A wild private thread appeared for @Renier! Around the 4th-ish (Morg wants to know what a calendar is ;))

I wish you the best, I'm headed west
it's all i know to do

Where else could she possibly have been headed?

Reaching the Lagoon some time after midnight she had excavated a small divot in which to sleep, her nose buried under her tail as exhaustion had finally overtaken her. Her deep and dreamless sleep was only interrupted by the heat of the sun on her dark pelt. When combined with the flames that still coursed under her skin it was stifling, itchy, dirty. If it was even possible, it seemed to be getting worse. Dismay was evident on her face while her muzzle wrinkled with disgust. How anyone could find this stink appealing was beyond her. It was gross and unnecessary. Surely there was a less traumatic way to broadcast ones fertility?

If only she could wash it off.

Peach eyes turned on the still frozen surface of the lagoon with trepidation. Even if the sheets of solid water didn't separate her would she dare risk it now she knew just what lurked beneath the murky surface? (surely Stevetta the sturgeon remembered their last encounter just as vividly as she did). In answer to her own silent question her head shook. No way, no how. She would leave water matters to those clueless and/or specialised. Catfish, sturgeons... they were all out to get her.

At least keeping her paws on solid ground was enough to escape from fish.

I'm waking up enduring my biggest fears

He was old enough to know what time of the year it was. The chemical changes that wrecked havoc were hard to ignore, but like last year he was uncertain of the future. Why things could have happened it hadn't been the right time, but was it now? Things were different, but he wasn't about to anticipate anything. Yet, he knew when the change had happened. Despite how every part of him scolded he should seek her out, he did not. There was still a bit of stubbornness to be found in his thick skull. There still seemed a long way to go for any prominent future.

On this day, he picked up her scent yet again wandering from the Willows. A frown he followed. He couldn't help it. Why was she doing this? She hardly left, and now... He could only wonder what it was she wanted, what it was she sought.

Oddly, he spied her in a place he had least expected. The edge of the Lagoon. The rogue stood back behind her, observing from the distance between them. Still trying to make sense out of this woman who had a great piece of his heart. Without seeing much of her face he couldn't discern a thing. With a shake of his head, he padded toward her. Falling down to the side of her with a thump.

It probably wasn't the best of ideas. The aroma was a lot stronger than he had remembered,  and made his head buzz. He didn't find it necessarily pleasant. He always hated the ache it caused not only in his head but other places. He prodded her neck with his nose, his way of asking her what was the matter today.

Just when i think i've let you go
your song is playin' on the radio

For once the wind was working somewhat in Morganna's favour and she didn't need to turn to see that it was @Renier who approached. Her eyes drifted closed as he came along side, a deep sigh escaping her lips as he pressed his nose into the fur around her throat. She leaned into his flank fully anticipating that it would make him just as uncomfortable as it made her but not really caring either. He had the option to stay away, but here he was. Her soul was tired of fighting the burn and itch. They had been down this road before. Would they go there again?

She opened her eyes and gave the Lyall a sidelong look, a coy smile playing at the corners of her lips. Quite enjoying the sounds of the early morning around them, unmarred by unnecessary speech she stood up and leapt away. She lifted her dark tail to smack the pale underside of his jaw as she bounded towards the shore of the lagoon with a laugh, only slowing when she sensed a distance between them. Swinging back, she bowed playfully, teeth snapping at empty air with a cheery growl while her tail wafted that obnoxious stench around with its playful wag. Don't be so serious. her heart begged of them both. This didn't have to be a big deal. Did it?

I'm waking up enduring my biggest fears

Unable to help it he breathed in deep, searching for her real scent in the curve of her neck. She pressed closer to him, and her briefly rested his head upon her nape. He killed the urge to snuggle even closer despite wanting to see if it was possible. Bright eyes were suddenly upon him, and his head titled in question. Then he noticed the edge of her mouth, and could only guess what she was up to now.

He should have known. Just like that she slipped away. Internally he groaned for he could have stayed like that a lot longer. The shot of her tail caused his brows to furrow, in the closet thing to a pout this Lyall could manage. Golden eyes followed her to the shore where she was even further away. Women. Was it always gonna be this way? He noticed her invitation, but half of him didn't want to acknowledge it. Maybe, he wanted to be serious. It was his primarily characteristic. Why he loved their mock spars and all, he thought this might be the time to talk. With a sigh, and shake of his head his cream legs pushed from the ground. Just as a father might to round up a child he trotted closer. Obviously unconvinced to participate.

Just when i think my heartbreak settled down

With each slow step Morganna's heart constricted, tighter, tighter, until she found it hard to breathe. The waving of her tail slowed and her head and shoulders inched ever upwards, her face failing with each new hight gained until she wore a soft frown. Dark shoulders slumped as her tail rested low, the very picture of reluctance and disappointment. Not now. I don't want to explain... But didn't he deserve at least that much? It was selfish of her to keep it to herself, to think he might be clinging to something that might never be... Because of who she was.

The pain was too much to bare, she could feel her heart shattering into a million tiny pieces. If she failed in this, again then it would be clear the fault lay with her. "Yer should find someone else." her voice was flat, her eyes looking through the tawny Lyall rather than at him. "If its pups yer want..." what was this hoarseness in her voice, the stinging in her eyes and at the lump at the back of her throat. "I don' think... I can't..." she had no words to explain any further. Surely he could connect the dots?

