Kyrios Aegina Stark

The water was brisk against his paws, despite the warmth of approaching mid-summer, washing up against pale legs as a sharp reminder of its mountain origins. But the cold only spurred the young Captain on further, his tail lashing decisive as he gazed out over the lake. His attention had fallen on the little island, tantalisingly close and just begging to be explored, the coarse rock and dense woods only adding to the challenge.

And Kyrios Aegina needed no one to dare him, he was perfectly willing to run the risk of his own accord, with the only possible gain being the rush of the act. Taking a deep breath, he rushed out into the water, gasping with elation when the cold enveloped him. His muscles stiffened up even as he started to kick determinately, teeth chattering a few times until he clenched them tightly, turning his eyes towards the goal. Submerged in the freezing depths, feeling the undertow around his paws, the island suddenly seemed much further away, every labored stroke bringing him only fractions closer to the rocky shore. Yet all of it only served to urge him forwards, legs moving faster to keep him afloat in the light surf.

Having grown up on the banks of a river, Kyrios was an abled swimmer, timing his strokes to a steady rhythm. After a near drowning experience as a youngster, he had trained vigorously to master the waves, and this light swell was nothing compared to the surge of Hearthwood River. So, though nearly frozen to the bone and gasping slightly, he eventually made it to the small pebble-beach, dragging himself out of the water and vigorously shaking his fur, all while wearing a broad grin; Success!
