Raigo Akreon
<i>Y</i>earning had replaced curiosity, desire had replaced satisfaction, unrest had replaced joy. So much had happened and...and those other wolves! Frankly, it had terrified the young wolf. From living with only Vlarindara as a companion to suddenly being surrounded by others provided an entirely new experience for him and he was not at all convinced that he liked it. He might have managed it, had Vlarindara stayed with him. But, due to her duties to their new pack, Raigo found himself without her support more often than not and <u>that</u>, he did not like.

P<i>r</i>ying a rock loose with his nose, he sniffed around the damp soil, hoping to find something of interest. He found himself to be disappointed, though, as the only thing worth smelling proved to be an earth worm. He let the rock fall back into place and sniffed around the ground, searching for another interesting trail. Was coming here with Vlar the best choice? Well, given that the alternative was to stay on his own, it had to have merit. But, he had never even seen some of the wolves before and Vlar had left him alone with them. He had felt legitimate terror at the predicament, especially the first time she had left.

Pr<i>o</i>dding hunger had originally driven the yearling to leave the den, but, once out on his own, the realization of just how overwhelmed he felt with the rest of them came crashing down on his narrow shoulders. His trek away from the den had been accompanied by a nearly constant whine as he attempted to figure out what he was going to do next. Should he go back? Could he go back?

The <i>t</i>emptation to just stay out here was strong. He would be alone, without having to worry about defending himself from other wolves or about them hurting him. On the other hand, he would be alone. <i>Vlarindara.</i> He would never see her again. It was not that he loved her or begrudged Borden for having caught her eye. It was not like that at all. Raigo thought of her as his big sister. Ever since she had found him in that blizzard, they had spent virtually every hour together and he did not know what he would do if he had to live the rest of his life without seeing her again.

The s<i>c</i>intillating joy of freedom from the pack dulled significantly at that thought. Of course, this very thought had crossed his mind many times over the past several days, but each time, he had found something to distract himself and prevent himself from dwelling on it. This time, though, he sat down and stared at a tree, forcing himself to consider the problem at hand. <i>Is never seeing Vlar again a worthy price to wander around like this? I like not having all the others around all the time, but is it worth it? What if...What if I get stuck in the river again? I would have died if she hadn't of helped me as much as she did.</i> Another whine escaped his lips and he turned his head back towards where he knew the den to be. He sniffed the air, but could only smell the cedars around him, the moist dirt beneath his paws, a few small rodents off in the bushes.

An old <i>i</i>dea came into his head, one that he had considered many times since his departure from the pack's den. <u>Go back.</u> But what would they say? He felt certain that he would be in HUGE trouble for leaving like that and would no doubt be looked down upon, but he HAD to see Vlar again. So what if he was made Omega? He was not going to leave Vlar. He could not leave her.

A resol<i>v</i>e shone in his eyes that had not been there for the better part of two weeks as the yearling forced himself to his feet and turned back towards the den. <i>Well,</i> he thought, setting his ears and tail at a determined angle. <i>Here goes nothing.</i> He had put quite a fair distance between himself and the den, three day's solid travel, at the least, and so he started back at a trot, believing that he still did not quite have the stamina yet to undergo that long, ground-eating lope that was bred into his race. He just hoped that Vlarindara would not be too angry with him.

Vlarindara

OOC: -flying tackles!- Yay! -noms yer tail!...again!-

It had been a while... too long.. in her opinion since she'd come back from her hunt and Raigo had come up missing. At first, she hadn't worried over his well being - he was probably out exploring or something...but when he hadn't returned, the white female had gone out looking, but each time she returned, it was without her brother. Vlarindara had fallen into something of a wistful state. She wasn't secluding herself to a den.. or constantly disappearing, but she WAS usually to be found watching the horizon when she was at the den. Her white coat visible at the oddest of hours, oftentimes, when on patrol, she would finish and then disappear again. This time was no different.

