Eirian Asurn
Broken Timber Pines, an eagle is spying on your den! Anyone in the pack is welcome to try and help Eirian. Situated outside the pack den, Mist 14 ° F, -10 ° C

For three days now citrus optics had noticed a most unwelcome silhouette nestled in the same spot each morning within the shadows of a sturdy cedar, the sparse canopy of the looming branches lending little aid to disguise the distinctive outline of a Golden Eagle. What left the recently promoted leader further at unease was just exactly where in the treetop the soil hued bird of prey situated its rendezvous point. Of course the pups of the pack had long outgrown the immediate danger of being picked off by a large feathered predator, but that didn't stop some braver birds from attempting to pick off small adults on occasion. It was this known factor that Eirian determined this bird perched directly in prime location for an unobstructed view of the den had to go. But how?

Muscled limbs circled the base of the elderly cedar serving as the eagle's temporary nest, hardened gaze trained skyward toward the general height level he knew the damned thing to be roosting. Catching a glimpse of the massive raptor a low growl rumbled the confines of the Asurn male's chest before front paws sought the ragged bark of the towering timber. "Shoo you damn thing! Go! Be gone!" A series of crude barks pass over his ebony lips shortly after in hopes of provoking the creature to buzz off, but his efforts were fruitless. All he earned was a small ruffling of feathers, a pair of calculating beady black eyes staring down at him and a near miss of having bird scat land upon the top of his muzzle. Clearly this eagle wasn't gonna leave cause one big bad wolf was barking up a storm.

Zia Celencio
Zia was in no mood to socialize. She hadn't been for quite some time. The only wolves who were exceptions were her son, who she had a feeling was upset with her, and possibly Iopah. Put bluntly, she was downright sour these days. While not completely over her loss/abandonment, the fact that Koda had now also vanished, only fueled the icy fire burning in her heart. Her ears pinned back, lips curling in a silent sneer. She really was starting to detest adult males.

Despite her un-willingness to mingle, as she stalked through the heart of her home, head level with her spine to advertise her mood, a ruckus from the communal den forced her to stop and pay attention. The noise came not from an intruder or some bold predator looking for a quick meal, but from one of their own. As she slid closer silently, she recognized the russet male, Eirian. Barking up a tree no less, foolishly at a golden eagle, who seemed most unimpressed with his attempts at shooing the great bird off. Locked in place for the moment, Zia's blue eyes narrowed in contemplation. She knew for a fact that the haughty male had been promoted to Alpha. But she didn't respect him for it. He played no role in the founding of this pack, and was only a fill in until when or if, Koda returned.

Without so much as a word, the silver woman silently came to the den, to stand just a few feet behind him. "That's pointless, you know." She stated bluntly, without emotion in her voice. "Just because you want it to move, doesn't mean it'll happen." Before he could get a chance to reply, with whatever it was he was thinking, Zia had slipped forward, circling the base of the tree, gazing up methodically to the branches where the raptor sat. "If we are to stand any chance at all, distracting it with bait is our best option." Eagles such as this one loved meat, be it fresh or rotten and they would not turn down the chance at a free meal. But Zia had no intention of giving handouts. At the most, perhaps a discarded rib with a few chunks of bad meat still clinging to the bone. Or better yet, one of them could try and fool the bird by heading down to the river, pretending to fish. Eagles were smart enough to follow greater predators, hopeful for any scraps they might leave behind. Maybe this one would be too, if they could outsmart it.

Eirian Asurn

It was by pure luck that Eirian caught Zia's bluntly stated words over the sound of his obnoxious barking, flashing jaws quickly ceasing to whip a russet hued skull toward the advancing silver form briefly as she spoke her piece. A small huff left his lips as citrus gaze drifted from the perched raptor to the older woman, outstretched paws pushing off the rugged bark to return back to the solid earth below. "Well since you seem to be some bird expert, how do you suggest we go about distracting it then?" Tawny brow above a single eye quirked upward curiously while watching the silvery female examine the predator of the skies, russet tail twitching near his spine to reveal his agitation over the situation.

Had the Asurn male been capable of having it his way he would have bounded right up that tree to tear it from the branch himself, but climbing was not his forte in this lifetime due to his bulkier frame and lack of knowledge on how to go about tree climbing. So it would be brains that solved this problem, much to his dismay. Thinking was not exactly Eirian's strong point either having been raised and trained in the art of using his physical strength rather than mental strength to solve issues. This would be interesting to say the least. "So..?" The dark agouti male pressed after a few minutes of silence it seemed passed between the duo. Obviously just standing here wasn't going to solve anything, but any supercilious thoughts were kept under a tightly sealed tongue.

Zia Celencio
Her lips crinkled slightly while she let out a short huff. Had he not heard her the first time? Piercing blue eyes fell away from the predatory bird, back down to the russet wolf, whose gaze she did not hesitate to meet. "One of the caches is not far from the borders. Once it sees us retrieving the leftovers from the site, it will come hoping for some scraps." She had specifically chosen that location, so close to the edge of their land, to get the bird a reasonable distance away.

With a flick of her tail, Zia turned on her heel and headed in the direction specified. She expected and knew Erian would be following. Her face masked by an icy exterior, her eyes remained focus and fixed ahead. "Of course, we are not going to waste the resources in the cache, or give that Eagle any scraps. We simply need to get it away from the den." She could only hope that after they pulled off their plan, and if it worked, that the great bird wouldn't come back. And if it didn't work at all, Zia might just have to go out of her way to finding something more...fresh.
