Karpos Slayer
until you know what's inside

Karpos found himself playing again, this time though, in sight of the den instead of sneaking off into the woods when Ana or Shade weren’t looking at him. He had this log, it was a very special log that he would walk across, and he never fell, he was always alert as to how his foot landed, but there was a first time for everything. His eyes stayed calm, watching his feet, but the log was a bit slippery near the end, and he fell, losing his footing and falling into the shallow puddle that happened to be below his placement. He let out a small wail, he had a few bruises from the fall, though it wasn’t quite a large fall, but it hurt really bad.

He would recover, is was one of the things he always told himself, after his mother left and he had no idea why, he was determined to recover, and then his da, Shade, brought Ana who ended up growing to be his mother. It all had worked out, and so Karpos had taken it on as a personal motto, the little boy had grown, and was now just over two months, his words starting to make more sense. He had just doubled his weight over since he was born, and he found his head to become bigger, all changes that he himself did not notice, but the adults around him did. He focused back onto his bruises, the log had a bit of a silly little stick sticking out of it, cutting him, but not very deep. The look of a small amount of blood made him woozy.

Lachesis "XIX" Stark
*grabbie hands* GIMME TEH PUPPY

After returning to the Trail after his two-day disappearance the long-legged yearling was trying to keep himself busy with pack duties. He wanted to show to not only Shade, but his pack mates as well, that he was not useless. Patrolling the borders was Lachesis’ favourite duty (along with watching the puppies) although it tended to be rather dull if there were no strangers lingering by the invisible line that marked their territory. They had to make it clear that they had claimed the land within the Fen, especially to the wolves who came from the West. Considering the yearling didn’t like dealing with confrontation, XIX preferred watching the siblings to give Ana a break.
Once the boy finished his rounds, Lachesis returned back to the den to check on his blue-eyed leader and the puppies. It was the small wail that caused the yearling’s pace to quicken, his bright, pear eyes widening as worry fueled his movement. Once the dark ball of fluff came into sight, XIX breathed a sigh of relief once he realized that Karpos wasn’t hurt as badly as he had thought. A frown creased his lips as he stepped forward, cherry tongue pressing a quick lick to the child’s forward before he inspected Karp’s wounds. <b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:11px; color:#A3A866;">“You p-pickin’ a fight with the log?” A lop-sided smile replaced the frown as he sat down next to the boy so he could clean the fresh wound that blemished his dark coat.

Karpos dared look up to find that Lachesis had been the first to find him, his uncle was a younger one, a good friend of Ana so he was like an uncle to the little pup. He called them all uncle and aunt, it was quite a sight to most, but they were not all technically related to him, only Shade, and in some ways Ana. "Unkell Lachesies!" He said, pure joy in his voice, he liked Lach, despite perhaps being a bit scary at first, but all wolves were scary at first he had found. "Yupperz, theh log won!" He said, almost jokingly, but not really, that slippery patch cost him defeat. He was just glad he had someone to talk to.

He shook out his fur which was wet from the small puddle, shaking it out, hoping to get Lach wet so it could turn into some splashing game. His uncle always seemed to have a bit of a hesitant voice, a bit of a stutter at times, but Karpos loved it. It reminded him that some strong wolves were not the best with words or confrontation, or so his da had told him. He was curious of them all; he had little interaction with Ace, Lach and Ill. Though he had played with Pella many times, and he was always with his ma or his da so he knew them plenty well. Now was a chance to get to know one of his uncles, well, one of his packmates... That was only if his da had found out he was calling them uncle or aunt [in Pella’s case] and told him to stop.

Lachesis "XIX" Stark
His smile widened considerably as the young wolf spoke, the infamous puppy accent slurring his words as he spoke. Pressing a final lick to the youth’s now-clean cut, the alabaster yearling frowned suddenly at the pup’s comment. The log won? Glancing over to the victorious log XIX extended a forepaw and pushed it over, causing the protruding stick to roll out of sight. “Next t-time we’re gonna have to sh-show it who’s boss,” the yearling commented with a firm nod as he returned his attention back to Karpos. As an unofficial uncle of the pup and his sister, Lachesis worried frequently about the well-being of the two. He knew Ana was doing an exceptional job at taking care of the two children, but he couldn’t help what was going on inside their minds. How would they react when they were older and found out their mother had abandoned them?
A sudden splash of water caused the ghost to be thrown back into reality, a crooked grin falling onto his dark lips as his gaze settled on the dark pup. With a casual roll of his shoulder, XIX slapped his paw against the shallow puddle beside them to send a spray in Karpos’ direction. While playing with Capella was always welcomed, as they were close in age, the yearling always enjoyed switching it up and entertaining Shade’s offspring. Due to the boy being stolen away for the first three months of his life, the boy jumped at a chance to act like a puppy once more. His mind was slightly behind other wolves his age, but during moments like this XIX saw his underdevelopment as a strength.

