spartan is wanting to relocate the little family off of the mountain due to the smoke! i'm going to be doing this in rounds of a week (so next round would be 8/8) to keep things rolling. please PM me if there's problems with that!
@Isomne @Pan @Sonnet

He had become a sharp sentinel the last few weeks. Yet he could not fight off the smoke in the air or how it might damage his children or wife. The only option he saw was moving.

The children were, in his eyes, old enough for this experience. It would not be easy for any of them but it would be doable. The just needed to do it now.

In a hoarse tone, he chuffed and howled lowly to rally his family at once. Asked his daughters to come to him in his wordless way, begged their mother to come to him as well. No other thing mattered more than their survival now.

Sonnet
Sonnet hadn't been feeling the best for a while now. She was just so tired, her chest ached from her cough that simply didn't want to leave. She didn't care to go explore. She didn't want to go watch the clouds by the river anymore. The world was suddenly a very scary place now that the smoke had settled into their fold.

Her ears perked at her father's beckoning, and she yawned. Slowly rising, leaning forward to stretch out and lift a hind paw in turn. Then she slumped backward into a bow before straightening up. She'd been so sleepy, couldn't she nap for a few more? With a loud cough, she crept toward the den entrance to look at him.

The pup stood still, hesitant to step out into the frightening space between the safety of her home and the protection of her father. She whimpered, crumbling to the ground and giving a pleading look, silently wanting to be scooped up into his warm embrace.

Pan
She wasn’t quite sure why, but outside was no longer the fun and open place it had once been. The child wanted nothing more than for things to go back to how they’d been. The air that’d once been crisp, clean, and fresh had turned dirty, somehow. To the point where some days, it was a challenge simply to breathe. And the worst part was, she didn’t know why it was happening.

Pan had been able to glean from observing their parents that something was very wrong, though. They constantly seemed worried, stressed, fearful even. Emotions that the girl had yet to feel, and that she didn't particularly like. Especially when father, that seemingly everpresent guardian worried for them.

She didn’t delay in answering his version of a call, venturing towards him and her sibling. ”Pa, sis,” she murmured, pressing her nose into her father’s leg if he’d let her, before sitting beside her sibling.

No posting order! Next round on 8/18 or sooner if everyone gets in.
@Isomne @Pan @Sonnet

How could he explain it to them? The words escaped him and their mother still had not arrived. That in and of itself was enough reason to worry.

He tugged Sonnet closer to him and welcomed Pan closer. He nosed over each of their crowns with a low hum in the back of his throat. He needed them to trust and rely upon him now more than ever. So he buried his own anxieties for the moment, prepared to forge them onward and trust that his beloved was near. That she heard them, that she understood.

He tipped his head back and howled for her again. It was time to go. The easiest way would be down the gentler slopes east, instead of trying to carve through the mountains any other way.

He nudged his daughters now. A low chuff used to vocalize he meant to move them along now. A trip. He hoped they might find excitement at the idea instead of more worries.

Father’s gentle touch was reassuring, especially given the uncertainty of the times, but it wasn’t quite enough to quell her anxieties. When even father, that figure the girl was accustomed to being strong and brave, seemed worried or fearful.. it couldn’t mean anything good.

Then he was rising, nudging them, seemingly prompting them to do something. To move? To go somewhere? Would things be better somewhere else? She was excited to see new things, and bounced forth eagerly a few paces, but paused, another realization setting in.

Where was mother? Why was she not here with them? A soft whine escaped the girl, as she turned back to father with big, worried eyes.

"Where's ma? Where we go?" While once upon a time she’d sought independence, now Pan didn’t want to go anywhere without mother, too.

Isomne Yvain
She had not thought herself to ever fell homesick again, but as she followed her husband's calls leading the girls on up ahead, making sure nothing dangerous followed them, Isomne felt an old familiar pull. She would miss their beautiful vale, theirs alone. It had been a place of joy and peace, the perfect place to raise their little family. She was sorry to have to leave behind their little slice of paradise, but not as sorry as she was to see her daughters begin to suffer in the smoke.

They must leave it behind, now. She shouldn't make them linger another moment. Her call back was more bark than song, lest her worries creep into the sound.

Taking one final glance behind at the view of the vale as it slipped between trees, she urged herself on, to take heart. A warm smile would take the place of her frown, her trepidation pushed down. There was no use thinking twice, this was the right thing to do, and what was more, it was now or never. And there was no one she had more faith in to see them through this, than her love and them together. They'd be okay.

And so it was with this in mind that she caught up with them, answering Pan's question as she gave a kiss upon Sonnet's head, checking them over as they would begin their journey. "We're all going together, don't be afraid." Then her gaze slid to him. A quiet whine, an apology for making him worry and an expression of her own anxiety. She did not know where he meant to lead them, either.

Sonnet
The father's attempt at reassurance was met with a whimper on Sonnet's end. Her sister was quick to join them but this didn't soothe the girl one bit. She let out a cough followed by another pitiful whine. Unlike Pan she didn't move at her father's gentle push, instead, she leaned back into his touch and planted her paws. She didn't want to move. The world was scary. To make matters worse her twin brought up a very pressing matter. One which was Sonnet's breaking point. She started to sob, tears streaming freely.

Thankfully, for the sake of everyone's ears, her cries were met with the touch of her mom. She sniffled a few more times as her cheeks dried before a coughing fit took the place of her temper tantrum. It was short-lived in comparison to the ones she'd had in the days prior. Isomne tried to tell them not to be afraid...but that was all little Song was. Despite how she felt she lifted up onto her paws at last and nodded. <b>"O-okay."</b>
