Drestig Avalon
Toot toot! Pack meeting everyone! Lot's of news to get through, and official introduction of new members and puppies @Sphinx @Chimera @Jessie @Askan @Reyes @Aleksei @Cottongrass @Adelayde @Rosalind @Neko

- Before noon, 53 ° F/12 ° C

A blanked of slate grey hung low and heavy over the Fields when Drestig woke up that morning, his legs stiff as he wiggled his way out of the den. It was nice and full now, with the pups and newer members, and he felt as safe as ever leaving it behind, to jog off the soreness on a morning patrol. Above him the clouds rolled ominously, glistening with lightning, though the ground remained dry during his round. Still, the clear threat, and the cold winds that came with it spoke their clear language to the aging alpha. Just the other day he’d spoken with Jessie about making a round to their neighbors, now that the pups were getting bigger and a little easier to handle. With this sudden reminder of the approaching fall, it seemed much more urgent than he’d thought before, and as he made his way back towards the pond at the center of the territory, he decided it was best to get moving soon.

So he raised his muzzle to the sky, calling for his fellow pack mates to join him, as he settled near the water’s edge, tapping his tail lightly against the grass. There were plenty of things to address beside his trip anyway, and it might as well be now. The puppies were old enough for a proper introduction, and the new members deserved one as well, it could all be handled now, and then he could leave, knowing everything was taken care off here. While he waited for the pack to gather, he stared up at the dark sky, frowning at the strangely churning clouds. Hopefully they’d contain themselves until he’d finished here, and then get it over with quickly. But of course, he had no power over nature.

Sphinx Avalon

The movement from her father had not gone amiss by the light sleeper of the litter, tiny snores that flitted through Sphinx's partially agape jaws coming to a cease when her head slid back to now rest against the ground instead of upon his back once her sire rose to start his day. With a soft gruff she rolled onto her opposite side, refusing to open her eyes just yet while her paws stretched and pushed against her brother's head, but alas sleep was a fading idea and no longer within the young pups grip.

As if her father agreed; despite having left the confines of the cramped den long ago by now, his beckoning howl filled the early morning air and gray painted ears pricked in surprise to hear that even she was being grouped into those that needed to heed the call. Excitement flooded Sphinx's body and not one to disappoint her parents she was up and bolting for the communal den's entrance, faltering only once her line of sight caught a glimpse of the ominous skies above that looked so terrifying.

A flash of light warranting a small yelp to escape the young girl as her body hunkered down close to the ground. Glancing back over her shoulder at the others still tucked inside she wondered if it was best to stay put until someone else answered Papa's call, following them once they ensured her it was safe to go out into the world with its scary skies and flashes of strange light.

Jessie Tainn

She had risen before Drestig that day, just so that she could go out to do some scouting of her own. The Rye Queen did not go out far but Drestig and Jessie had discussed the meeting, though the mother wanted a little something of her own to do in the meantime. Though just as she was about to follow through with her plan, her mate’s call echoed throughout the Lowlands. An exasperated sigh escaped her muzzle as she turned. The Tainn had decided a while ago that she did not mind Drestig being the one to call the forces together. She preferred to be the silent one that did the intimidating one. Besides, everyone knew by now that her husband was just a big ol’ teddy bear. She was the disciplinarian and had a reputation to uphold.

As she made her way towards where he called, a flash of lightning lit up the sky and a deeper frown pulled on the gray woman’s face. If it was going to rain, any trail markings were going to be washed away. Snorting softly under her breath, she made her way next to Drestig, pleased that she was first to arrive. Butting him lightly on the shoulder in an affectionate gesture, she stood shoulder to shoulder with him and waited for the rest of their pack.

Neko Inali
Neko had grown up a nomad and had spent most of her life traveling. She had seen a wide variety of land and weather patterns, and she had learned from her parents some understanding of them. She had seen hot, dry deserts, windy grasslands, and ocean waves. She had even seen stars fall from the sky. Ocean waves rolling across the sky were something completely new to her, however. She felt a sense of dread as she watched the clouds roll and the lightning strike, though she couldn’t tell if her feeling came from any real danger or just the fact that she had never seen the sky like this before.

