RE: The rivers are running low, smaller streams are drying up.
Private for @Zaru

With the scuffle with her sister behind her, she could now see the lake becoming hers again. The two Moon sisters talked things out and Roma agreed to assist her in creating her pack. With the numbers set, she should be making her to the lake and claiming her piece of land again, but Athena was unsettled. She needed more males. With only Vesper at her side, she wasn’t comfortable yet. Indeed, she had strong capable women below her, but she just wasn’t set yet. Perhaps if she could find that one wolf that could complete them, then she would be willing to stake claim. With winter coming, she needed able bodied males and females to help them survive. So that was why she went out of the Whisper Cavern territory and moved her way towards the north where she would hopefully run into a hopeful male loner searching for a home.

Her feet took her to the burnt forest, The Wildwood, where green was starting to take over despite the forest’s terrible past. She leisurely walked to nowhere in particular until she came upon a small brook that passed through the trees. She could see the damp banks, but the water was unusually low and the brook was significantly smaller than is should be. Was something bigger going on that Athena couldn’t see? Were the Falls drying up, so the creeks that flowed down the mountain were too? All the answers were a mystery to her, but she still took her chance and quenched her thirst with what water was left in the small creek.

Like a ghost emerging from the mists for the very first time, Zaru made his appearance. Slowly, out of the darkened tangle of lifeless trees and sparse shrubs, the lone prince came forth. His stride was unhurried, calculated and precise. Head lifted high atop his broad shoulders, he carried himself with an unmistakable air of confidence. These lands might be completely foreign to him, as were it's residents, but that didn't matter to him. He was here to take advantage of his freedom. To be recognized, and maybe even be revered. As far as he was concerned, the world was in his paw.

His visit here seemed off to a rather dull start. The once thriving Wildwood, in which he now meandered, seemed empty and lifeless. The air was still, and unusually quiet. Something that would have surely unnerved a more flighty sort of wolf. But not him. Instead he looked around with an almost disinterested gleam in his cold eyes. He chalked it up as simple as being that this area was one of the less favorable places for many an animal to inhabit. Moving on, the weeks of travel soon began to nag at his tired muscles. His throat grew itchy and dry, and the idea of a drink was sounding appealing. Then, as if some wish had been silently answered, the faint trickle of water reached his ears. Huffing softly, he followed the sound until he came across the tiny brook. Much to his disappointment, the water was only a trickle. Both puzzled and irritated, he pawed at the damp earth in a futile attempt to coax more water forth. After this didn't work, he sighed and grudgingly took a few short, satisfying licks. He was some ways downstream from the white female, whose presence he hadn't bothered to notice yet.

She couldn’t believe how little water was here. She knew where this little creek ran off from and was confused by why it was so low. The Bramble Falls always seemed to be supplied with water from the mountain, so perhaps it was the mountain. Or was it just this spot? Was it too high for the water to easily move over the hill? So was the rest of the creek low like this too? So Athena decided to go check it out herself. She began to make her way downstream, towards another male that she was unaware of. As she rounded a curve and she broke away from the tree, that’s when she saw him.

His large imposing figure, didn’t scare her off like it would for others her size. She could manage on her own and it was perhaps her confidence that would be her downfall, but she wasn’t worried. Her eye studied him for a while in silence before she finally announced her arrival with a short bark in his direction. She didn’t want to come upon the man and take him off guard. Sometimes it was best to let others know you were coming. She approached him regally, her stature confident, but relaxed as this was neutral ground. However, she still held obvious confidence and grace in her walk. ”Crazy that it all just disappears like that,” she stated, starting off their conversation. She didn’t know where it went, just that when it rained, shortly the puddles disappeared once it got warmer. It wasn’t that interesting to her, so she didn’t look into it, but perhaps this might be something to look into.
