He had slept most of the day so that he could get up in the middle of the night to look at the stars. It had been one of his favorite pasttimes when he had been with his family. So the red male had decided that since he was part of a pack again he could stargaze again. He might even get some company for this little trip. Company that he wouldn't have to worry about going after him or trying to drag him to their pack.

Lightly shaking himself Reid walked out of the main den trying to keep his paw steps quiet on the ground. With a glance at everyone else, he departed to look for a good spot to look through the trees. Humming softly to himself he weaved a zigzagging trail here and there his eyes up to the sky. The sky was clear which was perfect for what he had in mind now he just had to find a place where the tree branches weren't so closely knit together.

It felt like it took him forever to finally find a decent spot. The trees had a brief break and there was a smallish clearing for him to sit as well. It still wasn't the best but it was much better than viewing the sky through a dozen small openings. Finding himself a comfortable spot he took a seat tail curling around his paws and gazed up at the moon and the stars. They always made him feel so small.

Lavender Stark

The girl knew the ins and outs of Hearthwood like the back of her paw. Her reluctance to leave the territory in her younger months had proved useful—now that she was bigger, older, she could slip away unnoticed whenever she pleased. She often ventured south to the lake her father inhabited often, for she found the lapping water just as soothing as the older Stark. Today, however, she had patrolled the Kingswood until the sun began to fall beyond the skyline. The sky grew dark, the last remaining rays of light slipping through the dark canopy overhead.

As she meandered through the trees a scent had captured her attention. It was the newest addition to the back, a scarlet wolf with brilliantly blue eyes. She had caught a few glimpses of him but hadn’t been properly acquainted with him—mostly because the girl wasn’t fond of strangers. You’re new here, huh? The pale Stark asked as she approached the older male, her maw canted to the side. The moon was high in the sky now, watching them. She offered him a small smile but her eyes burned with youthful curiosity.

Simple staring at the stars he could feel the tension he hadn't know was there slip away. Feeling so small made it easy to think that the minor incidents during the day were nothing because there was always something bigger out there. So what if he had bit his tongue when he had tripped it would heal and be forgotten not something to get sour about. Even while he knew this Reid was also very aware that he could hold a grudge. Right now was time to relax and enjoy how the stars seemed to twinkle.

His ears picked up the sound of paw steps and Reid wondered if it was someone who was going to join him or someone on there way to get some sleep. The sound was getting louder and taking his eyes off the stars he looked to see who was coming. It was a pale girl with green who he hadn't meet before, though he hadn't been going out of his way to meet the rest of the pack, simply focusing on keeping busy. She questioned if he was new here her expression curious.

It's that obvious? He asked in return. Did he stick out that much? Or was it simply because everyone knew everyone here? Did you come to look at the stars too? Reid's muzzle motioned to the twinkling sky above them. Perhaps it had simply been her curiosity that brought her out to find him. Either way, he had some company now.

It’s that obvious? Well, duh. Most of the pack was family or wolves that had known each other for years. The scarlet wolf stuck out like a sore dew claw. She had noticed him spending a lot of time with the raven’s daughter, the wolf that had brought the newcomer to the Kingswood. The ebony cub spent most of her time on her own, or chasing after her mother, so a friend was good for her. Especially since Lavender couldn’t always pester her age-mate for adventures, as she had her own duties to tend to.

The girl followed his gaze to the dark sky above, a thoughtful expression adorning her pale features. Stars. Her head tipped to the side, a single brow arched into her forehead. Kinda? She answered as she returned her attention to the auburn male, her hindquarters slumping against the ground. Just wanted to go for a night walk. She shrugged, dismissing her own words. But the stars are nice, too. Sometimes she watched them, when she was alone, and the sky was perfectly dark. And sometimes, if she was lucky, she would accompany her father on a night patrol and get him to watch the stars too.

OOC: Apologies for the off post

She gave him a look that said it all. He was rather obvious among a pack that was filled with seemingly colorless wolves his red pelt made him very noticeable he was sure and probably an oddity as well. How many red-hued wolves did they see? Not very many he was sure. Most were likely browns, blacks, and whites, not red.