As Lachesis splashed back at him, he let out a small playful growl, batting his aw in Lach’s direction with water to splash him back. He then playfully batted at his ear, grinning that his friend, his unofficial uncle, was more ready to play than some of the other packmates. His tail wagged with a ferocious level of wag and speed. He liked it all, the setup, having Lach here. He loved having Ana as his mother, and then his da as his father. Adsila was perfect as a sister, his little partner in crime for all their mischievous adventures.

From where he was, Karpos could see the rounding of the Riddled Heights foothills and he wondered. "Unkell Lach, when I’m older, will you take me to see theh mountaiehns?" He asked, knowing very well his father would never let him go now. His eyes filled with a curious pup gaze, puppy blue eyes always had what seemed to be an innocent look to them. Though most were not fooled by his looks, and most saw straight through them to the devious and planning pup that he was. I’d like to see the stars and hold them in my paws someday. He thought to himself.

He often found himself thinking about things that were unimportant to most, things that might be considered silly. "Unkell, can you hold stars from thar? Can you touceh them?" The questions started to flood his mind about what was up there. Surely on mountains so high they could touch the stars, get stardust to bless them. He often had dreams about brutes and fae’s in the stars and he was starting to believe that every star was a wolf who had died.

Lachesis "XIX" Stark
After the dark ball of fluff batted playfully at his hear, the boy pressed another (incredibly messy and slobbery) lick to the middle of his forehead, a goofy grin stretched across his maw. XIX hoped that Karpos would always retain his innocence, but he knew the world was not that kind; however, Uncle Lachesis would do whatever was necessary to ensure that no harm would come to Shade’s son. He loved and cared for the pup as if they were blood, and although he was nothing more than a scrape of bones, he would fiercely protect the youngster no matter the situation. Even if he knew the child was wrong, he would defend him to the end.
“I promise, Karp,” the yearling responded while bumping the pup’s dark nose with his own, words paired with a short nod. “When y-you’re older w-we’ll go on lots of adventures. And I’ll t-teach you how to c-catch fish, too!” XIX knew it was going to be awhile before they could go on adventures or fishing trips, as Karpos and his sister were still too young to venture too far from their den. Until then, Lachesis was content with entertaining Karpos and his sister around the den site and making promises he intended to keep.
The next question to fall from the pup’s tiny maw had taken the yearling off-guard, but his smile did not waver. “I think, if w-we climbed to the v-very top, we can t-touch them.” Although XIX knew it was impossible to hold the stars within his paws, he did not want to disappoint the fragile pup before him. It Karp wanted to believe catching stars was possible, than Lach would only encourage the youngster.

<3 Not a dream crusher [Here I go with another table :/ just trying it out <3]

Karpos grinned, knowing it was possible was all that it took in his mind, to make him want to travel up the mountains and grab the stars. "I would love stars. I would stay there foreva, touch them and holdeh them." He told his uncle with a giant smile, knowing that his uncle was awesome and that they would go all over the place, to different regions and learn a whole lot of new things. That was the kind of uncle that Karpos loved to hang out with, so much more exciting than Uncle Ill or Uncle Ace ever did. Uncle Ace just watched the borders, though the puppy admired him for being so strong. He knew little of Uncle Ill, other than that he was in the pack and he was a darker colored man.

