RE: Kjell, you slipped and fell into a frozen creek!  For handsome @Savion

Kjell was tired.  Sure, the leader of White Fir Notch had patched him up (or something like that, he was missing an eye, after all), but he still didn’t feel whole.  Or less than hurt.  He just never felt like he could catch up, could keep up, like all his energy had fizzled out at once.  Bennet had told him she’d needed a bit of space – the man didn’t question his niece.  Maybe she needed to mourn privately, or something.  Who was he to judge?

The problem was that Veho had run him off from the Grizzly Hollow borders (and perhaps he should have seen an angry alpha coming, giving the change in Signy’s scent after their bonding), and how the hell was Bennet supposed to know where her uncle had run off to?  Would anyone even tell her, or would the gray man run her off, too?

Sighing heavily, the loner continued his slow pace, ignoring the freezing mist as he bowed his head down.  He’d get a drink and keep moving, maybe circle back, and—

All at once, Kjell’s legs went out from underneath him.  The swarthy male splashed into the strath, the shock of cold washing all over him as he let free a wordless shout.

Savion didn't know what he was waiting for. There were no time constraints in place, after all he was his own boss, but even so he knew there was no use in lingerin' around and wasting time. The sooner he got this messy buinsess over and done with the better. So why then, was he pissin' about? Procrastinating was all well and good, but he was startin' to feel like a fuckin' pussy. He'd done worse- and would probably do so again- so why didn't he just fucking do it? Honestly, he didn't know. He'd say it was the season, that his attention lingered elsewhere but it'd been a while since he'd last got laid, but frankly he'd never been the sort to lose himself. No matter how hard he tried.

He claimed he had this grand plan in motion, that the result would make his suffering would be worth it in the end. But really, it was getting harder and harder to convince himself that. Was anything ever worth it? In the end they were all just dust. And the Selwyn legacy? It was the biggest joke of all.

Coming to a stop, Savion shook his head. Naw, he'd started something big. What was the point of tearing it down and leaving remnants standin'? There was no use in leaving a job half done. The ball was already rolling so he might as well let it do its thing. Whatever will be will be.

Once the season was over, he'd act. He'd ask around and find out where- Savion's ears twitched at the sound of a nearby splash. And of course, being the nosy shit he was he had to go and gloat see what was happening. Pushing through the bare undergrowth, a creek came into view, as did a soggy wolf- who struggled to his feet as tremors wracked his-fine, muscular - body.

"Bit too cold for a dip, don't you think mista?" He asked, with an amused- if not a little amorous- gleam in his bright yellow eyes.

The water seemed to roar all around him, even if it was only a stream. It wasn’t particularly deep, but it was absolutely frigid, showing absolutely no sign of warming even as the air around them started to consider spring. The loner rolled gracelessly, forcing his feet underneath him and all but launching himself up, out, and towards, the bank before he noticed he’d attracted the company of someone else. Great.

Fresh stream water still dripped off his belly as he narrowed his eyes, ears slowly pressing back against his skull. He could practically feel the heat dribbling from his bulk towards the ground as he stared at the other male, feeling all the world like a half-drowned rat. “Bit cold, yep,” he agreed, bobbing his head once. It certainly wasn’t like he’d tried to swim in water that didn’t even come up to his undercarriage. He hadn’t been trying to take a damn bath, either. But the one-eyed male wasn’t really in the mood (nor the shape) to pick a fight with a strange, no matter what insults were thrown, so he took a step back, instead.

“Y’ just here t’ watch, stranger? ‘cos the show’s over.” He wasn’t nobody’s amusement.

Now that he was nice and close Savion got a real good look at the stranger. At first glance- from a distance anywho- he didn't look like much. Being dark and firm was all well and good, but not really enough to stand out in the crowd. The Comedian had seen better, after all- he'd fucked better too, but that was aside the point.  When he really looked though, he was able to pick out a handful of details that caught his attention. That made him think that this mystery man was a little more than the humdrum average wolf.

For one, he was a handsome lad through and through, with the air of a self proclaimed bad-boy. Now, Savion had met all sorts throughout his years. He'd met saints and sinners, pariahs and kings, but this fella here was a self-made man. His actions shaped the world and he left ripples in his wake. He- or so Savion assumed- was his kinda guy. And the fact that he was missin' an eye? That made him all the more interestin'. The Saviour was sure there was a juicy story behind that, but he held his tongue as askin' outright wasn't the way to go about getting what he wanted. Things like that took time.

The stranger didn't look at all pleased with Savion's comment and instead of asking for forgiveness or repenting, the Yukon wolf merely let out a gruff, if not earnest laugh.

"Is it? I dunno about that, I'm still enjoying what I see." Unabashed, Savion's tail swayed behind him slow, but confident. "No need to be so prickly, I'm not looking for trouble. Or at least the sorta trouble you're probably thinkin' of."

Words, words, words.

Kjors was like that, wasn’t he? Less flirtatious, probably – but always with the pretty words and lovely sounds. So harmless, a snake. A winged snake, probably, but a serpent no less. The one-eyed wolf continued to eye the newcomer carefully, sunset orb narrowed uneasily. His hair would have prickled, were it not plastered against his thick form. Maybe, if he hadn’t been shivering, he would have noticed. Or had a smart remark. So instead, he only stared at the other loner for a few more moments before he finally moved a few paces away from the older male where he stopped, aggressively shaking out his coat. It did nothing to warm him up.

