This is a special hunt thread involving the BWP, all pack members who participate in this (make 3 posts) are eligible for 20 health points, the prey will be controlled by thread participants from here on out. Tagging @Askan and @Reyes as the leaders of SE.

The caribou cow was exhausted already. She had been running for hours from the coyote pack that had ganged up on her, biting and chewing at her legs until they bled and quivered. She had only half realized what she was doing when she crossed the invisible line that marked where free land became wolf owned land. The alarm bells in her head screamed in the back of her consciousness but it relieved the immediate fear from the smaller canines. Eyelids drooped in protest but she couldn't let herself sleep, instead she groggily lowered her head to the lake and drank deeply. Even the cooler liquid hitting her lips brought back some of her awareness, and so she plunged her mouth back into the water.

I don't care if heaven won't take me back

Askan couldn't quite believe his eyes. It wasn't everyday that a lone-and clearly injured- cow visited the Shallows. He stood atop the falls, hidden amongst the rocks and foliage. She clearly hadn't noticed him, but the tension in her form made it obvious that she knew where she was, that she was aware of the fate that could befall her.

His first instinct was to tip his head back and ring the proverbial dinner bell, after all it had been a while since the Edge wolves had all hunted together. But as impulsive as he was, Askan soon realised that wasn't the best course of action. In alerting his pack mates he would reveal his presence to the cow. Her legs were all messed up, bloodied and bruised, but he didn't doubt that she'd still try to make a run for it. So what was he to do? Well, if he didn't want the cow to escape he'd have to stop her. It was as simple as that.

Without even realising it, she'd put herself in a dangerous position. The Shallows acted as a natural barrier, and were far too deep for even an elk to stand in, so all he had to do was prevent her from going back the way she came. She was stuck between a rock and hard place.

The cow lowered her gaze and bowed down to drink again, it was only when she was fully distracted did Askan move from his position atop the small falls. He scaled down the slopes and over the rocks, every footfall careful and calculated, lest he revealed himself before he was ready.

Only when he was behind her, ready to block off her exit, did he call for backup. Today the wolves of Shallows Edge would feast.

Lyanna Tainn

Lyanna had been waist-deep in patrol when the call rang out over the territory. Since her arrival, she'd yet to take part in anything involving the pack as a collective whole, so naturally she wondered what was going on, her ears perking up atop her head. Resigning to leave her task for now, she was quick to heed Askan's summons.

She weaved her way through the forest quickly, dodging the tree trunks and bounding over any obstacles impeding her speedy pace. Eventually she came upon the scene - and the situation was much different than she thought it'd be. There at the water's edge was Askan, heading off a lone caribou cow who was roughed up and in a panic. Lyanna skid to a stop in her surprise, brows raising to take in the sight. Had he managed to beat her up like that all by his lonesome? And what in the world was she even doing here, right in the middle of Shallows Edge? The cow was either desperate or incredibly dull, or perhaps both; no matter - she was more than welcome to make for a lovely lunch.

Wasting no time in getting over to the unusual stand off, Lyanna circled around behind her Leader to block the cow from making any sort of exit, her tail curled up over her back as her mouth began to water. She was ready to take any sort of direction from the Selwyn, but in the mean time was managing to keep the wobbly, bloodied creature contained on her end.

Sachiel Leigh Selwyn

He had caught scent of the injured cow before Askan’s call rang through the trees, beckoning the Edgy wolves forward. He was already streaking through the trees, a wide grin tugging at his creamy lips. They were going to feast tonight! A delicious reward for all the flea-ridden coyotes they had been dealing with for the past month—and for being confined to pack territory. He had grown restless and bored as the days passed; a dangerous combination. He had even been spending less time with his peppered companion, which made him feel even worse. But today—today he felt free. A meal had walked into their home and, hopefully, it would help pull Sachiel out of his slump. He was growing tired of moping about and feeling useless. This was the perfect way to make himself feel like an asset once more. Sure, he had helped Lyanna with her injuries, but that was only one wolf. He wanted to help the entire pack; his family.