Her gaze followed in the direction he had motioned to and she appeared to be thinking about something. Stars were stars they meant something a little different to everyone. They had been a constant for him most of his life and they had also helped to keep him from breaking during the rough months he had endured. Not just because they were stars but because he knew that his family was looking at those same stars waiting for his return.

Reid raised a brow at her as she told him that was kinda out here to look at them but not because she was out for a night walk. She went on to say that they were nice too. Compared to what? Her night walk? He glanced back to the stars once more before looking at his companion again. They would be there for a while yet so he could spend some time with the younger wolf because for some reason he felt like she had a lot on her mind. Did you want some company on your walk? He asked her even though she had just sat down.

Lavender Stark

The newcomer to Hearthwood seemed a little more intrigued in the stars than Lavender was. So, naturally, the girl felt bad for brushing them off. He had gone off in search of solitude and she had ruined it with her big mouth and dismissive words. She blinked, her brows narrowed in concern as she allowed her chartreuse gaze to settle on his scarlet pelt once more. Oh well. Now that he was part of a pack privacy was hard to come by—near impossible within the Hearthwood borders. She still felt kind of bad, but it didn’t linger.

His questioned earned a surprised expression from the girl, her head flopping to the side. If y’want! She chirped in response, although she did not uncoil her legs from beneath her. Not yet. I don’t mind star watchin’ with you, if that’s what you wanna do, she added with another shrug as a small smile unfolded across her pale maw. He had gotten here first, after all. She did not mind walking on her own if he wanted to continue star gazing. Or staying with him until she grew tired of watching the tiny specks of light. (Which probably wouldn’t take long.)

She seemed to be concerned about something he noted as her brows scrunched together. What could she be thinking about to make her face squish that much? He wasn't sure if he wanted to ask or not and decided to keep his mouth shut. Some pups could get some rather interesting ideas in there head. Instead, he simply waited to see what she wanted to do.

Stay here and watch the stars? Or go on her walk with or without company?

Her expression quickly shifted to one of surprise as his question registered and Reid didn't bother to hide the amused smile that crossed his face as she chirped at him. She didn't move from her spot though and she went on to say that she didn't mind watching the stars with him if he wanted to do that instead. His smile grew bigger. Another polite pup how curious. Were all the pups here this well-behaved and polite?

The stars will still be there after the walk. He commented tipping his own head with a grin. If the walk took most of the night he could always come back a different night to look at them. It wasn't all that pressing even if he did like to look at them. Getting to his feet he glanced around at the trees that circled them before returning his gaze to his companion. Which way are we heading?

The pale Stark responded to his comment with a bright grin, his plume wagging softly behind her. For a fleeting moment she had felt bad for interrupting him, but the scarlet wolf made a good point. As long as the walk didn’t take too long the stars would still be there when their paws grew tired. And, if they ended up walking longer than expected there would always be the following night, as the stars always remained. Walks, however, were always different. Even if she took the same route two nights in a row Lavender would see something different, as things would change during the day.

She sprang to her paws as Reid did, a wide grin settling across her pale maw. Which way are we heading? The girl hadn’t thought that far ahead. Usually she let her paws do the thinking for her. Her brows pinched together as she glanced around, her ears cupped forward. Hmmmmm, she started, her smile twisting into a concentrated frown as she stepped forward, this way! She tossed her body in a random direction, east by the looks of it, and motioned for the older male to follow her with a flick of her nose.

The stars would be there when they returned and Reid didn't know of anything that would change that. The only things that would stop him from seeing them would be the trees and the clouds but the stars would still be there. So if he couldn't see them tonight it wasn't that big of a deal to him. It might be even more interesting to see where the Little Miss might take him.

She jumped to her feet and Reid's tail swayed behind him as a grin crossed her face. The stars didn't hold much interest for her then and he had chosen the right option. Her brows pinched together as she thought about where they would be heading on this little escapade. He waited as she seemed to pick a direction with a tossed 'this way!'. Shrugging to himself Reid followed after his companion not wanting to be left behind.

Do you go for walks often? He asked wondering if this was a regular thing for her or if she only did it for a reason. And if it was the later what reason that might be. Reid glanced to her to see what her facial expression would change into because so far her face seemed to twist in some way with every question he asked.
