Don't get him wrong, though. Athena and Ava had convincing points as well, but it wasn't new. Ava had told him that the pack was tight-knit, like family, and they spurred off of love for one another but Inkheart didn't want to join a pack like that if he would need to earn their love. Inkheart wanted to earn things by his own terms. Even with his thinking he had traveled to lord knows where without realizing his light-footed journey. The squish of muck beneath his paws was enough to trigger his irritable senses but he wasn't afraid of a little mess.
The place looked miserable and barely touched by wolves, it was unclaimed and tracks seemed few and far between. Pine trees within didn't provide much of a path for the loner but he could manage. It was a welcome obstacle to the wanderer.
