "You're good with words. It'll be fine." A small smile threatened to tug at his features. She had been good enough with words to keep him coming back, to practically have him dying to know more. Laike had faith in her ability to talk an issue out.

The large male welcomed her by his side. Adelayde's head against his neck brought nothing but good feelings. Laike carefully leaned into her as his fiery eyes looked out into the world. Old enough to know that life was hectic but not old enough to know how to handle it all. It seemed that maybe the woman next to him was the same way, or at least understood what he was internally thinking and feeling.

Had she asked him too he would have sat there leaning into her all night but a smile he had been graced with before took over the Rye wolf's features. He kept his face neutral as his tail beat against the ground underneath him. It was a giveaway of how he was feeling. Her play bow was unexpected, to say the least. The stocky male rose to his paws and mimicked her. He had never been one to play but he'd be willing to try. With her bark, he made a bold move. A deep woof rumbled within his chest before he ran past her. His tail waved above him like a flag for her to follow. He wasn't going fast enough to escape her because in all honesty he didn't wish to escape her. Not now and not in the foreseeable future.

@Adelayde you can prob fade out with your next post or we can fade here <3

she says beauty is pain

The young female was confused, uncertain as to where she stood with both @Askan and his dark friend, @Reyes. No matter how much she tried to figure out the situation, she was left stumped and upset. But as harmonious as she thought she was, deep down she was jealous. A feeling she never dreamed of having towards another or thought she had the capacity of even feeling at all, but it was the truth even if she didn't want to admit it to herself or Laike.

Where had Reyes come from? How did he, of all wolves, all of a sudden get to be Askan's best friend when she had been right there all along? Never did Askan call her his best friend or even a friend for that matter, but she knew they had each other's backs. He would fight for her and she would do the same for him. They had the same goals, to make Wild Rye Fields a family, to make the fields stronger and to never give up on Drestig or Jessie. She always gave her everything to the Rye. She sought to make Askan proud for finding her back at Turtleback Lake those many months ago and inviting her to join the Rye. Though, she didn't realize she wanted his approval as much as she did at that moment. But to feel replaced by this Reyes hurt her more than she imagined.

But what was he possibly replacing?

Was he replacing the spot that she wish she was, next to Askan? To be Askan's equal? She was already that as second under Jessie, but did Askan acknowledge that? She wasn't someone he confided in or strolled around the territory with anymore. Adelayde didn't want to feel loved by Askan romantically in that sense. He was Askan after all. He couldn't love her the way she needed someone to, or so she thought. All she wanted was to feel important to someone. To be needed, sought after to help them in any troubles they endured. She didn't want them to suffer through them alone, she wanted to help. Adelayde wanted to worth something to someone.

But as Laike pressed back against her, perhaps it wasn't going to be Askan who would make her feel worth anything. Maybe Laike was the one she was searching for. Was she going to be worth something to him? Could she be possibly become important to the pale agouti man? As she chased after him, laughter spilling out of her throat and her heart thudding loud against her tawny chest, she prayed she would be.
