time to work up some suspicions~ ;) but no pressure at all! reply whenever you have time. @Lily

Her kids were up even before dawn broke as though their youthful little minds had a the sun is coming up radar that was particularly sensitive. It was honestly a joy to be surrounded through the night by her beloved man and their dark brood, although the scrum first thing in the morning was something that the lady Leader had not become accustomed to yet. By now the sun had been steady climbing for a few hours and the four terrors were taking their mid-morning nap - a perfect time for Ava to relax as well.

As gently as she could the matriarch pried herself away from her little ones, wincing as one chuffed in his sleep. No further noise from them prompted her to slip out into the territory, enjoying the sun's warmth on her back as she stretched out all the kinks in her spine. Pressing her heels into the dirt she gave the morning sky a classic salute, lifting her chin and closing her eyes as her muscles became limber once more. With a satisfied huff and one final shake the coal-pelted female sauntered away from the mouth, rounding on the den's side.

Of the rocky fixture that made their keep Ava had found one flat boulder which she likened to that she'd made use of out in Riddle Heights. It wasn't quite the same as her favorite, but for a sunning rock it did quite well. The thick canopy that shadowed the rapids broke apart just above it, making way for streams of golden warmth and the occasional summer breeze. With a determined leap the pitch black woman placed herself on the rock's flat top, the smooth surface a pleasant sensation against her leathery pads.

Lowering herself to her belly Ava crossed her dark wrists and pondered what all she ought to accomplish today. Perhaps she'd run the patrol. Or maybe replenish the cache? Surely she'd find plenty that needed to be done - but first, a little sunbathing suited her well.

Inactive IV. Yearling
Lily Aquila
Sometimes I believe in as many
Lily Aquila
as six impossible things before breakfast

She had begun her morning with plans to run a patrol of the border, but when the brown snowshoe hare darted beneath her paws like an ever elusive jackalope, her mission was forgotten as she playfully darted after it, lifting her paws far too high for this to be considered a proper chase. Weaving between the trees with a giggle on her lips, she skidded to a halt as the speedy beast shot beneath the ground. Her nose dropped as she sniffed back and forth at the criss-crossing paths that laced the warren. It could be anywhere now and she wouldn’t waste her energy this morning, but she marked the place in her memory for the next time she felt like a midnight snack.

Satisfied with her exploration for the morning, she returned to the borders for another quick pass but quickly lost interest before turning her body back towards the den. Perhaps the pups would be awake to play, or maybe Ava or Kade would have something specific they wanted her to do? Maybe she could spend more time with Maksim or one of the other two women she was yet to properly meet? Her attention span was limited by her age and each new prospect seemed more exciting than the last, it was a vicious circle that was leaving the girl all wound up with energy to burn.

It wouldn’t do to go near the pups in such a state and so she began to dig at the base of a tree, sending dirt flying in all directions, coating her chest and neck with damp earth as she widened the hole and forced her head and shoulders in until she was pleased with the size. It was cool in there and would make a perfect cache for all the rabbits she would catch, she decided with a smile. It would have been a sight to behold, white rear pointed to the sky while her tail lashed about proudly from side to side, but even that could not compare to the dirt and mud smeared mess that emerged from the freshly dug hole.

A casual shake was not enough to dislodge the dirt and mud that now smeared her visage, but it bothered her naught. Happy to have achieved something (and burned off some energy in the process) she continued towards the den quietly, mindful that the children may yet be napping. As she rounded the den and spotted Ava perched atop a boulder her ears tipped back and her tail waved at her back respectfully. She dipped her head as she approached the bottom of the rock and planted her behind comfortably beside her leaders perch. “I made a cache!” she declared proudly, if quietly so as not to wake the children.

blergh sorry about this one .___.

The yearling's scent wafted in just moments before she rounded the corner into eye sight. Ava cracked open her eyes, which had somehow fallen closed without her knowledge, knowing she would easily spot the youth when she walked in. Her stark white coat wasn't uncommon of wolves in the Lore, but it was certainly an outlier in Darkwater Rapids. Funny, how that had worked out. She sometimes wondered if everyone though they were building a cult of dark-furred wolves, what with Isadora's addition, but then Ava recalled that Maksim, Sibyl and Destin were all of mottled hues - just none as bright and pale as Lily.

It wasn't until the young girl was situated beside the boulder, boasting her day's work (I made a cache!) before Ava actually saw the smattering of mud that Lily wore as a bib. Oh, oh my. She very nearly said I can see that, though she caught herself before the sarcasm could ooze out her mouth. Ava didn't want her to take it the wrong way. She had so much spirit and it was really refreshing - even kind of great. Enthusiasm was often contagious and she had no mind to dampen Lily's.

"Did you?" Ava responded smoothly, as though the evidence weren't written all over the youth's pale coat - though her widening grin suggested otherwise. "That is great though, and thank you. With our family growing," both in number and individual size, she noted inwardly, "we'll need as much food as we can get and your cache will come quite handy." Slowly, as though she could hear her bones creaking with the effort, Ava lifted her belly from the sun-soaked rock's surface. Shaking the laziness from her bones the dark she-wolf stepped from her perch, taking the fall with little heed for the pain that shot up her four as she carelessly landed.

"It's hot; care to join me at the pool?" She suggested, not entirely untrue. The rock did warm up quickly and she liked it initially, but too much sun in her dark coat and Ava was ready to dig herself into a hole into the ground to escape it. Plus, y'know, there was an awful lot of mud coating the yearling. Assuming she would follow the night-cloaked female turned and headed toward the run-off from the rapids, already anticipating the gentle greeting of cool water on her back and getting excited. Glancing over she probed, "Was digging a hobby of yours when you were growing up?"