Vlarindara finished her rounds and reported back to the den, checking that things were still going well. Once she had checked that all the wolves were fine, and the ones that SHOULD be there were, she disappeared again, melting back into the forest. She felt bad.. for leaving the pack so much.. but alot of her time was spent hunting... and alot of it spent patrolling, or reinforcing Borden's scent markers. The white female chose to do a bit of hunting on her trip, knowing that the pack could use every little bit they found. She had her nose to the ground, her tail curled over her back and was tracking some creature or another...before her black nose caught wiff of something that was familiar and made her heart leap. Her white head shot up, amber eyes looking around before she trotted in circles, trying to find the source of the scent.. the direction.

Raigo! She felt her heart soar at the thought and started racing through the snow, plumed tail flying like a banner behind her. Vlarindara ran until she felt her lungs were going to burst, following Raigo's trail as closely as she could - when she caught sight of a furred tail disappearing around a tree trunk, the white female barked, a high pitched - short, but rather excited bark.. that was promptly followed by three more as she powered her way though the snow towards him. The overlarge ears were pointed at the growing scent of the other wolf.. her tail wagging as if it might wag itself right off.

Of course.. the string of barks stopped abruptly with a rather...unlady-like yelp as Vlar's feet tangled with one another and tripped her, sending the wolf face first into the snow. She popped right back up and scrambled to stick her head out of the snow, still barking her fool head off.. She was still cloistered in the snow, her body tangled in a hopeless heap as she wriggled to get her feet back to rights. That one went there...this one there...

Raigo Akreon
<i>N</i>ose to the ground, Raigo paused and sniffed a fallen tree nearby. A few tantalizing scents drifted here and there, but not enough to deter him from his determined course. He would not allow himself to again become Raigo the Coward and back out. No, his course was set and he would follow it to its conclusion, no matter what that may be. Vlarindara was there and he would not leave her side. Not again.

W<i>i</i>th ears twitching to and fro, Raigo continued on his way, back towards the den. However, a yapping bark caught his attention and he spun around, wondering who was making such a ridiculous noise. Imagine his complete and total surprise when he caught sight of a white pelt tumbling through the snow and yapping her head off like a puppy! "<span style='color:teal'>Vlar!</span>" he cried out, feeling quite ecstatic, himself.

He <i>w</i>hined softly, though, as he remembered what he had done. Half-way through a gleeful pounce, he stopped and lowered himself to the ground in a humble, submissive and apologetic posture. He hoped that she was not going to turn him away for his irresponsibility. Although, it would not really be such a surprise if she did. He had behaved abhorrently and knew it.

Vlarindara

OOC: D:! Poor Raigo..

She heard the male call her name and scrambled to free herself from the snow she'd managed to fall into only to continue her headlong rush towards the yearling.. He was okay! Vlarindara took note of the submissive posture right about the time she was about to pounce on the lad.. and slammed on the breaks. Of course, that sent her into a skid..that brought her whizzing past the wolf before she stopped and turned around. Once she made it to his side, that large, white head began nosing him all over, checking for injury and finding none. A soft whine escaped her own muzzle before she gave him a rather long, wet slurp from nose to neck. The tail that had been wagging before had never stopped wagging, and in fact seemed to have decided it was going to wag in a circle. Clockwise.

Vlarindara dropped to her haunches...then smiled at him, her ears trained on his form, her eyes watching nothing but her brother. "I'm glad you're safe, Raigo.. You.. had me worried for a while there that I'd done something wrong.." The white female shifted, laying down on the snow next to him so she could get eye-level, that smile still on her face, and her tail still thumping rather..audibly against the snow. "There's no need for you to be all the way down here, you know."

