Miccah Athesila
@Enia

Who could he send? It had been on his mind for the last few days, and still he had not yet decided. His pups were as rambunctious as he had thought they would be, but at least his yearlings put in the effort to take care of their crazy little brothers - enough to lighten the load at least a little for their parents. However, the load wasn't light enough. The dark king wished to go himself, to check in on their allies at White Fir Notch but between his duties as king and his newborn sons he couldn't leave for long.

His mate was too busy with her duties as queen, their sons, and her role as the only medic. That left his older children. But who? Cin...seemed to be a little distant and he was content at the borders. Flair...was not ready. He didnt want to put this type of responsibility on her shoulders. That left his youngest daughter, but the most level headed of his children really. The more he thought about it, the more the dark king liked the idea. She could truly take the time to check in on their allies, and Aideen had mentioned Enia had been itching to do more for the pack.

The yearling did her best to keep herself busy. It was not unlike her to check in on her younger brothers, especially now that they were active outside of the den. Enia remembered that when she was younger how Cinaed and Flair would always compete to see who could explore more before they got caught. It was a dangerous game, one Nia hardly ever played. The fear of disappointed her mother weighed too heavily upon her and she never wished to do that. It kept her wanderlust in check, but lately, she had been wondering what was outside the borders of Secret Woodlands. She would not dare travel further because she knew that her family needed her.

If she was not looking after her brothers, the dark girl would be found marking the borders. She always felt safe in the thickets and after a single round looped back into the territory, her mind set on a small meal. Perhaps it would do her good to change up her routine and go on a small hunt soon so that she wouldn’t get bored. Surely her mother would appreciate that. Her father’s scent on the breeze caused her a pause. It’s been awhile since we’ve talked. With that in mind, she turned on her paws and started in the direction that his scent came from, releasing a short bark to alert him that she was on the way.

The dark king would never say that he had a favorite when it concerned his children...but he would be lying to himself if he said that Enia did not hold just a bit of a special place in his heart. So when he heard her calling out to him, Miccah turned around with a slight smile tugging at his muzzle. He moved closer to his youngest daughter, greeting her with an affectionate kiss at the crown of her head. Just who he had wanted to see, but first, he wanted to catch up with his daughter before he discussed pack business. It had been a long time it seemed since they had last talked. He was a king, but he was a father too. Sometimes it was hard to remember that.

So he pulled away with a light smile and and spoke. "My dear daughter," he rumbled since he was in a bit of playful mood. Sometimes it astonished him, how much Enia was like her mother. But then, not so. It seemed she held the best parts of Aideen and the best parts of Miccah too. "What have you been up to?" he rumbled, genuinely curious. She was a yearling now. Whew, how time flew. It would soon come time for her to decide what she wished to commit to, but for that, she needed to know what she liked and enjoyed.

A smile curved onto the petite girl’s maw when she spotted her father. She did not hesitate to go towards him and happily returned his affections with a return kiss to the chin. Enia’s tail wagged behind her to show just how happy she was to see him. It was not often that she got to spend time with him and since his illness, Enia held onto the hope that he was keeping it easy. Ever since Cinaed disappeared, Enia had hoped that someone would be sent out to go look for him. After all, they were siblings and the one that Nia got along most well with.

She did not let the thoughts of her missing brother cloud over her mood. A small giggle escaped the girl’s lips at her father’s jesting words, though she would be lying if she said that she didn’t feel the slightest bit pleased that her father had used such a title on her. Take that Flair! Her dad’s inquiry stifled her giggles and the youngest Athesila girl softened her facial expression. The king of the Woodlands always stuck to business but it didn’t bother his daughter, it just showed what he was passionate about. Enia opened her jaws to respond, "Just taking care of the borders and watching my brothers. When I can, that is." Her brothers were very active and it was near impossible to keep up with them. The thought of Cinaed crept back in her mind. Slightly hesitant, she began, "Dad…have you heard anything about Cinaed?" She missed her littermate and hoped that he would be found – or come home – soon.

It brought warmth to his heart to hear her laughter. He didn't hear too much of that these days. Her response pleased him, and made a chuckle rumble deep within his chest. Yes, his sons were a crazy pair. Rambunctious little things, always seeking adventure. Yet, his daughter's next question made his brow furrow. "Did...your mother not tell you?" Enia usually spent most of her time with Aideen, but it didn't bother the dark king. So what, Enia favored her mother. He favored her company above all others too. Yet, it was surprising nevertheless. Miccah could've kicked himself. This very moment showed him that he needed to spend more time with his children, instead of running himself ragged. It was a hard balance, and even after these last couple of years as a family man the dark king had yet to find his footing. "He went to go seek your mother's birth pack, in the north. He is fine." Just to fully eliminate her worries, the dark king smiled and bent to nuzzle the crown of her head affectionately.

Lifting himself to his full height after a few moemnts, the man decided it was time to get back to business. "Enia, I have something important I want to speak to you about. Have you ever been interested in scouting?"

Enia Athesila

The dark Athesila’s father was a strong man. His bounce back from pneumonia was only proof of this. Enia had no doubts that her father had Secret Woodland’s best interests at heart. Both of his parents had the interest of their pack at heart. None the less, when the larger wolf mentioned her mother, Enia’s eyebrows drew together. The youngest daughter of the Athesila’s had not spoken with her mother lately – of her own doing – because she wanted to give the creamy woman space to enjoy the freedom now that she had her older offspring to look after her newest liter. It soothed her heart to know that her brother was safe but something else stirred within her heart too. Why couldn’t he have told me himself?

Enia liked to think that she was close with Cinaed but was there something that was keeping him back from talking to her? Maybe she was just overthinking it. Light brown eyes crinkled in delight at her father’s display of affection. They were so rare and when Enia received them, she tucked them close to her heart where they would remain forever. The petite girl offered her father a sweet peck to the cheek. The dark girl relaxed her facial expression into a neutral one when her father spoke again, bringing up more of a serious topic. The girl’s eyebrows drew together again, lips pursing in thought. Her voice was curious, "No, I haven’t thought much about it. Why?"