She stood near the creek staring up at the sky, watching the clouds roll and the lightning strike. Her thoughts were interrupted when Drestig’s howl rang through the air summoning his pack. She turned towards the pond where the howl came from. She would have to worry about the weather later as the alpha’s call took precedence.  It would be her first meeting with the pack, and she was excited to meet the other members. She was also anticipating getting some direction in her own duties to the pack, including setting up an infirmary and gathering and storing herbs. She took one more look at the sky before bounding off towards the pond to join the rest of the pack.

Askan Selwyn
I hope you don't mind me Pping @Reyes arrival ace <3

For the most part, when a meeting was called Askan was the first on the scene.  But these days it was hard to be so prompt when his mate took up so much of his time and attention. By no means was he complaining- if anything it was more of a blessing than a curse- but he couldn't help but feel a little put out when he arrived to see Neko there before him.

Well...At least she came when called, unlike some other wolves he wasn't so fond of.

Rolling his eyes, Askan dismissed those bitter thoughts as he slowed to a trot and then a walk. Surely it had to be important, otherwise Drestig wouldn't have called for them all during such unsettling weather. He was many things, but the Selwyn wasn't at all superstitious, so he wasn't under the impression that the stormy sky was a bad omen. But even he had to admit it wasn't a good sight, nor enjoyable weather to be out in. Hence he'd been tucked away in his den with his mate by his side.

But whatever. If Drestig needed something done, so it would be. Askan would run to the ends of the Earth if that was what his alpha wanted, but knowing the Old Man he probably had something a little more reasonable in mind. Whatever it was.

Huffing in greeting, Askan plopped himself at Drestig's other side and looked about to see who was missing. He hadn't seen Adelayde for a while, as to why he had no idea. What was she up to? Ah whatever, she'd show her face soon enough. Of that he was sure. He just hoped that this wasn't a bad sort of meeting. He wasn't a pup anymore but that didn't stop his alphas from scolding him like one if he screwed up. He'd been on his best behaviour as of late and aside from the umm....The run in with Jessie the other day, thinks were okay, right?

Giving the lead female a nervous side glance, he shoved any-or at least tried to- his worries aside and cast his gaze skyward. Hopefully this wouldn't take long, or at the very least it wouldn't start to rain.

Adelayde Artemieva

Life in the Rye seemed to be in a continuous cycle of hussle and bussle. With Askan's attack, her time was occupied with helping her resilient equal in anyway she could even if it only meant taking on more border patrols and filling his nearby caches. Normally, Reyes beat her to the punch with the caches and anything else Askan personally needed, but Adelayde harbored still the guilt of passing on what could of been Askan's death sentence.

Then came the birth of the pack's newest generation which took up her time after Askan grew stronger and didn't need anything from her anymore. More mouths to feed, borders to be strengthened and protected from anything or anyone who would dare harm the pack's legacy. She had little time to think about anything else, though @Laike always stole her mind whenever she was able to relax. She longed to see his face and feel his embrace once again as it's been almost two months now since they've been together, the longest length they've been apart since they met. It was rather disheartening, but she could feel it somehow that she was going to see him soon.

As both her alphas left the communal den, the loyal second stayed back to babysit the cubs though they were growing like weeds and would soon in a few months no longer need a babysitter. As she laid contently on her side, watching the little bundles of fur sleep away, Drestig's voice beckoned for the pack. Sphinx, the small girl that was going to be the splitting image of her mother, awoke and attempted to go out by herself until she saw something frightening outside. Rising to her feet, her hulking form moving towards the sleeping boys. Nudging each of them with her pale muzzle, she beckoned them to follow her out to answer their father's call.

"Up, up little ones! Your father is calling for us, we can't be the last ones there!" The Second purred as she turned her bicolored gaze out towards the interesting sky swirling above them. Intent to have the pups follow her to the pond where Drestig and the others currently sat, her pace was slow enough for them to keep up and she made sure they were all following as she came upon the small crowd that begun to accumulate.

Acknowledging, the newest member Neko was already in attendence she looked around to see her and the pups were not the last to show. Giving Drestig a small and a curt nod, she settled besides Jessie after affectionately bumping the female's cheek in greeting. Glancing over to her counterpart, Askan, who she also gave a smile to before she settled to wait for the others to arrive.

