....a role play sample (200+ words): Birdsong broke through Mouseling’s troubled dreams. The scrawny wolf squinted his eyes at the sunlight peeking in. For a moment, he was back in the den. He could almost smell his brother and sisters sleeping mere inches away. When he went to nuzzle into their sides, he found nothing but cold dirt. That brought him back to the present.
Mouseling sighed as he remembered where he was. A thicket of brambles surrounded his makeshift bed. It was hardly comfortable, only roots and bare earth against his belly.
He got up on wobbly legs and exited through a small opening in the boughs. A warm breeze hit his face, carrying various smells from the green expanse ahead of him. He caught hints of prey, but also other wolves. There were strangers in this area that he had to be wary of.
His stomach rumbled, and the wolf decided food was more important than hiding away for another day.
As Mouseling padded through the tall grass, insects flew into the air around his head. He shook more than one panicked beetle off his snout in his search for food. The sun beat down hard on his back, making him pant in an attempt to cool off.
He followed a rabbit trail across the field, then into a line of dense trees. The scent disappeared under his nose in almost an instant. The dry dirt became cool and damp underpaw, pulling his attention away from tracking. Mouseling glanced up to see marsh grass and reeds on the edge of the trees. Encased in the grove he had found was an enormous body of water. Sunlight glinted off the lagoon like a mirror, sending rippling reflections onto the trees.
The wolf’s ears perked up at the beautiful sight. He pushed through the shore plants and made his way to the edge of the water. He dipped his head down to drink, feeling safe on the verdant shoreline.
and finally a bit about your character... Mouseling is cautious of strangers but friendly once he feels safe. He prefers to follow, though that has previously led to him being taken advantage of. He sees the world very straightforward, and voices his opinions much the same. This has had the unintended effect of offending wolves, and now he hesitates to speak up for himself.