He exploded through the trees and pulled up on the side opposite of Lyanna. His black-tipped tail was wagging excitedly behind him as he turned to Askan, the wide smile still present on his handsome features. As badly as he wanted to lunge at the injured cow and sink his teeth into her flesh Sachiel would wait for the Selwyn’s command.

Thanks for joining guys <3
Though of course others are still welcome to hop in.
Also I did the math and it seems like there is 120 LP up for grabs? 20 for completing a thread, 50 for participating in a successful pack hunt and 50 for participating in a pack activity.
I don't care if heaven won't take me back

The cow stared at him wide eyed and panicked. As he'd anticipated, her first instinct was to run, to dart for the cover of trees. Before she could even raise a hoof to head that way, he stomped forward and cut her off. The cow tried to dash off in the opposite direction but he stopped her in her tracks once more. It was clear that she couldn't run, that he wouldn't allow it, so if she wanted to escape she'd have to fight for it. Something the injured cow was in no state to do...What she didn't realise was that with every passing second the likelihood of her surviving this encounter was getting smaller and smaller. Backup was on the way, she might be able to escape one wolf, but not three or more.

Sure enough, two tawny wolves appeared on the scene. Lyanna and Sachiel.

Askan offered them a smug little grin. It was by chance that the injured cow had stumbled into his territory, but he wasn't going to admit that. Certainly not now. If they wanted to think he'd done all of the work they were more than welcome to. His tail waved high behind him, he wasn't usually so earnest with his greetings but it wasn't everyday a free meal arrived on their doorstep.

"She's wounded, but she's still got some life in her. Do not let her kick you." His gaze and words were pointed at Sachiel. The boy had made leaps and bounds when it came to his hunting prowess, but he still had much to learn.

Now for the plan of attack. Askan's brows drew together as he considered it all. Their location, their numbers and the state of their prey. He slotted the pieces together in his mind, using logic and experience he came up with a plan.

"We want to keep pressuring her, keep her pinned against the lake. If you give her even a little bit of space she's going to try and make a run for it. It's her only choice.  So we move as one, get in and drag her down. Wear her out. She's already tired, it shouldn't take too long." He looked between his subordinates. He wasn't going to instigate anything unless he was certain they understood.

Lyanna Tainn

Lyanna hadn't been there long when Sachiel appeared on the scene, taking a position opposite of her. The excitement on his face was priceless and perhaps contagious. Adrenaline pumped through her body as her gaze flickered from he and Askan to the cow whose level of panic was quickly rising. The beast, wanting to lean away from the third predator to arrive, took a hesitant step in her direction and the girl quickly sidestepped with a low growl to discourage her from thinking twice about an escape in her direction. Not today.

Askan began to issue his instructions, his gaze going back and forth between the two subordinates while he kept the lone caribou in check on his end of their Edgy trifecta. She didn't take her eyes off of their target long, but her ears pressed forward in attention and she offered a simple nod of understanding for him to easily see. "Got it," she reassured, loudly enough to be heard over all the splashing and distressed calls of their prey. Perhaps it was a bit risky to close in on the cow in the waters of the little lake, given the way it dropped off rather suddenly further in. But, the three wolves seemed to have their dinner walled in well enough and between them a timely attack would make for an easy meal. Ready for anything, the Tainn waited for Askan to begin.

His mismatched gaze did not waver from the injured cow as his leader spoke until the do not let her kick you part of his speech. A sly grin rolled onto his handsome features as he turned to the golden-eyed Selwyn but he kept his tongue in check and nodded instead. Sachiel was no hunter extraordinaire but he was no fool. There was still much to learn and this was the perfect opportunity—especially with only three of them. But the boy wasn’t worried. He did not doubt that the trio would be able to fell the cow; they just had to work together.

