RE: Mako, after a recent storm, you discovery a newly formed stream.

The situation with the packs to the east was admittedly not the best for hunting. So Mako went west, avoiding the mountain foothills in favor of the relatively easier terrain of the fjord. The summer heat was nearly a physical weight that pushed down on Mako's broad shoulders as he walked along the steep slopes, the glimpses through the trees of the expanse of water down below a bittersweet reminder of his time at Blackfish Bay.

Mako roughly shook his blocky head, trying to return his attention to the task at hand. The thunderstorm that passed through the day before left the ground damp and spongy underpaw, making the air thick and humid under the heat of the midday sun. It left Mako feeling a bit more irritable than usual, and he used that as the driving force to push him forward as he scoured the forest for some sign of prey.

The sound of trickling water caught his attention, a bit of a surprise since he didn't recall there being a stream here. Thinking back to his lessons with @Jynx he turned towards the sound. Water sources attracted animals, and sometimes prey. It was worth checking out. The glistening ribbon pulsed between rocks and trees as it spilled down the incline of the fjord, and though there was no prey to be seen, Mako was thankful for the chance to sooth his dry throat. The Coho stepped forward, dipping his head down to slurp gratefully at the cool water.

Cancer
It wasn't often that Cancer struck out this far, certainly without @Risaela, but he'd needed a break and couldn't wait any longer for one. It completely frayed his nerves living so close to the expansive lowlands. Their openness and familiarity made it hard to breathe just looking at them, and any time his friend ventured out into the waving grain to interact with their other packmates, he felt like it would be the end of her. Like the nothingness of it all would just swallow her whole.

No, it was so much better were, with the jagged precipices and distorted horizon line. He felt covered even though alone, far safer than he ever did in the fields.

He went after the sound and smell of water, fresh only as rain-fed mountain runoff could be, and took in a few swallows before noticing that a bit further down, another wolf was quenching his own thirst. An unfamiliar wolf. Cancer side-eyed him, a clear look of don't talk to me, before returning to his drink. Just incase the boy had any ideas about getting friendly.

Mako Coho
@Cancer

Mako felt the back of his neck tickle as he sensed someone approaching at just the edge of his senses. He wasn't wrong in his assumption that water would attract other animals to this place. But as he looked up from his drink he found, unfortunately, that other animal appeared in the form of an unknown wolf just a short ways upstream from him. Their coat was inky dark, and Mako found himself staring long enough to catch sight of brilliant blue eyes set in a handsomely angled face.

Mako had lifted his head to stare wordlessly, water dripping from his chin. It seemed like the other had noticed him, yet the stranger made no move to actually acknowledge Mako's presence. The Coho's stomach tied itself in knots as he tried to figure out whether he should acknowledge the stranger or not, if the black wolf was waiting for him to say something. Or maybe he wanted to be left alone. But if he did, then why had he decided on stopping nearby for a drink?

Mako's white eyebrows steadily lowered, forming a deep furrow between them as he tried to figure out like some sort of riddle. Should he say something? Or not? All the while cluelessly glaring a hole through the poor man.

Cancer
Cancer continued to slake his thirst, but it wasn't the nice, relaxing drink he'd been looking forward too. He felt eyes on him even after sending his quick, wordless little message. A few times he glanced, and sure as hell, the other boy was watching him. Not just eyeing him time to time, but straight up staring him down with this dumb, scrunched up look on his face. Finally, Cancer's head shot back up to shoulder level, hackles bristling aggressively to immediately show how peeved off he was getting.

"Yo what the fuck're you looking at?" he snapped, uncaring about whatever imbalance might exist between this guy's action and his own reaction. He was bugging him and clearly he needed a loud and clear signal to get that.