Karp’s tail wagged, though it was surprising that the little boy had the energy at the lateness of the night. "At least as long as thar are no meanie head logs to tricks me!" He said, a fierce ambition to go out and see the world. "Unkell Lachseis, where did me real ma go?" He asked, he had wondered where the mother than he had known had gone, and why a new one was needed, though he did love Ana like his real ma. He wanted to know where she was and why she wasn’t with him and Adsi and his da and everyone else. The question, it made him feel like he had done something wrong.

i like it! :o I CAN'T STOP WIT DA TABLES UGH XD
Although he would never admit it aloud the yearling was, to some extent, envious of the dark pup’s innocence. XIX loved the ball of fluff unconditionally and would always keep him safe, but what Karpos was experiencing right now had been stolen from the gangly ghost. He had been monitored by the two-legs for the first three months of his life, stuck in a cage with his siblings, unable to develop at a normal rate. Karpos would grow to be perfect, whereas XIX would still be struggling to figure out who he was and how to act around others. “If you’re lucky, I m-might even let you keep one!” The boy chirped in response to the pup’s comment, his thoughts being temporarily thrown aside. It wasn’t Karpos’ fault that Nineteen’s puphood had been stolen from him; while he was with his beloved ‘nephew’, the ghost would not allow his memories to haunt him.
“D-don’t worry, Karpie, I’ll b-beat up all the mean logs for you.” Spending time with the small boy was relaxing, and allowed XIX to shove his anxiety into the darkest corners of his mind. However, the next question that fell from the dark boy’s maw had taken the yearling by surprise, his pear eyes widening slightly as he desperately tried to think of something to say. What was there to say? Lachesis did not know much behind the disappearance of Shade’s mate, as it had been before he and Anastasia went to seek acceptance within the pack. It was because of her absence that left Shade desperate enough to ask a stranger to tend to his children, and XIX did not want to pry any further – it was not his business. “I’m n-not sure, Karp. I know she l-loved you very much, and she w-would not have left if she did not have a g-good reason.” It was the only answer he could give the ball of fluff – well, the only positive answer.

i'm gonna pick up the pieces, and build a lego house...

Sorry this took forever <3

Karpos grinned with all his might, knowing his uncle Lachesis was there to protect him from the mean and scary logs, he asked, making sure it wasn't a dream or some weird scenario. "R-Really?" He asked, almost shocked, it seemed like Lachesis was the kindest soul who wouldn't hurt a fly, or maybe that was just because he would do anything for his packmates, especially the pups. His eyes sparkled with wonder a he looked at Lachesis. "Canh youeh teach meh to hunt?" He asked, he was completely ready to learn from an older pack member. His GRAMMATOLOGY could use work too, though it was more like wolf communications he could use help with. His sister had been lucky, he had been born with the natural talent with a knack for hunting.

He however, was born with the opposite, no matter how hard the 2 month pup tried, he kept failing at hunting. He liked play fighting, he always seemed to win and his da had told him that he was a natural guardian, and that he would be a good one when he was older. It made him proud when his adoptive ma or his real da praised him, it upped his self esteem ten times fold. He couldn't help but wonder about what a Guardian was, his da had told him his uncle Ace was a guardian, but what did they do? "Whats do Guar-dians do?" He asked, trying his hardest and taking it slow to pronounce the word he had never said out loud before. The night was dark and full of terrors, but he would make it through because he had his uncle with him to show him the way.

Lachesis "XIX" Stark
<b style="font-family:Georgia; font-size:12px;"> is okay!
“Really,” the lanky yearling repeated with a gentle smile curling the corners of his lips, pear gaze focused on the fluff of inky fur before him. Although the pup did not share his blood, or Ana’s, XIX still cared for him as if he was his own. The ghost would do whatever necessary to keep Karpos safe – always. Karp and his sister were the only family that the espresso-coloured Alpha had left after his ex-mate had up and left, and Lachesis was determined to protect his children. Even though he was a nervous wreck – and would probably always be one – the yearling would put on a brave face if it meant having to chase off any potential threats. “Of c-course, Karp,” he agreed as the youth spoke once more, his small voice pulling XIX away from his thoughts. “You’ll b-be the best h-hunter yet,” he chirped with a quick wag of his tail, a smile still pressed neatly across his lips.
‘Whats do Guar-dians do?’ He was puzzled as to what was running through Karp’s mind to make him ask that, but the alabaster yearling did not question the pup. There was no point – the child’s mind was an unsolvable puzzle, constantly creating and abandoning thoughts within seconds. “Guardians,” he started, brows narrowed slightly as he tried to remember what Anastasia had told him about that specific role, “keep the p-pack safe. They m-mark the borders and make s-sure that everyone is p-protected.” It had been a role that XIX had been interested in, but he was much to0 frail (and pathetic) for such a role. The yearling knew he was going to have to stick to something that he was actually good at, like fishing and healing.
