Adonis Aquila
Adonis got tangled in a winding plant.

i'll wrap my hands around your neck so tight with...
Adonis Aquila
The moonlight grew thinner with each step, until almost complete darkness swamped his vision and made just walking at a slow pace difficult. Perhaps tackling the dark woods at night... in the rain had not been the smartest idea, but hopefully it would provide him a safe place to rest of the night - who else would be stupid enough to be wandering around this freaky looking place?

After spending the day trying to figure out just where in hell he was, he was exhausted. Lack of nourishment was really starting to take it's toll, his once thick, well fed body, was lacking muscle and on occasion a rib might poke through the silky strands of his dark fur. His legs looked boney and his fur which was usually well kept was matted and dirty - he stunk of wet dog too.
He was used to the gnawing hunger pains, having spent most of his childhood being half starved and following his mother like a shadow, but after finding a new place to call home where his mother was the queen, he never thought for a moment he would have to experience the aches that hunger brought again. Yet here he was, the only noise around him being that of his growling stomach and his leather pads meandering across the damp forest floor whilst the heavy pitter patter of rain drowned out anything else that might be around him.

"Clever boy my ass." he muttered into the cold, damp air. His breath cascading from his leather lips in a grey cloud. He was referring of course to his mother, how she used to praise him and his clever mind, but surely if he was as smart as she made him feel he wouldn't be out here, lost, alone, freezing cold, starving hungry, tired oh and just a little bit pissed at the world. Honestly, only morons like Datura got lost - surely he wasn't that dumb? Though looking around him at what little there was to see, he felt every inch as retarded as he thought he sibling was- not quite as dumb as Belladonna, the sister who had abandoned them, but still pretty thick.

To make matters worse, without the next few steps he felt a sharp sting against his back ankle. A biting, hot sting as a tangled mass of roots and branches snagged against his fur and coiled tightly around his hind limb. Most creatures first instinct was the same - if it hurt, pull away from it. Adonis was no different and gave his leg a tug, trying to free it from the snare he had been caught within, but only caused the cluster of plant life to pull tighter and more painfully against his skin. With a cuss his mother would be most displeased with (though his newly acquired father would be praising him for), he stopped fighting against the pull and tried to go backwards instead to see just what had caught him - a task in itself with the falling rain, sheer darkness and his already poor vision. Today was just one of those days.

Arlette Dieudonné Lyall

A r l e t t e

Tell me where our time went, and if it was time well spent.
It could be said she had gotten a little over confident in the last few days because Arlette had not expected to get lost again. Here she was having no idea if she should move forward her backward. All along her chest rising and falling in eccentric rhythm, her lungs screaming for more air she couldn't get in or out quick enough. This was not the wood she wanted. The trees didn't tower and sneer at her by the red hills. There was no darkness surrounding her like a filthy blanket.

Shoulders tight, bones almost rubbing, white crown hung close to the ground, ears swept back, eyes wide, streaking from one end of miserable earth to the next. It reminded her too much of the Ghastly Woods where she had been rescued herself. To think she was stuck here because she had dared try to fill her stomach. What had she gotten in return? An even more empty belly, and a chest that hurt from the panic that creeped into her throat. Eventually it became a soft whine, but did little to make her feel better. A rain storm had come quickly upon her, and trying to take shelter without thinking she was in this forsaken place. Without the sun, with only wisps of moon light she felt like she might not find its end. What was more scary was thinking what lived in this haunted place. It was easy to picture ten foot grizzlies with chewed ears, and slobbering lips or a cougar who wanted to finish a job. So the white lady didn't dare call out to anything, or anyone. Hunched, that was how she walked, almost appearing to crawl hoping to remain insignificant. Behind the curtain, off the stage was her place.

Paws collided with the moist ground, she often double checked she wasn't about to fall, or get caught up. She was starting to wonder if she screamed if it would be a sound with no one around to hear it. The female slowly began to hum a song of her youth. Soft, and slow trying to believe there was some way out of this never ending shadow. They say if you're going through hell keep on going.

Karpos Slayer
{hope you don't mind if I pop in}
don't judge a thing
Karpos Slayer
until you know what's inside it

The brave black man, one whom had kept to the shadows, he was ready to face some new folk since his adventures with the group. The entire group of lone wolves whom were his family, except for him, was asleep, and he had snuck out in the middle of the night to adventure. He hadn’t expected to see any wolves, but he heard new words from a new wolf. "Clever ass." He said, happy that he had learned a new word, or two words more like, ones that he would go back to tell his adoptive ma and his da. They would be so proud of him for taking his education farther then he had been learning at the time, the words he was learning from the group. They had never used those words before, the man whom had said it was stuck, and it was Karp’s duty to help him out of the situation.

"Wan help?" He asked, hesitantly approaching the male whom was there, oblivious to the fact that there was a female in the area. His eyes lit up with curiosity, as they always had. After all, as leading male pup, he had standards to uphold, including being the adventurer who was always getting his nose in everything, especially trouble. Adsila was still asleep with the rest of the group, this place was no place for a lady as important as her in the night, it was dangerous for her. His tail wagged from side to side in happiness, or was it excitement, whatever it was, he was happy and excited and jolly and helpful. Or at least he was pretty sure he was, and his mind went off topic again, it always seemed too, but no one would ever be able to read a pups mind, that was for sure. If they were, god bless them.

Shade Slayer

Shade had watched his son, almost as if following him because his son thought he did things that he couldn’t do. Wandering at night was one of them. He watched as Karpos reached a man, and he stepped in as the parent he should be, he watched his son, walking up right behind him. "Karpos, you’re not supposed to be out here alone." He said scornfully, obedience when they were traveling was important. He looked up to see a young yearling in a difficult position with some vines, another female in a nearby area. His tail wanted to rise and curl up in dominance, but he knew it was not his place. He nipped his son gently on the ear, his eyes calm and his thoughts collected.

He wanted to be angry at his son, but he had been the same as a little one. He had always been too curious for his own good, and with that he had always gotten into trouble with his father too, so Shade would not be mad. As many people had told him, like father like son, he had known for a while that it ran in the Slayer line. Curious and troublemaking pups were Slayers; perhaps other families had the same. After all, what pup wasn’t curious and troublemaking? None that he knew of were not like that. His eyes looked at the male. "That’s an interesting situation you’re in there, want me to help you?" He asked the man, or the boy, or whatever.
