The girl was at it again, her paws carrying her around. Of course she was out to catch some grub but her curiosity was also getting the best of her. These lands were so vast and still unexplored for her. There was so much to see, so much to learn and the possibility of so many new wolves to meet! She was getting excited just thinking about it. The Archer girl had traveled a little farther than normal that day to try and see more. The lowlands, she’d discovered, were largely flat and pretty boring other than some sights she’d seem. Everything almost seemed to blend together, save for the Monadnock which jutted out into the sky and could be seen for miles in any direction.

Snow crunched beneath her paws as she moved, something she still wasn’t quite used to. When it had first fallen she hadn’t been quite so sure what to do, but it had felt so...peaceful. Now that the temperature was rising again the snow was melting, turning into much and making the earth muddy. Thankfully she was already dark pelted so it didn’t show up so much on her, but she could only imagine the hassle that a wolf like Piety went through to keep themselves clean during this time. As she went a peculiar scent caught her attention, causing her to pause and lift her head to give a good sniff. It wasn’t something she had ever smelled before, yet it clearly wasn’t wolf. She had already caught some prey that she had never encountered before so this new smell wasn’t any surprise to her.

Adeltra headed toward the scent curiously, her amber-yellow gaze focused on the path ahead of her until she made it to a crack in the earth. She stared down into it curiously and lowered her head to give a good sniff. Yep, this was definitely where the smell was coming from. The dark girl looked around for somewhere that would allow her to head down into the crevice, spotted something that could be used as a path a little further down. She headed over and started her descent, yelping a few times as her feet slid but she managed to catch herself before she took a tumble. With as thin as she still was she was likely to break something if she fell too hard.

Once inside she looked around in awe. The crack had been hiding a river of some sort, the light trickling down from above and playing against the surface causing a light show against the hard walls. Her tail began to wag furiously. This was more like it!

The peppered yearling was no stranger to snow. He was accustom to the frigid temperatures due to his Arctic heritage and time spent in the Yukon before heading south with his siblings. His winter coat had already started to appear, making the lanky teenager look much bigger than he was. Except it wasn’t growing in properly—tufts here, tufts there. He looked homeless and unkempt, which was not far from the truth.

Seven did not stray far from where he and his siblings had parted ways. It was supposed to be temporary. They had planned on meeting up sooner, to discuss what information they had collected, but the muddy-eyed Selwyn had not come across his brother or sister. And as the snow settled into the north Seven began to worry, for it was their first winter away from home. Away from the silver fence. He swallowed, hard and nervous, as he tiptoed through the snow.

Unknowingly he had been following a scent—a scent he hoped belonged to someone familiar. However, he couldn't figure out where it was coming from. But, as he drew closer, he realized that it did not belong to anyone he knew. Not his siblings or any wolf he had encountered in the feral lands. It was new and it was young—much younger than he. His brows pinched together, a frown creasing his dark features. What was with children walking around unattended?

Hello? He called out, uncertainty evident in his voice as he scanned his surroundings, searching for the origin of the lone scent.

The soft sound of pawsteps echoed off the walls, sounds of shifting earth and rubble echoing off the rock and the dark Archer turned to see who it was that was approaching. In the dim light she was hard to see and parts of the stranger’s pelt were akin to hers, but there were parts swirled in that were as light as the clouds. He was like an array of beautifully blended monochrome. Of course her mother and brother were patches of white and black but they were more patterned, this man was like a work of art. Her tail thumped on the hard ground.

“Hi there! Come to enjoy the view? It’s really great, even if it is a little stinky,” she said, her nose crinkling. From farther away the scent had seemed enticing, but getting closer it seemed that whatever produced the scent wasn’t as appealing as she’d once thought.

He stepped toward where the voice had originated from, his paws struggling to get a grasp on the slick rock as he descended toward the hidden river. Come to enjoy the view? He nodded, his muddy eyes falling onto the creature behind the voice—a girl with muddled ebony fur. The yearling flashed her a wide grin, his tail swaying behind his gangly body. It wasn’t an awful viewpoint. Despite the grey sky and falling snow obscuring some of his view it was still nice. The lands of Lore had all sorts of interesting territories tucked into it. Places he had never seen before.

Stinky? His nose wrinkled. Truthfully, he had not noticed the smell, as he had been too fixated following her scent. The peppered yearling was hungry for information on his siblings, which meant he was a bit noseblind to anything but his quest. Rookie mistake. If he wasn’t careful he would be a victim of one of the ferals. Yeah, it’s pretty neat, he answered with another wag of his tail. You from around here? His head tipped to the side as he questioned the girl, his shoulders sagging and demeanour friendly.