Chimera "Kasai" Avalon

There was very little that Kasai was scared of. Or so he liked to think. So, when a loud and threatening rumble came from somewhere high above, the growing boy was startled awake with a yelp. Uncurling himself from Griffin's side, the smallest Tainn needed no further urging from his watchful babysitter, Adelayde. Ears pressed back, he marched determinedly, boldly towards the mouth of the den. Where did that growl come from?! And who was so brazen enough to direct it at him and his siblings? Oh, he'd show them!

Sphinx too, was hovering by the den entry. Peering outside with an uncertain look in her eyes. He gave his speckled sister a roll of his eyes, not yet comprehending what had gotten her so nervous. That is, until he poked his head outside, to be promptly met with a bright flicker of light that seemed to rip through the darkened sky. His tough guy expression wiped clean off his mug, he backpedaled inside the safety of the den. Torn between whether to whine or growl in apprehension, he planted himself firmly on the ground, hoping if he didn't move, the awful light would stay away. He didn't like this one bit...it was scary, even for him out there!

Adelayde was persistent, coaxing all three of them to follow her outside. Their Dad was calling! His father was one of the coolest wolves around and Kasai never was one to pass up a chance to mingle with his old man. But...was going all the way out there really worth it to see what his dad wanted? With a dubious expression on his face, the Tainn got up and cautiously slipped outside. Mother would not be pleased if he didn't come when called, like a good boy. Sucking it up, he stuck close to the large female. Really close...wedging himself under the protection of her legs throughout the entire duration of the trip to the pond. Sadly, as they arrived at the small gathering, his means of protective shelter slipped out of reach. None too happy with this, he bolted for cover, all but ignoring the new faces as he took refuge behind his father's left foreleg.

Rosalind Andromeda-Tainn

"Oh goodness, oh no, oh.. aghk!" The fae panicked as she heard her uncle--- no, leader call forth a pack meeting. Her first pack meeting, if you exclude the ones back home where everyone got together to take more shrooms and pass the hell out for the remainder of the day of course. What even happened at these things if not drugs? "I-I-I..." Couldn't she bail? Surely Drestig would understand right? It isn't exactly hard to tell that she's.. well.. A little better at being an introvert than conversing with others, right? But that wouldn't look good, not to everyone else at least! Rosalind hadn't even the decency to introduced herself to anyone yet! "There's no getting out of this... Maybe I can just sit quietly in the back.." Unnoticed, preferably.

The Tainn noticed several other wolves upon her arrival, did that make her late? 'Oh... Frick.. Really..' The fae sighed quietly to herself, settling in just a bit further back from everyone else. In a way it was almost exciting. Anxiety aside, this would likely be the most normal event she'd ever attended, and that was something right? Nervous, the yearling stared straight ahead toward where her uncle was stationed, waiting to see what this whole shindig would be about.

Cottongrass
Something was happening.

Or at least that's what Cottongrass assumed. He couldn't really be all that sure because howls were never the most comprehensive method of speaking. Especially when the general message of the noise was more or less come here. Maybe it had something to do with the ominous clouds. Or all the nameless scents that now lingered around pack territory. And maybe — just maybe — it was about him and he was moments away from being ousted by the pack for a misdemeanor he didn't even remember.

But those were just his thoughts running wild. He didn't actually know what the heck was going on and so he tried to gather his courage as he shuffled towards the source of the call. It was probably nothing. Like really boring pack stuff! Except he didn't like the idea of that either and his nervousness only mounted. But there was no backing out now. Especially when he made it all the way over and he could see the crowd that had already gathered.

Towards the front he could catch sight of Askan and Reyes. For a few awkward seconds he considered pushing through everyone else to settle down near his friends. But then he caught sight of a familiar face loitering in the back and his entire mind was derailed. Rosalind! He could recognize that darkly-furred and stocky little body any day. Behind him his tail started wagging and a smile blossomed across his features.

He wasted no time in picking his way over towards her, reaching out to try and give her a friendly little poke. There were a thousand questions forming on the tip of his tongue because when did she get there and how. But Drestig looked very important at the front and he quelled his own tongue. It showed in the form of a flapping tail and fidgeting paws as he settled close to the she-wolf.

Without a doubt he was going to grill her for details about what happened since he last saw her when this meeting was over.
