Nia Hervok
Side by side or miles apart

Nia couldn't help it anymore, she was alone and sad and hungry and worst of all alone. Things were not as easy as the creamy fluff had expected them to be. Her emerald orbs were lined with water as she fought back any tears. The pup's long legs had carried her so far already, and while she had rested her and there, they ached. She wanted to stop. She wanted to lie down and rest, but she had been resting a lot lately.

Nia's belly grumbled loudly, her ears hung to the side, and face defeated. She did not feel herself without her brother's presence. It was amongst her gloominess she found a ray of hope. The scent of a pack drifted to her nostrils and fueled her forward into a trot. Her tail wagged steadily behind her as she searched about for the boarders.

Finding them she became a little nervous, would if she was wrong, and her mind was playing tricks on her? Could she simply imagine a smell that's not actually there? "Hello?" She called out meekly, hoping she wasn't talking to the wind. "Can someone help me?" She asked still peering about the territory. Thinking herself wrong, the girl took a few steps away from the boarder and started to turn. "I'm so lost..."She mumbled to herself. She longed to find her grandmother more than anything at this point, being alone was extremely difficult.

Things were rather quiet in the Scowle. No action made the duchess a very dull boy, as he was the type that craved attention and thrived on the misfortunes of others. Especially when it did not involve him.

They had hosted two others around his age—relatives, according to mother. But he hadn’t seen much of them—not lately, anyway. But the boy had been keeping to himself, testing his limits and exploring the lands that his mother had raved about back in Torbine. He couldn’t understand why. There was nothing special about them, especially with all the white crap all over the place. For whatever reason Morganna had grown quite fond of this place and Sterling was willing to try, but he couldn’t promise to like it. Or pretend to.

The scent of another reached him as he meandered along the lagoon, followed by a soft voice he did not recognize. Can someone help me? He snorted, his upper lip curling in mild amusement. Someone clearly wasn’t paying attention to border markers… but who was Sterling to judge? He had tested some border security at the Ridge a few weeks prior. But that was different. This girl, whoever she was, had not yet crossed the borders, but she was close enough.

Yo, he called out as he approached the pale girl, his brows narrowed darkly. You can help yourself by leaving. He wasn’t in the mood to coddle (not that he ever was) and help her find her way. She had a perfectly good nose; she could help herself.

Bojay Lyall
The boy was loud, crashing through the snowy earthy and only barely catch the tail end of his baby brother's words. A large smirk sat on his masked face as he halted a few feet away from both of the wolves. "Now, now brother." Bojay gave a soft shake of his head. "We always have time for someone who's willing to make a deal." There was no way the Lyall would help for free. It wasn't even likely he'd help even if they did make a deal.

But he had grown restless for some fun because everyone around him seemed so devoided of life.

He slid up to Sterling's side, chest puffed as if that might make him seem any bigger when compared to his leggy brother. "What is it you need help with? And what's it worth?" Never once did his smirk leave his face. He already had this all planned out and it would provide him the fun he was looking for.

Nia stopped at the sound of approaching paws, ears swiveling to listen to the strange greeting as she moved to look at the male. Another pup, the girl's tailed wagged nervously, her posture respectful to the pack wolf. However, his next set of words left the girl frowning.

"O-oh...um, okay."
This was a grumpy pup for sure. The girl merely sighed, even if this hadn't gone in her favor, perhaps since she had found this pack, there would be others. The simple fact that a wolf had came was huge, it was hope. Maybe she would find more wolves along the way who'd be happier.

As the girl went to attempt her leave again another wolf approached seemingly correcting the other for his rude behavior. The idea allowed some tension to roll off the girl's shoulder, but not for long. The situation remained unpromising as this wolf wanted...a deal? What could he possibly want from her? Her mind drifted back to @Garmir. Were wolves just like this in her mother's Lore? Selfish and expectant? Of course, Garmir hadn't been necessarily selfish in compassion to these two. He had helped her first before requesting anything in return and didn't flat out tell her to get.

The girl sighed, unsure if these fellow pups were worth her time.

"I'm looking for a river so I can follow it home, I was hoping to find someone who could point me in the right direction."
The girl thought about his question for a moment,
"Shouldn't you be deciding what your time is worth? If you don't want to help me I have no problem leaving."
The girl's tone was calm and quiet. Much too quiet for the girl in which it belonged to. She was tired and these boys seemed to not want to help her but instead the one wanted her gone and the other to waste the time of each whelp present. It was moments like these she wished for Neo to be besides her to help her get out of her predicaments. Attempting another leave the girl started to back away...

