The weather had felt distinctly warmer when Lorcan awoke that morning. Deciding to make the most of the glorious sunshine whilst it was around, the agouti male had slipped away from Piety and the others and started to wander up the mountain.
Initially the snow and icy rocks had forced him to move slowly, loping cautiously along the narrow trail which lead up towards the mountain top. However, as he diverted onto a wider path which lead him between two peaks, he found that he could stroll more easily. Tall fir trees lined the mountain slopes either side of him, causing the morning sunlight to filter down and fill the gap between them where he walked. Lorcan's black tipped tail rose to wave contentedly behind him as he moved, soaking up the warmth of the sun as it beat down on his back.
As the male continued to stroll at a leisurely pace through the mountain pass, his dark nostrils flared as he caught scent of someone nearby. Curiously, the wolf smelt somewhat familiar. Immediately he grew more alert, his russet ears pricking up to listen out for the individual as they approached each other. In the near distance, further along the path, a tawny figure moved towards him. Taking note of their happy and relaxed temperament, Lorcan moved his own tail to wave back at them in greeting, all the while continuing to inhale their scent on the breeze.
Golden eyes narrowed as more of their features became clear. Lorcan's tail paused for a moment as an uncertain frown pulled at his face. "Duska, is that you?" He called out tentatively, tilting his head to one side. He couldn't be sure, not until she answered or moved closer. However, as the sunlight left her face, her identity became clear to him. Barking with excitement, Lorcan shifted down into a play bow, his tail waving rapidly behind him as he bounded full speed towards his niece.