Again, he nodded. The plan sounded easy but it would only work if the three of them worked as a single unit. This wasn’t Sachiel’s hunt, or Lyanna’s, or Askan’s. It was their hunt. It was for Shallows Edge. They needed this meal and he’d be damned if he was the reason why the weakened elk slipped away from them.

He rolled on the balls of his feet as he waited for his leader’s next instruction: he was ready to get this show on the road. Sachiel was huuuungry.

I don't care if heaven won't take me back

It was true that the elk could take to the water, but she was exhausted enough as it was. She wouldn't be able to touch the bottom, which meant she would have to waste even more energy trying to keep afloat. No matter how difficult she made this, the cow's fate had been sealed the moment she stepped over his borders: she was going to die today. Glancing between his subordinates, Askan then nodded, convinced that they understood what he expected of them. Well, there was no time like the present.

Steeling himself, Askan quickly rushed forward towards the wounded elk, teeth bared and tail raised high. She stumbled back in alarm, kicking up mud and water as she panicked- only to realise that the lake was far deeper than it appeared. The cow stomped forward, intending to put some space between her hooves and the lake shore, only to notice that all three of the wolves were now charging her. She didn't seem to know where to look. The dark wolf charging her head on, or the other two who approached her flanks? Her gaze flicked this way and that, as she raised her hoof to strike out at the air in warning.

Before she could even finish the motion, Askan had already closed the distance and latched onto her throat, as he dug his back paws into the dirt. Even with all of his strength at his disposal he knew it wouldn't be enough. They'd have to make her bleed, a lot, to even stand a chance. Good thing he had backup.

With everyone seeming to be in agreement moving forward, Askan didn't wait long at all before leading the attack. The dark wolf lunged forward at the cow who was panicked before and certainly in a frenzy now. She staggered about and backward in the water, one of her hind legs seeming to slip off the steep slope of the shallows as Askan managed to grab ahold of her exposed throat. The sound of the initiation of her demise might have been distressing for anyone else to hear, but it made Lyanna's jowl's water with in excitement.

In an instant the tawny girl was off, surging forward and into the water to cut the struggling beast off as she wavered in trying to hold herself stead and attempt to escape all the same. Water splashed about in every direction, dousing her face as she propelled herself from it to snatch at the cow's soft underbelly. Blood pooled in her mouth as her teeth sliced through flesh, a chunk of it hanging from her jaws as she angled herself to clamp her jaws around their dinner's foreleg, as high above the knee as she could manage. Tugging with all of her weight, the cow fumbled, drug down further by Askan as he hung on her neck. With a snarl, Lyanna kept at it, attacking anywhere she could in any way she could to immobilize their prey.

At this rate, by night fall the shallows would be stained crimson.

The silver wolf lingered a little further then the outskirts of the Edge. It wasn't nessacry their territory, but she put a mark here and there. The idea was to give the coyotes an early warning there was a dead end up ahead. The Keeper smirked at her own cleverness. Though not catching a whiff of the damn things only helped further her good mood. She'd like to think her efforts helped. At least on this side of the Edge. She still hadn't gotten to the other sections. But it was on the list. She had a thorough routine she like to mix up depending on the routes of her fellow packmates.

Sunk in her work she barely heard Askan. Once realizing it was him, her with her ears erect, she cocked her head, straining. He was definitely in the heart of the territory so what was up? All she could think was she needed to move as fast as she could to find out.

So a little late to the party she came upon Askan,Sachiel, uh new girl, and a wounded cow. How long had they been at this? There was a lot of blood and yet it was still alive. With a sharp bark, she threw herself into the fray. Throwing in a few nips, some more sharp than others while everyone else did the same. Forward, and back. Forward and back. She couldn't help think how they could get in a clean killing blow. The cow was exhausted, and why she couldn't see the wear on the Edge crew she was sure they would be soon enough.
