TW - thoughts of suicide?

Maybe it was the fever that made him leave. Maybe he was just exhausted. Maybe he was dying. But did any of that really matter? He was so sick of maybes and could bes. So if he died, he wouldn’t have to worry about it. That wouldnt be so bad.

But he had come down south for a reason... he’d just gotten turned around and lost somewhere in his search for the woman he had mated with. He always tried to stick around to make sure they weren’t pregnant. He just couldn’t last time because he had been trying to find Risaela.

His shoulder was swollen and puffy with infection, and his body burned with fever. The dark Delaney had always thought his father would be the death of him, and now he knew that was true. At least this pool of water he had found was a pretty place to die.

The former Guardian laid down beside the water, his muzzle resting on the edge of the bank so he could watch the little fish swim around.

This really was a pretty place to die.

The stench of infection caused her muzzle wrinkle with distaste, but this wasn't wounded prey or a fallen rival. It was a wolf, and she could not pass him by. When she found him, there was little life left in his eyes. Was it the injury, or was he giving up? From what she could see, this wasn't something he couldn't bounce back from, but of course her grey eye could not capture everything. There could be plenty more going on inside of him, eating him alive and tearing him from this world.

Still, she would try.

"Can you stand?" the words were not soft, they were not a gentle request. He was expected to answer promptly, truthfully. @Veho would be difficult to lead if he'd already ingested his typical round of hallucinogenics; it would be better if this man could make it back to the ruins of the Hollow.

Angels were pretty.

Silver, with mismatched silver and blue eyes, and a large stature. Not really the glorious gold he thought they might be, but certainly pretty. A night sight to damn him to hell, like he deserved. He awaited the ethereal creature’s judgment, his dull hazel eyes flicking upward to meet her strange eyes before looking away again.

The dark wolf wouldn’t apologize to her. Heaven wasn’t where he wanted to go anyway. He would just end up ruining that, like he had wrecked everything else in his life.

’Can you stand?’

That was odd of an angel to ask, Aytigin mused silently. The mocha-furred man could see no harm in complying with the mystic creature’s request, however.

But he would have to test it himself to make sure he actually could first.

With a grunt of effort, the Delaney hauled himself to his three working paws, wincing as it jarred his all-but-ruined shoulder. He breathed raggedly, pain evident on his tired and defeated features, as he responded, ”...I can...”