Permission to skip Sterling given by Arla<3

This girl was all sorts of confused, wasn't she? He gave a brief wary glance to @Sterling, wondering if he felt the same. He let her take a few steps back before Bojay stepped forward. His victim was not getting away so easily. The boy wanted to play a bit of cat-and-mouse but it was no fun without the mouse.

"Where ya going, girl? No one said they didn't want to help you." Not even Sterling had said that if Bojay had heard his words right. "I know where a river is." He said in a genuine tone. Perhaps that would make the girl more willing to stay for a bit longer. There was no way she would know what he had up his sleeve and if anything he was presenting himself as a beacon of hope.

"But ya gotta give us at least your name. Ma won't be happy if we don't know who our visitors are." His shoulders shrugged. Bojay had no idea if his words were even true but if anything it might entice Sterling to help him out.

His silver ears swivelled to the side at the sound of an approaching wolf, his frown only deepening across his pale features. The grumpy duchess was pleased to see the familiar russet figure of his brother—the one sibling that annoyed him the least, although his rambunctious attitude could be a lot to handle. As his brother spoke Sterling exhaled sharply through his nose to show his disinterest. Bojay and his deals. But, Sterling was always up for a bout of fun. The brothers’ bag of tricks was deeper than the lagoon—there was plenty of fun to be had with the pale loner. As his brother addressed the girl once more Sterling returned his attention to the green-eyed girl, his lips tight and gaze hard as he waited for her to respond.

She began spewing some bullshit about a river, home and being pointed in the right direction. He wasn’t listening, nor did he care. Ideally he just wanted her away from the borders of Pookastone. Rolling his eyes he met Bojay’s glance, his frown still prominent against his pale maw. He allowed his brother to respond first, stating that no one said they weren’t going to help her and that he knew where a river was before requesting her name. Can’t help you without a name, he chimed in as he stepped up beside his brother once more, his maw canted to the side. ’N I happen to know where a river is, too. He shrugged. But, if you don’t want our help we can leave you be. There was no way in hell that Sterling would just leave her be but he liked having her think that. It was much more hospitable than we’re going to chase you out.

They had her sole attention now, they knew where a river lay. Hopefully the correct river though...Nia thought back to her encounter with Garmir. He had said something about the sun setting west and rising south...maybe? Or was it the other was around? North east? She really wasn't sure. The girl relaxed some, maybe she was just misjudging them. Still she wasn't quite comfortable giving her name out for once, and really wasn't sure why. She was a proud Hervok princess!

The girl found a shred of dignity, "Nia Hervok." She held pride in her name, but held off the bit about her royal lines. They didn't need to know everything and they probably weren't interested. The two pups before her were kind of strange after all. Nervously the girl wagged her tail, "So...this deal of yours for information?" She asked a little more eager. She just wanted to be home already and was dreadfully tired. Being with her grandmother would surely improve things. The girl looked to Sterling, "Oh, please, I'd love your help." It wasn't quite a beg, her voice whiny, but not too desperate. She kept reminding herself that there were others who might help her if these two decided not to.

@Bojay

Nia Hervok. He frowned. It wasn’t a very interesting name, but neither was she, so it was fitting he supposed. She seemed too eager for help; blissfully unaware about the potential consequences of her willingness. The girl was about to make a deal with not one but two devils. The poor soul. She had come to the wrong part of the Lore and should have kept her distance from the lagoon. It took every fibre of his body to resist snorting at her plea. Instead his grey eyes hardened as he glanced over at his russet brother, an amused grin tugging at his black lips. What information are you willing to give up, he started, his attention refocused on the girl as he spoke, for our information? The words dripped through his teeth like venom, staining the cold air between them as he regarded her with a curious expression. What’s so special about this river of yours, huh? He didn’t really care. He was just stalling until he figured out what his brother was planning.

He let his brother take the reigns for a bit, hyping up the girl while he figured something out in his mind. How could they mess with this wolf to the absolute maximum?

Bojay heard his brother question and offered a half-hearted bump on his shoulder. "Didn't ya hear? She needs the river to find her home." He explained in a rather relaxed tone. Her situation seemed maybe minor at most. His siblings and he had to trail after their mother's scent to find out where they were to go. Following a river would have been leagues easier.

"How about this - we call on you if we ever need a little bit of help and in exchange for that we give you directions." A brow raised as he glanced at the two pale wolves. "Does everyone think that's fair?"

The only underlying detail was that Bojay never said he had good directions or that he was going to give the right directions. He was preying on the optimism of the female for this all to work.