I'm waking up enduring my biggest fears

Truly he felt his actions shouldn't influence her, that they wouldn't. He expected her to come driving at him, ready to tease with her teeth, gode him into it. To frolic as they had. Instead he could tell her posture suddenly tighten, droop as if she'd been struck. Brows drew together in concern, and a hesitant paw lifted, pulling him a little closer. He had sensed something was amiss, he now saw real evidence how bad she was holding back.

Ears perched a top his tawny head, intent on hearing every word. It didn't sound like her. If he wasn't staring straight at her he would have thought it a cruel joke. Sadness seemed to seep from her voice he had rarely heard, if she might not be able to say any more. The worst was how she wouldn't look at him straight. Teeth ground, and he felt his chest tighten. It did click in his mind, at least reasons why she might say that. He wondered if this was her trying to push him away. Scare him off or what. He would leave her, if that's what she really wanted.

Eyes cast down, and he fought with himself for a second. He really wanted to reply with a snappy retort of sarcasm how it was the number one thing he looked for in a mate. It was extremely hard not to take this in anger, as a rejection. Rather than what it really was. A confession, a want of understanding. She was trying to open up to him.

Sucking in a breath through his nose, he steadily took the steps necessarily to be in front of her.  "Because of Isolde?" He inquired in a gentle, hushed tone. Thinking such a loss did make one stop and think. Especially giving each of their family histories. But, he couldn't feel there may just be more to it. He was much too afraid to say more.

Morgs 300th post goes to the lovely Mr Ren <3

Perhaps Morganna wasn't communicating as well as she thought she was? When the question of Isolde was voiced her head canted to the side, a brow drawing down as she considered how better to voice her concerns. "No..." and yes, but no that hadn't been what she was trying to say. I don't know if I can..." this conversation had gone so much smoother with @Skoll. "I didn't last year." she let her words sink in as she took a few steps closer to @Renier, getting her emotions in check with the simple act of movement. "Even Piety managed ter have @Sven." and look at what she had done when she did.

"What if I can't?" she finally questioned, coming to a standstill in front of him. "What if I do an' @Nicolò takes offence? Attacks them when my back is turned?" She was stable in her position, but she could hardly say the same about the pack as a whole. Even if she could have pups, did she really want to bring them into such a turbulent environment? Where their survival could be threatened by the man who held the rank their father should?

I'm waking up enduring my biggest fears

Golden eyes were locked on her, trying to siphon her thoughts. His own faint silver mask befuddled. The hesitation didn't help, but he didn't pry. When she spoke again he realized his mistake. He had been overthinking it. Chin tucked, eyes resting along the ground in thought. No, she hadn't last year. Now she was seeing that as a fault?  It wasn't like it had been the best time and considering a few things...

A scowl etched his features at the mention of Piety. As if that woman was made special by the fact she'd given birth to Sven and little else. He held his tongue, knowing it was best not to interject. Finally, she admitted her true worries. He didn't know where to start for words were words. She needed more than that.

"We don't know for sure do we." Plainly, he answered, wishing she had told him this sooner. He hoped it didn't sound as sharp as the sting in his heart. But, didn't she trust him? Was it that hard to share her fears with him? Had she really thought he would walk away because of it? And this was her politely way of giving him in out. But, how could she be sure the fault wasn't with him? That she was perfectly capable of raising a family with someone else. Again he had an inkling this could be a way to push him aside. It wasn't like she had used the word we.

The idea she should fear her own uncle, this was news. Despite how Archers did deffer in affection, he wondered what particulars had brought this about.  More so should he be speaking to her as a friend or lover? Or a simple subordinate he knew not. Temper had already been poked, and he couldn't hold his own feelings back. "Damn him then! It's your choice Morganna. You are the leader of the Ridge too and have your right." He began, head a mess of thoughts.  "But, if you feel he wouldn't hesitate to hurt cubs of your blood, you, or those loyal to you sounds like he has no place in the Ridge. Uncle or not. You shouldn't live in fear like that." He spoke out loud. Nicolo didn't even have a mate, and it made little sense for him to compete with his niece. Though whoever was the father would surely be a threat to Nicolo if he liked his new title too much. Bastard.

Silently, he cursed this was how things were. If he hadn't had left maybe there wouldn't be this mess. As it was his mind rummaged for an answer to the problem now. The next in line was her brother. If Skoll was good for anything couldn't he help her? Shouldn't he be for Morganna. Surely, he wouldn't threaten her offspring. Between being Elettra's son and second he was better suited to put his Uncle in his place or send him packing. Did he not know any of this either? Or was this just the Archer way?

He huffed, now refraining from speaking any more. He was aware what he could do, but being beneath Craw,Angier, and Skoll was a shitstorm in itself.

Morganna finally closed the final distance between them, taking a seat at his side and tucking her muzzle under @Renier's chin. She lifted his head with the bridge of her nose, there, that's better. She pulled back to look him in the eye, a small sad smile forced onto her face, He looks like a leader should.. "No, I shouldn't. But that's a problem fer another day." After all, there were far more pressing matters at hand right now. Hell all of this was a problem for another day. She pushed her head back under his jaw, allowing her eyes to drift closed for just a moment, simply breathing in his scent.

Next year would be different, she promised herself, but right now she was in survival mode. She had a job to do and a limited timeframe in which to achieve it. She wanted to tell him she loved him, that everything would work out in the end but she wouldn't say those words today, and she wouldn't make a promise she couldn't keep. Her tail swept the ground behind her, trying to wave off all her worries for just a little while. If he would have her they could have this day, aNd once the sun rose again she would be gone again. She couldn't return home yet. It wasn't safe.
