@Risaela | late morning, light snow fall

Exploring the mountain in the winter, with snow falling from above, wasn’t one of his best ideas. But he was curious about the land they had decided to settle in and wanted to explore as much as possible before they moved again—if they did. His mother seemed intent on making a home out of the mountain. He, too, was partial to the rocky terrain, for it reminded him of the monadnock. The good parts of the monadnock, not the parts tainted with painful memories. As much as he enjoyed travelling he was not opposed to the idea of settling down. Having a place to return to after spending his day adventuring. The south was not appealing to him, despite being home to a particular amber-eyed girl. The mountain was close enough for him to visit without being gone for too long.

He kept to the lower parts of the mountain, for he feared if he went too high he wouldn’t be able to make it back down. The snow fell from the grey sky at a leisurely place; not enough to raise alarm. He might not be able to track his previous tracks on the way back to where they were camping out but he’d be able to find another path with ease. There was so much more to the Lore than he had initially thought. From the monadnock he could see for miles on a good day, and he had observed the very mountain he was now walking on from a distance. It was a strange feeling, to be stepping through the same territory he had once watched from afar. It was a lot different than he had expected, but that was also due to the amount of snow that blanketed the stone. Trees surrounded him, sheltering him from some of the wind as he continued forward, his nose pressed to the ground as he searched for something to capture his attention…

Risaela ???
Ris was beginning to get used to this type of terrain. It had only taken a couple of tumbles into the shallow parts of the Surge for her to start learning. The rocks still crumbled under her paws and sent her falling head-over-tail multiple times per day, as it was significantly different than the terrain over where Hearthwood had been. The ground was so much less comfortable, but her paws were tougher than most of the other former River cubs - the travel she was so fond of had hardened them.

Too bad it didn’t toughen her nose.

The silver girl had escaped the other Surge wolves for the time being, even though she wasn’t fond of going places without Mako these days. She was a bit further up the rocks than she liked, but she thought she would be fine... but she was wrong.

A familiar pitch black pelt caught her attention and took it away from where she was placing her paws, and down she went. The pale pup went tumbling down the hill and landed on her chin, turning one last magnificent flip before flopping onto her stomach. Exactly at Cyril’s feet. If she was Ayti, she would probably say something like ’I’ve fallen for you,’ but she wasn’t Ayti, and therefore simply wagged her tail a bit and glanced up at him from the ground (as though she hadn’t just fallen like an idiot.)

”Hi there.”

He hadn’t really been watching where he was going, mostly because everything looked the same. Piles of white snow surrounded him from all directions, making him feel like he was dreaming. Or dead. He blinked, a frown creasing his dark features as he raised his nose from the ground. Perhaps it was time for him to return to his mother and Cheedo… where it was a little more protected. Safer. But his paws didn’t retreat. Instead he continued forward, his movements slower than before, but still as persistent.

A sound, however, finally caused his steps to falter. His frown deepened as he glanced around, the fur on the back of his neck lifting… maybe it was time he turned around…

A flash of tawny fur alerted the boy that he was no longer alone. It tumbled through the snow, a whirlwind of black, grey and brown, making it impossible to make out a face. Until it landed right at the boy’s feet, causing him to stumble backward in surprise. The smell that cocooned her agouti fur was not one that he recognized—it was more wild than the earthy one he remembered clinging to her pelt. Had she changed packs? What had happened in the north since Whitestone’s collapse?

Hi there.

Her voice dragged him back to reality but it did not cause the frown to diminish from his dark features. What are you doing here? He asked, his maw falling to the side. Risaela had always been a bit of a wanderer but the mountain was quite far from Hearthwood…