“What kind of trouble you lookin’ for?” he grumbled, sparing the stranger only a brief look before glancing down at his legs. His sides. He might be able to groom himself – no. There was water everywhere. He didn’t even have anywhere to roll with all the snow; he wouldn’t get drier, only crusted in ice! Kjell gave a soft sigh, plopping his haunches down with a tired noise. His ears remained at half mast, but he finally fixed the loner with his full attention. “’ll tell you what, ‘ve had my fill lately. So if that’s whatcha want, keep movin’.”

Gods above he was a cagey one, weren't he? Savion had said he wasn't looking for trouble with him and yet that didn't seem to put him at ease at all. Not even the slightest little bit. If Savion wanted to kick his ass, he wouldn't have taken the time to oggle his ass, now would he? But naw, this guy was the cautious type and from the looks of it didn't seem to appreciate Savion's smooth way of chattin'.

"Nothin' that'll bother you. Came here to sort out some family mess, is all."

Which wasn't all that far away from the truth really. Now of course he wasn't gonna spill his beans and tell him everything, but a little couldn't hurt. Not like he said who he his family was, or what he really planned to do. He imagined if he did most wolves would get pretty judgy and temperamental. 'Nd of course he didn't wanna have to deal with that kinda hypocrisy, so he kept his mouth firmly shut and his plans locked away.

The stranger went onto add that he weren't in the mood, that he'd already got some and Savion couldn't help but let out a rumbling laugh. He was in the same boat, yet you didn't see Savion acting like an ass, now did yah?

"Had your fill huh?" Savion dropped to the floor and splayed out as well, the embodiment of comfort and confidence. "Go on then, spill the deets. What she was like? She got a pretty face?"

Go on, spill the deets.

Deets? Deets? What the fuck was a deet?

The dragon furrowed his brow at the queer stranger (growing ever stranger by the moment), ears flipping forwards and back as he could not make up his mind if this were a creature to be trusted. Was he nosy, or simply stupid? He couldn’t accuse the other loner of blindness – after all, the older male had watched him go tumbling down into the frigid stream. That much was obvious enough. Did he simply ignore the healing would where an eye should be, or did he want to hear the story straight from the serpent’s mouth?

It was a shame he wasn’t more like Kjors, really. His brother wasn’t good for much, but the elder dragon had a penchant for tall tales.

Kjell exhaled noised, narrowing the single remaining sun at the dark wolf. “Why you assume it’s about a girl, huh?” And, well, it was sort of true – his most recent troubles had a woman at heart, though it certainly wasn’t her fault he’d found himself in a world of hurt. There were a hundred things Kjell could have done differently. Talked to Signy more before…everything. Claiming responsibility before the pack alpha sought him out with his little henchman. But here he was, shaking and lonely – missing the girl as fiercely as ever. “Wasn’t her fault, for th’ record. I did this myself.”

Savion wasn't sure what sort of response the one-eyed-grumpster was going to dole out, but not for one second did he imagine that he'd flip the question around like that. And what an interesting point he made, for as tempting as women were they weren't the only sweet things about. He just didn't peg this guy as the sort who'd be willing to admit that so easily, he reckoned he'd-like a lotta guys- make a right tit of himself defending his feeble pretence of masculinity.

"Fair point." He readily admitted, ignoring the pointed one eyed stare he was receiving. He could glare all he wanted, Savion wasn't fazed. "But the thing is, it's usually women that are the source of all men's strife though. Learnt that the hard way. S'been that way since the dawn'a time and I don't see it changin' any time soon."

Whoever this dame was, the stranger clearly held some affection for her. Now, Savion weren't no mindreader or anything supernatural like that, he was just a good old fashioned people person. And this fella here was like an open book, his feelings for her were pretty damn plain to see. Maybe it weren't love, or anything as fluffy as that but he cared and apparently that was enough to instil a sense of hurt into him. Poor guy, Savion's heart almost went out to him. Almost, as he remembered that no-doubt that this was his fault. You reap what you sow. No use crying over something that was his own damn fault. Fuckin' pussy.

Savion tilted his head as a-fake, of course- sympathetic frown pulled at his lips. "Yeah? Sucks man. As long as she's all right that's all that matters, innit? Still, you ain't answered my question. Surely you got some fond memories of her, be a good lad and share."

Yeah, he definitely didn’t have Kjors’ silver tongue. That was for damn sure. He just shouldn’t have opened his big damn mouth in the first place – this guy wasn’t so different than his late brother. Except he was a little more see-through…or maybe the dragon had simply wizened up about the way of the world after his brother had tried to cut his life short.

“Don’t think so,” he groused, starting to move away from the river’s edge. This guy wasn’t going to help him. And now he wanted to know about Signy? His gem? Even if it was a trusted friend, he wouldn’t be quick to hand over such intimate information. Just who did this asshole think he was? Kjell’s ears rolled backwards and he gave a huff, shaking his coat out a second time. Or was it a third time? He was losing count. He wasn’t any warmer, or any drier, and the only thing this guy seemed to want was information. Or a good story.

Frankly, if he wasn’t going to help, he could get lost. Or, perhaps in this case, Kjell would just keep moving. He had to find a way back into the cedar wood forest, anyways – he couldn’t just leave Signy to fend for herself. “See you, stranger.”
