Sachiel Leigh Selwyn
@Hawthrone only | RE: Sachiel, a ladybug lands on your nose and won't leave!
Early morning.

Sachiel had been testing his luck with his excursions away from the Edge. He’d been fortunate to escape the coyotes unscathed and keep mostly to himself, but the number of coyotes lingering around the shallows was alarming. He felt useless confining himself to the pack territory and typically spent most of his time wandering aimlessly along the borders; marking them and searching for prey to bring back to the caches. Sometimes he’d pester Pumpkin Eyes to join him, but he had been spending an unusual amount of time on his own. Maybe it was part of growing up, or being a teenager. He just hoped that his closest friend and Edge Lords didn’t think he was avoiding them, or didn’t want to be around anymore. He was just being moody, or whatever.

The gangly youth was sprawled out beside the mirror-like water in an attempt to soak up as much sunlight as possible before retreating into the trees one more. He usually snuck out of the main den before the others to enjoy a few moments of solitude (and silence) by the water’s edge before starting his day. Today, however, his solitude did not last long. But it wasn’t the appearance of a packmate that ruined Sachiel’s time alone. No—it was a bug. A red and black-spotted bug. And it had landed on the tip of his nose. He blinked, his cream-coloured brows pinching tight as he attempted to blow the insect off with a sharp exhale. Unfortunately, the creature did not budge and clung on, causing the corners of his mouth to fall. He extended his lower lip and blew straight up, but the persistent ladybug refused to move. His expression darkened as a defeated sigh escaped him before he lowered his chin to his paws. Whatever. The bug could stay there.

Hawthorne Selwyn

Something about the girl had been off as of late but then again didn't everyone seem a bit off? Maybe it was the coyotes putting everyone in the Edge on the edge. She didn't stray too far from the territory. Her priorities all belonged right here. She marked the borders and caught what she could within the borders. There wasn't a doubt in her mind that they would ruin the lands like this but what option did she have? Go out and get ruined by coyotes just for a dumb rabbit or two? She loved the Shallows but that was a bit much.

She crawled out of the den that morning looking a bit rough. The Selwyn had spent the whole night tossing and turning. She wouldn't be surprised if she had kicked or been kicked last night.

When she neared the lake to get a drink, she spotted a familiar tawny form. Hawthorne gently moved forward like a cat getting ready to strike. The closer she got though, the more something seemed off. There was a bump on his nose? What had he done? Where had it come from? Hey, what's wrong with your nose? Oops that sounded a bit rude. I mean, uh, what's going on with your nose?

He had accepted defeat. No matter how much he moved his head or attempted to blow the tiny creature from his nose it would not budge. It had made a home on his face and he had accepted that this bug would now be his permanent life partner. There was nothing he could do.

His ears twitched at the sound of movement, causing his brows to furrow as he glanced around the edge of the shallows. As a familiar greyscale shape crept toward him his shoulders sagged in relief and his tail began thudding against the ground. The tawny youth was always pleased to see Pumpkin Eyes, even if her obnoxiously coloured irises occasionally made his head ache. With things being so tense among the Edge wolves, due to the irritating arrival of coyotes, the dynamic duo had not been spending much time together.

Aka, not as much time as he would like.

But he did not want to pester her or follow her around like a lost puppy. Even if he was at his best when she was by his side. He didn’t want her to think he was needy or bothersome. Especially now that they were teenagers.

Hey, what’s wrong with your nose?

His mismatched eyes narrowed as a frown creased his soft features. The girl was quick to correct herself, but the tawny Selwyn was not offended. It would take more than that from his peppered friend to upset him. This is Susan, he explained rather matter-of-factly, his chin lifting slightly so his friend could get a better look, She won’t leave me alone. His frown quickly turned into a crooked grin before he spoke once more: You’ve got competition. She’s my new favourite. That, of course, was a lie. But she didn’t have to know that.