Already she could tell that he was a nice guy. His features were relaxed and positive, resembling a lot like her own. Man, she’d gotten so lucky with all the wolves she’d met since coming back into these lands! They were all much nicer than the others she’d met, a lot less snoody, territorial, and downright stuck up. Also less violent. Her muzzle subconsciously crinkled at the thought, stretching the fresh, pinkish scars on her snout.

“You from around here?” he asked and she was amazed that that seemed to be a reoccurring question with every conversation she’d had. It made her want to laugh, but she held it back to avoid making him think that she was laughing at him. “Nope! I’m from further south, a place called Willow Ridge. I got separated from my family for a couple months during a big storm, but a nice family up north says they know how to get me home. We’re just waiting ‘till I get a little stronger than I get to go home!” she said, laying out the whole plan without a second thought. She wasn’t ashamed of her situation...well maybe a little for her horrible sense of direction. But that didn’t seem to stop her. “What about you?” she asked with her characteristic bright grin.

His ears twitched at the name but it was not one he recognized. Willow Ridge. A frown stretched across his dark lips, his brows tight with concern as she continued, explaining that she had gotten separated from her family. Sounded familiar. At least she knew where her family was—Seven had no idea where his siblings had run off to. Probably getting into trouble; having way more fun than he was having. Making fun of him. He dismissed the thought as the girl mentioned a family up north and then returned the question back to him, asking him if he was from around here. He gave a quick shake of his head, his features softening and lightening up. Fake happy, it was something the nervous boy was exceptionally good at. Nah, he shrugged, a lopsided grin tugging at his maw, I’m from waaaay up north. Far beyond these lands. Got separated from my family, too. We’re lookin’ for some other family—family we’ve never met before. He paused, snorting in amusement: Well, we’re tryin’ to find 'em.

His expression became one she was familiar with when she told her story: sorrow and pity. The dark girl just offered a shrug. Everything would be fine now, she was going to go back to her family here soon so there was nothing to be pitied about.

He began speaking and revealed that he was from “waaaay” up north. She assumed that that meant he wasn’t from these lands at all, which was pretty interesting to her. Of course she’d met wolves outside of the lands, but to meet one not from them inside was new. And, it turned out, he had been separated from his family too. She offered him a sympathetic smile, but her brows rose when he mentioned that he was looking for family he’d never even met. “How are you supposed to find someone if you don’t even know what they look like? Do you know their names?” she asked curiously. To her that seemed a bit odd, but she supposed she couldn’t really be one to talk. “Oh! My name’s Adeltra, by the way. Adeltra Archer. What’s yours?” she inquired, suddenly aware that they hadn’t exchanged names.

He grinned at her comment and offered her a small laugh, his plume wagging softly behind him. Well, I know most of their names, he started, his maw falling to the side. Lachesis. He’s somewhere in the north, I just haven’t found him yet. He had more pressing matters to deal with, like finding his siblings, who had been missing far too long. But that was okay… he would find them eventually. They probably just carried away with their exploring. And the Selwyn’s. He nodded, confirming his words with another wide, cheesy grin. Something the nervous boy was infamous for. We heard stories about 'em and now we wanna find ‘em. A lazy shrug accompanied his words, his muddy gaze fixated on the little shadow as she introduced herself. Oh, right! Names! That was important, wasn’t it? Seven Selwyn, he introduced quickly, his nose dipping as the words rolled, easily, off his tongue. Seven was a much better name than his given name, or his assigned name. The number. Seventy-seven. Gross.

Addy was happy to hear the boy’s laugh, her tail wagging a little harder behind her small frame. Lachesis he mentioned and she stored the name away in case she should ever wander into a man of that calling. She somehow felt that situation wouldn’t arise, but one couldn’t ever be too sure. If she could be of any help to the boy trying to find his family she’d try her best. She also memorized what she was assumed was their last name. “I’ll keep an ear out and if I meet anyone with that name I’ll tell them you’re looking for them,” she said.

He went to give his name and she was a little surprised by it. It was interesting for someone to call their pup something like that, but who was she to judge? “Interesting name!” she commented then turned and moved a little further into the cavern. Her amber-yellow gaze wandered, watching the light play on the walls before catching something interesting. It was a little bundle, attached to the ceiling and emitting that same smell that was so pungent. She looked over her shoulder, “Hey, do you know what this is?” she asked, motioning to the animal.
