RE: A double rainbow stretches through the sky.
Open for one or two.  Midday.  Mostly overcast, 68F/20C.

If felt good to get out and stretch her legs, really stretch them. The trio had been out and about the past several days, having been moved from the birthing den to the Heights den proper, but Kyna still hadn’t been comfortable leaving the territory for more than quick excursions. But at this point, the boys still seemed (mostly) content with exploring what was within reach – she forgot how very new everything must seem to a puppy for the first time – and with most of her pack still milling around, it gave the redheaded alpha time to go for a run. To move. She intended to go back with something for the caches, of course, she couldn’t waste time like that, but…

Well, the little excursion down to the lake, dipping in the cool waters, that felt pretty nice. It seemed she had just missed a rainstorm, for as she finally stopped paddling idly, she glanced up and saw bright colors across the sky. “Oh! Just like an aurora.”

A daytime aurora. And wasn’t that something special?

Solas ColdHeart

He had been out looking for Tulip, it seemed to be all he did now. Hunts were done only when he was hungry and he had started to spend nights outside the protection of the Cove. The wear and tear was slowly beginning to show and he seemed to have a permanent frown on his face now. Solas wasn't giving up, but he was returning to the Cove for a brief respite from searching. He needed to rest and get something in his stomach.

Slipping through the rocks the stormy male paused when the scent of another wolf crossed his path. It was from the pack to the south, his frown became more defined. The only good thing was maybe she had some information that he could use to find their missing packmate. Changing course he headed towards her and faintly caught her saying something about an Aurora. A quick glance to sky revealed not and Aurora but a double rainbow. He might have cursed at it if he had been alone. It felt like mother nature was trying to spite him, but he couldn't help but wonder if it might mean that some good luck was coming around the corner. One could hope.

Close but not quite. He commented as he padded a reasonable distance from her. One brow raised as he noted that she was taking a dip but he didn't comment this wasn't part of the Cove's territory she could swim if she wanted to. It just bothered him that others were having 'fun' while Tulip was gone, taken in fact. But she didn't know about that now did she?

Kyna had not noticed the stranger creep up on her – but she had not been really paying that much attention, either. The Queen sighed softly, allowing herself only a moment for an internal scolding, and turned to face the other. An adult. Large, grey. He didn’t look familiar, but smelled like the pack near the Cove. She hadn’t trespassed – hadn’t even gone near their borders – but she supposed it wasn’t strange to see one of those wolves out here. It wasn’t far from their turf.

“A respectable analogy, I rather thought. What is a summer rainbow but not the daytime companion to the winter night’s brilliant aurora spread?”

She didn’t really expect much of an answer. Kyna did not move from her spot in the cool water. “I won’t loiter long,” she hummed after a few moments. “If that’s what you’re worried about.” She had no intentions of starting a border war with her northern neighbors.
