A distant storm rumbled overhead, to which Ava found herself giving a silent thanks. Thunder and lightning would keep her four well within the walls of the den and would mean an easy day of play for her and whoever came to visit, and the rain would cool down their neck of the woods. The thick canopy's shadows and the spray of the rapids certainly helped, but every once in a while the black-furred she-wolf felt as though the heat became trapped underneath the blankets of leaves above. In those instances, even her sleek summer coat could not spare her and she found herself wondering how nice it would be if she could don a coat of ivories in the summer.
Primed for the tour Ava set off, her dark limbs pushing her with decent speed as she began the path laid by their borders. Everywhere there was a weakness she stopped to lift her leg proudly, having grown well into the role of a Queen. Unlike Grizzly Hollow this was not borrowed territory - what hideaway they'd stolen in Secret Falls belonged to them most definitely. A grin grew on her maw at the thought. She was finding the responsibility liberating, much like her Poisoned days, only this time she never had to second guess her opinion for it was her charge that made the way.
Again the sky shook; she could see it greying through the gaps in the canopy. Unpertubed the coal-cloaked woman continued, pausing to sniff the bark among the trees and check that there was no regrowth of cowsbane on the riverbanks. If a little rain began to fall while she was out on patrol, so be it. Ava had far too much good in life to be bothered by getting wet.