Raigo Akreon
Hearing Vlarindara's yaps of joy did manage to bring a slight lift to the youngster's spirits, but only slightly. He still felt the burning shame in his chest and stomach, still felt uncertainty about this new situation in which he had found himself. However, as the white wolf went skidding past him, Raigo cocked his head slightly in more than mild confusion as he turned to face the ecstatic Vlarindara. His body turned about half way around before Vlar crouched next to him and began to inspect his body carefully, searching for injuries, no doubt. As bad as he felt, though, the yearling could not keep his tail from lightly thumping the ground.

Upon hearing Vlarindara's words, Raigo's head lowered a little further and his ears flattened slightly. His tail stopped. "<span style='color:teal'>I...No, you didn't do anything wrong. I just...I don't know if I can do this, Vlar,</span>" he said, nuzzling against her white fur. "<span style='color:teal'>There's so many of them. I--I don't know what to do, Vlar.</span>" A soft whine escaped him as he lowered even further into the snow. "<span style='color:teal'>I'm scared.</span>"

Vlarindara

She frowned, listening to what he was saying before moving and laying down next to him, sidling close enough that her white fur began to melt into his darker pelt. The larger female shifted and nuzzled her nose against his cheek before lowering her own head to the snow, right next to his. Vlarindara was silent for a long minute or so before a pink tongue slipped out and brushed over his furred muzzle. "It's okay to be scared...I was to.. at first." She shifted, moving until she could rest her head on his shoulders, smiling softly at the strength she could feel in them. "You've done quite well for yourself, Raigo. I'm proud of you."

"If you're uncomfortable around them.. then you can stay with me...We can hunt together for the pack...run our patrols..Even though I'm not..exactly sure if I'm even supposed to do patrols...but it.. helps the pack.. so I guess it's okay? And.." She frowned, a small whine escaping her muzzle before she looked somewhat...sheepish. "I've never been in a pack.. long enough to know what they're supposed to do.. what's supposed to happen. I'm...a little scared myself...The more wolves that join Borden and Jaysyek..When we were alone..just the two of us.. we knew where we stood..right now...I-.I'm uncertain." It was odd for her to admit a weakness..but it wasn't so much a weakness..as letting the yearling know he wasn't wrong to be afraid.

Raigo Akreon
An unimaginable degree of solace washed over the young male when Vlarindara laid down beside him. A light, whiffling sneeze jerked his body, though, when Vlar licked his muzzle. At Vlar's admission of being scared, Raigo started to lift his head to look over at her, but stopped when she laid her own head across his shoulders. He had missed that touch, more than he might care to admit, even to himself. He listened to her words of comfort, though he had to work to make himself believe them. Surely Vlarindara was hardly, if ever scared. She couldn't be scared. She was <b>Vlarindara</b>.

Continuing to speak, Vlar helped Raigo to calm down. Even just hearing her voice was soothing to the confused and frightened yearling. She spoke of belonging to a pack, of knowing what to do in a pack, of complete inexperience in either of those fields. However, the offer to go hunting and patrolling with her was like music to the yearling's ears, which perked up straight and, had it not been for Vlar's head against his shoulders, would have been followed by his head. "<span style='color:teal'>Oh, can I, Vlar? I would like that, very much.</span>" However, he then remembered that he and Vlar were not exactly "free wolves" any longer. "<span style='color:teal'>Do...Do you think that Borden will let us?</span>" Oh, how he hoped so!

Vlarindara

When Raigo perked up, Vlarindara shifted to pull herself onto her haunches with a soft chuckle, her ears shifting forwards to look at the yearling. "I don't see why he wouldn't, Raigo. I've disappeared for hours on end for the hunts.. You..would have to interact with the pack a bit.. but.." The white female ducked her head, her ears shifting and laying out from either side of her head, making her look..sheepish. "While looking for you.. I've been gone quite a bit..and I've only seen the others in passing.. And spoken a few words to both Borden and Jaysyek..I've sat down for meals with them, but..I leave shortly after.. but now that I've found you.. perhaps we...can meet them..together?" Vlarindara sounded almost hopeful that he would stay with her, elated.. that she'd be with her brother.. Could stay with her brother.
